things take time to license/model/add, and I don't think players would appreciate a new car slot that could go to an actually new car to go to some facelifted variant of a car we already have just because. there would not be enough to justify the late model GT1 being added so it could do the exact same thing the one we have does.
people seem to have this misconception that they can make their favorite car better ingame by requesting some newer trim/model of it, as if the game doesn't disregard many aspects of real life performance as it is.
