My ~2009 pc is really slow, it hasnt been fast since I stopped using it in late 2010. I made a clean install of W10 22H2 Pro x64, in the Windeploy screen it is really slow, CPU is pinned at all cores

Its specs are mobo:mcp61pm-hm, cpu:amd phenom 9650, gpu is nforce 430 6150se, chipset is same as gpu

#

i dont have a spare cpu, gpu,or mobo, ive tried swapping ram, it has 4gb now

nice number of processes

maybe windows 10 22h2 x64 is too heavy for it to handle

#

considering it is a computer from 2009

#

did you change the settings so windows uses all of your 4 cores?

#

the CPU definitely is the problem

sort processes by CPU, maybe it's installing updates

#

an SSD is probably the best upgrade for an older PC

an HDD wouldn't make the CPU usage 100%

#

if it's been like that for a good amount of time it isn't the updates either

oh the PC isn't even booting to desktop

#

try powering on without internet

could consider using another os while you save up to get a newer pc (ex: linux)

but then surely xp would run fast but it doesn’t

especially considering my main 2010 desktop runs better than my moms 2016 laptop

ok… your not going to believe this I flashed a modded bios to the mobo and all of a sudden it’s fine in all oses it seems from my 5 minutes of testing???

#

only issue now is that it boots from usb at usb 1.1 speed instead of 2.0

#

but i can look at that myself
