Haven't seen this before. Happens with other planets too, sometimes without the diffraction spikes and just the stars 3D model.

Please upload your se.log file, you can find it in your SpaceEngine /system folder

Can even see the moon and faintly the star through the ringed planet at the launch screen.

I have the same bug, I think it has something to do with "diffraction spikes" not being blocked by some planets

I don't remember the specific planet on that screenshot but here is another one I just found. The name of the planet is in the picture

The closest I could get was at the edge of the planet, but not dead through the center as shown here; I wonder what other settings/hardware specifications could be causing this SEthink

Copied all settings exactly and still nothing, however, I turned on Auto exposure like you have going and now I'm getting results

I was able to find the exposure comp range at which the sun-through-planet disappears. Gonna fiddle around more, but I think this is sufficient to pass on the bug report. Thanks for brainstorming with me!
