#2009ish pc as slow as a 1998 one

makes sense
maybe windows 10 22h2 x64 is too heavy for it to handle
considering it is a computer from 2009
did you change the settings so windows uses all of your 4 cores?
the CPU definitely is the problem
sort processes by CPU, maybe it's installing updates
an SSD is probably the best upgrade for an older PC
an HDD wouldn't make the CPU usage 100%
if it's been like that for a good amount of time it isn't the updates either
Windows 10/11 have too much processes...that a pc from 2009 can handle...specially...if it is a dual core
Buy an ssd to alleviate some of the problems!... But you are better off not trying to run latest os and shop for a new pc
could consider using another os while you save up to get a newer pc (ex: linux)
hi, it’s actually a quad core processor, and the hdd usage is around 0-5% it’s just the cpu it seems. also the chipset seems very warm to the touch
same with vista and even xp it does this
it’s not my main thankfully lol but somehow it seems Ubuntu runs at an acceptable speed, not like windows
but then surely xp would run fast but it doesn’t
40 idle processes won't impact much
especially considering my main 2010 desktop runs better than my moms 2016 laptop
Your cpu is a phenom 9650...while it is a quad core...its ipc is too weak to handle all the threads and processes...it is even weaker than 2nd gen i3 processor!...but if you say that even xp and vista does it!.. you need to check whether you have proper drivers installed!... but I doubt xp or vista have any reason to make any cpu go 100% while you are doing nothing!...
yeah I understand, but I’ve also got a celeron e1200 pc that is dual core with 1ghz lower clock speed that is much much better, the 9650 is surely a lot better than it (they were released same year)??
ok… your not going to believe this I flashed a modded bios to the mobo and all of a sudden it’s fine in all oses it seems from my 5 minutes of testing???
only issue now is that it boots from usb at usb 1.1 speed instead of 2.0
but i can look at that myself
its fun to do experiment with moded bios!... but getting usb 1.1 speed will certainly be painful experience ...specially with transfers or windows install...haha!... continue your testing
yeah haha the pc supported usb2 on stock so ill have to do some tinkering
