Please note these are meant to be quick reference sheets. For more information on talents, gear, rotations, and more, check the #dps-faq and visit your favorite guide.

Slayer vs Mountain Thane
Slayer single target is only a few percent higher, but Midnight raids feature a surprisingly high amount of multitarget, so the real question is which damage profile better fits the fight. Slayer is better for bursting short-lived groups of adds, while Thane is better suited to sustained groups.

Fury vs Arms
Fury is better at practically everything except sustained two-target content, of which there is very little.

Fury Raid Builds

It is highly recommended to visit one of the #dps-faq guides for the most up to date builds, but these should get you started nonetheless.

Single Target Slayer - N/H Salhadaar; Cosmos (better P2/3), Midnight Falls (~equal)

  • Slayer deals the majority of its multitarget damage with Bladestorm, making it better for fights with short-lived groups of adds intermixed with single target. While it can spec into Improved Whirlwind for practically no cost, any fight with enough multitarget to warrant Meat Cleaver would be taken on would be better played as Thane.

Multitarget Mountain Thane - Imperator, Vorasius, Salhadaar (M), Vaelgor, Lightblinded Vanguard, Chimaerus, Cosmos (better P1), Belo'ren, Midnight Falls (~equal)

  • Thane deals an almost equal amount of single target while bringing much more sustained multitarget, though adds need to actually live long enough to warrant Avatar's longer buff period, or else its better to quickly kill them off using Bladestorm.

Other Talent Swaps

  • Multitarget builds drop Enraged Regeneration for Improved Whirlwind, though Improved Whirlwind isn't always necessary to have, and Thane can easily drop Executioner's Wrath or Massacre for it.
  • Stance Mastery is an extremely powerful defensive cooldown, as long as you're actually using Defensive Stance. Slayer takes it automatically, but Thane will have to give up either Thunder Clap or Bloodthirst damage for it.
  • Either Fearless or Piercing Howl needs to be taken for effective pathing, but both are highly situational, so barring any specific circumstance, just take whichever you prefer.
