heroic strike canceling is a way to abuse a bug with heroic strike. while its queued up, your auto attacks (white damage) is treated as if it were an ability attack (yellow damage), this is important because white damage has a lower hit chance so you wont miss as often. cancelling is just to save rage since it wont spend until the attack completes. its sort of an advanced tactic so don't feel bad if you don't get the hang of it for a while
hamstring spam is to fish for overpower procs and deep wounds procs

Just getting in and swinging for your best life is going to be perfectly acceptable. but there are some shenaningans with the deep wounds you can get on with if you want those sweet parses

With current playstyle you want to be playing around 80 rage so while above 80 rage you spam it

You may need to use some heroic strikes here and there to get bellow 80 rage

This is only while dual wielding with 2h you spam quickstrike

Here is the rotation from classic warrior discord:

If your group's priest is a moron and doesn't use Homunculi, sadly you will have to Sunder Armor up to 5 stacks on pull and you will never parse. 💀
1️⃣ Wait for 80 rage to proc Enrage from Consumed by Rage
Do not use rage on any ability until you are Enraged, unless an Overpower proc is about to expire. If you lose Enrage, pause everything until you are Enraged again. Raging Blow doesn't cost rage. Use Bloodrage and Rage Potions to reach 80 rage faster.
2️⃣ Raging Blow
Use Raging Blow on cooldown whenever available. Bloodrage and the Enrage effect from Consumed by Rage enable Raging Blow.
3️⃣ Overpower
Use Overpower following a dodge whenever available.
4️⃣ Quick Strike (🪓 2H) or Hamstring (⚔️ Dual-Wield)
Dump rage with Quick Strike (if 2H)/Hamstring (if DW) to maintain your rage between 70 and 90 for constant CbR refresh. QS/Hamstring is an extra attack that can generate more crits for Deep Wounds, more WF and more OP procs.
5️⃣ Heroic Strike
If you struggle to dump rage fast enough with QS/Hamstring or find yourself at risk of capping rage due to consecutive WF procs, queue Heroic Strike punctually to dump rage faster.

We have a lil' discussion about the weapon attack speed on Protection Warriors in SoD with the introduction of Devestate.
I still think, that a faster weapon is better on single target fights for getting more rage and therefore more casts on other stuff like devestate etc. only on trash with much mobs on you it would make more sense to swap to a slow weapon for more cleave dmg. what is your opinion on that? could not find any good info on the web sadly.
maybe someone has a good info on that with a source.

I’m not sure what the threat is on devastate but going a fast weapon(especially a dagger) you’re going to get the normalization penalty as well as having less control over your rage since on autos you heroic strike you cannot generate rage

That rotation is not one size fits all

In terms of actual threat it’s going to be like

Revenge > heroic strike > devastate

In terms of rage starvation it’s going to be like

Revenge > devastate

And you’re not going to want to use thunderclap or demo shout on the boss if the boss is already debuffed

And if you’re not taking a lot of damage there’s no point in wasting your rage on shield block unless you need to proc revenge

Some ppl told me there are 90% warriors and I should definitely go as Druid. They also told me there are way too many tanks.

There's so few classes that it really doesn't matter if you perceive there to be more of one then the other, in the end as long as there's people playing regardless of your roll you can get a group on most servers in 10-15 minutes of stalking the LookingForGroup chat

The only thing you gotta know is that we know for sure warriors will be good when endgame hits

the rest is up to whatever blizzard will add with runes and new gear, for the other classes and obscure specs

Someone found 3 target dummies with 3 statues behind them each with a different set of weapons, might be a warrior rune. They're located in the Rustmaul digsite in the Shimmering Flats

I think the 3 weapon types correspond with either warrior specs or warrior stances, one has a 2h sword, another has a one handed hammer and axe, and the third statue has a sword and shield

if your arms and running SS, the best build to me has felt like, flag, frenzied assault, and endless rage, you always have flag up for you sweeping strikes which double dips, you can stance swap after push SS if your bloodrage is down and push zerker rage to proc flag again

alternatively you can replace frenzied assault with consumed by rage and stay only in battle stance and have flag and consumed by rage up and have GIGA burst damage with sweeping strikes

No, fury you miss a ton without +hit gear. Two hand has lower hit requirements. Both are rough because you've outleveled the gear you have on the most gear dependent class in WoW unfortunately.

