conq tokens raise ilvl of a crafted piece to 450 in pvp. It's essential in crafting pvp gear. You get two free tokens, additional tokens costs conquest points at a rate of 1:1 with the pieces they match (875 for chest/hat/legs) so they're essentially two free conq level pieces.
In addition to conq or honor tokens you need a shadowflame spark. We get one at a rate of 1 every 2 weeks (1 fragment per week, 2 fragments per spark). Completing the questline that awards it, awards a full spark when you get your first fragment.
Guaranteed source of fragments: weekly pvp quest from malicia, this week epic bgs and rbgs.
TLDR: You'll want to complete the questline for spark asap on any toon, you'll get a quest for two tokens with the first spark. The crafted pvp boots are strong I think, so you can safely craft that first.
Shadowflame crests and stuff are for upgrading pve pieces.

If you have excess sparks but can't spare the conq points to buy the tokens, you can buy similar honor tokens to craft honor pieces. One good reason to do that is to stack a favorable stat on your rings, since you can have honor ring + honor crafted ring with same secondary stats. Likewise conq ring + conq crafted ring.

Well, I think the choice clearly doesn’t translate to a difference in rating in shuffle since you see a large variety of builds at the top (probably also because the season is so young.)
I think odyns fury is great in 2s and 3s (I don’t play those and I know Mud exclusively does) because that ability can cleave and create a lot of pressure just from that button.
I think Onslaught is great for single target dps - it helps to smooth out the rotation and creates value through additional reck, more rampage, etc. - great for training a “kill target” in shuffle.
I think Annihilators biggest plus in its current state is that it reliably procs Battle Trance.
Both, damage and rage from Annihilator are otherwise negligible as you can drop it to take full Odyns + full Onslaught. Biggest loss in that case is the massive amount of extra healing.
Bottom line is I don’t think any of these combos are particularly bad. But I am also not surprised to see that people that play with and against full teams prefer an option that allows you do get a lot out of hitting more than 1 target or even running raging blow as spammable - something that will be very difficult to pull of in shuffle where people spend the first 2 rounds to see who’s the lobby piñata.

At this point in a season especially, you can probably make most builds work. Especially if you're a mechanically good player.
The reason OF is generally better is because it works alongside the Avatar choice node that non-AM builds always take. It's not just about its damage, it's about it opening up your small burst window... onslaught just doesnt provide as much as odyns fury does when that's taken into account. It also doesn't provide anywhere near as much value as it does for RB-focused builds because of the Slaughtering Strikes interaction. I guess I disagree that the literal 2 button spec needs its' rotation to be smoothed out, but I can see an argument for the burst of rage-gen during reck windows. Outside of that, it provides virtually nothing. If you want more damage, don't play Annihilator, because that was never the point of the build.
