#Change the upgrade system

A racing game where you improve your car with cards that don't change anything about the car other than a score is ridiculous and lazy.
I'm not in favor of copying, but for the love of God, change that, do the same as forza or need for speed, let us put a turbo on an aspirated car, let us change the suspension, change the exhaust.
The Crew has so much potential, but it was done so superficially that it's derogatory.

Do you not realize crew is a different game and not meant to be as realistic as the likes of forza and nfs??

Yeah, performance upgrades changing the sound is a Pandora's box I'd very much love to stay out of.

Being able to upgrade your car without changing the engine sound makes this game is unique in that regard, let's try to not make it even more of a bootleg than it already is.

If we could just buy the parts, that would fix everything

Nfs by no means in realistic outside of that

Exactly, I understand that the crew is a different proposal, but it's very annoying to improve your car with a card that doesn't affect anything other than increasing the car's maximum speed, that's it.

#

Have you ever played Forza 5?

#

I played at my cousin's house and it was a great experience, I spent hours just modifying the cars

fading kelp

This is not that kind of game.

Well, this system is gonna remain like this, whether you like it or not. You can't just expect them to radically change it, with an update or even a new instalment.

I'd say the only things I don't like about this system are the RPG-esque elements (improving Nitro Power, Duration, etc.) And the fact that we don't have a store to buy parts. Other than that, I don't mind this system.

Having an upgrade system that completely reflects what each upgrade does irl is too complicated for this game. Not to mention it would not pair well with the game's already annoying RNG drops system.

I personally like it better this way. It gives a different feel.

It's going to get infinitely worse.
Imagine trying to get that one part that's ideal for the car (excluding its affix mind you) and having to wait forever for it to drop as a reward.

I just explained it above. It gives off a different, unique feel.

#

If I want an upgrade system that affects the car like they would irl, I'd just go on Gran Turismo.

#

You can't expect something to be sim-level complicated and other things to stay the way they are, that's not how simcade (or game design) works.

I guess I'm the kind of guy who only bought The Crew because I couldn't play Forza Horizon

fading kelp
#

eh, with how things are, I wouldn't blame you. Ubisoft is trying so hard to make this game a bootleg Forza Horizon.

empty rune
#

Btw, don't you think the turbo noise is a little too loud?

#

At first I loved it but now it's starting to get a little annoying

fading kelp
#

Which car? They have different volumes.

empty rune
#

I heard two types of turbo, the single turbo has a heavier sound and the twin turbo has a faster and more aggressive sound

fading kelp
#

oh, they probably don't care enough to make that distinction.

empty rune
#

the Audi RS7 for example, sometimes I just want to hear the V8, but the turbo simply overshadows the entire sound

So you want Forza v2. It's kinda TC identity to not have those upgraded and it's ok. On the other hand you can change almost everything directly or indirectly with some limitations

fading kelp
#

True, being able to upgrade your cars without changing their sound at all is one of the very few unique appeals this game has left.

Another reason why tcm will never have this forza-esque system, it's because the game is not even realistic, not on forza levels.

This game is like... trying to be realistic, but at the same time, it's trying to not be too serious, which is pretty contradicting you'd probably say (and I wouldn't blame you for that).

Both systems have their perks, and for this one, as Cletus keeps saying, is to preserve the original engine sound, whilst improving your car. Say for instance: you like the rotary sound on the RX-7, and you'd like to keep it, with this system that's possible.

Yeah, this system is pretty linear and can't say I like it too much either, but it is what it is MaskedDontKnow
