Whenever I try to login to the machine, it shows other user and then I have to select Microsoft account and login that way. The device is not domain/AD joined, it is a personal device. However it runs Windows 10 Pro.
I tried to fix this by changing the AutoLogonCount registry key and some other keys, which fixed the issue temporarily but then it returned a couple days later.

Problem solved: turns out, when I logged into my school account on MS Teams, it became enrolled into their management, therefore it pulled down my schools login policies, thanks M365CP for what you suggested!

I'm pretty sure your school shouldn't be doing that though, I'd cause a riot if they did that to me, what it basically means is that they get full control of your system and can remotely install any software or even wipe your install remotely

Yeah, I went into my schools IT team today, and they said it's the first time they've ever seen that happen
