it's a combination of things, if your resources are going into the healer, you're generally doing 2-3 things in order to make that happen;
-taking highly aggressive positioning (this will force your healer in, or at low rank/with inexperienced melee healers, they will let you die)
-allowing classes with high access to control to go unchecked with interrupts
-reducing the number of defensive cooldowns the enemy team is spending to maintain their damage
-typically getting less uptime

As a melee player one of the most common win conditions you have is to exhaust the enemy teams defensive cooldowns or their healers mana
