@drowsy sparrow First of all, in SS its hard to rely on the healer helping you. If u are lucky u will get freedom/root dispel etc.
But, u likely need to use your gap closers and avatar/bladestorm more wisely.
Just to give an example, if a lock ports and u leap u generally should stun him insta as u wont be able to slow him again instantly. (Speed buff)

I was wondering if it would be a good strategy to acquire PVP gear to play all modes, as I sit on some amount of conquest points / honor already, and when yes, which piece is the most important to get (was thinking abiut the trinket, but am not sure)

Tier set, trinkets, weapon are most important
Your CC break trinket can just be an honor one, as it's minor stat difference for upgrading it so I upgrade it last usually
If you have 489 Myth track tier from PvE, that's as good as conquest gear so can just be used (I even use heroic peices because it's only 6 ilvls lower anyways)
Weapon is always valuable to upgrade as a warrior.

Pvp gear is great both pvp and pve. But unless you have the best of best pve gear you can easily transition to pce to pvp.
Trinkets, teir and weapons are HUGE to obtain first if youre going for pvp items specifically
But since conq caps still up i would recommend trinkets -> weapon -> teir. Unless youre playing fury teir doesnt really matter for arms
But teirs still bis for arms but not the highest prior when starting out

i love when healers put dome in objectively the worst spot on the map, then scream if i dont stand in it and face-tank 10 chaos bolts
i also love when healers try and call targets, and their target is the arms warrior 
or when other dps refuse to hit anything other than the ele shaman, even tho tunneling ele literally stops nothing that they do