Hey everyone! I'm curently playing SOD and just finished my first Gnomeregan raid with my guild as the MT. The loot rules in the guild are as follows: the MT have gear priority over OT and dps even if the warrior tank shares some gear pieces with other classes/specs due to the pivotal role of the MT in a rading team. At the last boss this BIS ring for tanks and dps dropped and i had to roll against a few dps. In the end a druid won it because quote "i can get a green ring with stam" after i clearly struggled with keeping threat all raid. Do you think it was the correct decision for the bennefit of the raid team and how are the rules for the MT gearing in your guilds? Cheers!

i think you need to discuss it with your guild, look at how casual last season was if people are going to get this upset over loot distribution they probably wont stick it out anyway.

I can confirm as an human arms warr with the epic mace i can crit 1600 and with the precise timing rune in pvp it goes like this: hamstring, mortal strike, smash ,execute rip. With a bit of heal i can kill 4 until i die. Add a feral druid to get wild strikes and you can have fun.

Hello, I'm playing warrior tank in SoD and me and my other wartank teamate are experiencing threat issue on The Mechanical Menagerie : At pull, rage potion + bloodrage (with the 25%damage rune) the tank that has to take both chicken and squirrel use Sunder Armor (with devastation rune) 2 times on each, Thunder clap (with rune +dmg +threat), Revenge asap, damage dealer are on hold, and after few seconds one of the two mini boss is running after the druid heal. We spend 3 hours trying to figure it out why and how.

Checking the logs, I can't find any warrior tank in deep prot spec but only tank (they're using the devastation rune) in arms or furry spec. We tried all, arms, fury and deep prot with the same outcome.

We're also taking a lot of damages that I can't mitigate more which leads the healer (druids) to generate a lot of aggro.

So the situation is not enough aggro and not enough survivability which is something I never experienced.

Do you guys have experienced something similar or have some tips for us ?

It's a combination of things.

From what I've heard, bosses in Gnomer have 4.5k armor. Which is a silly amount and evidently more armor than Molten Core bosses. Low white hits means our rage generation takes a nose dive, as well as our threat generated from autoattacks.

Devastate rune had been nerfed by about 30% prior to Gnomer coming out, and none of the Belt / Boot runes really affect our threat output an incredible amount. Focused Rage is fine, but its not... excellent. The slam runes are fine for dps, but due to the rage starvation issues, we can't make use of Precise Timing and only Heroic Strike and Bloodthirst can trigger the effect of Blood Surge while in Defensive Stance.

You'll have to link the logs for me to tell you why the druid healer was picking up aggro specifically, but I suspect they're still slamming star surge + free wrath, which is unsurprising and still decent.

sounds like best thing you can do in this situation is be ready to tab target and taunt whichever one runs out the healers are going to need to heal you if you are taking a bunch of damage

Ofc but it makes what should be a marathon fight (compared to other SoD encounter), a cahotic mess with sweaty tank running around the room. When we succeed to retake the aggro from the heal, it will happen again 15 to 20 sec later and with a hit cap of 6%, there's a huge probability for the taunt to fail, so in the best case it's happening at the 3rd aggro loss and we finally wipe. I understand that blizzard nerfed the wartank and make the encounter especially harsh for us, but still you can find fights on youtube with 2x warrior doing it absolutely smooth. So there's obvioulsy something we can improve and I want to figure it out what

In my case thats dd taking aggro and not heals. In this case im focusing to take as much as threat on one miniboss and the second tank helps me to hold aggro when my taunt resist. TC, devastate, vengeance and shield slam are my priority to keep aggro. WF is needed to have enough rage to spam. Sometimes i ask for lower on dps maybe you can ask toreduce heals on one and the other heal will have to focus more on tank. They hit not as hard and you have to Block as much as possible

and as u can see in the first 30s of the encounter hes just pressing sunder, revenge, and taunt

in the log the first sunder targets the squirrel

then he IMMEDIATELY tab target taunts the dragon and builds threat on it with the following sunder

then just sends sunders into the squirrel for awhile until he has to taunt the dragon again at 28s

so its legit just tab target taunt as soon as u lose aggro

Unfortunately, I don't think deep prot is viable until 50 when we are probably getting Shield Mastery and Sword n' Board. Vigilance will also help here for all warr tanks.
I'm tanking as deep arms (1h + shield) with points in sword spec and it feels pretty good.

I'm a warrior and im general I'm happy, but I've kind of fallen into the "im just a warrior and the runes aren't that interesting" and then I look at druids having a lot of options and builds/specs. Hey guys. I think I know why I’m having a hard time really enjoying my warrior lately. I would love to hear your thoughts on it too. This isn’t meant to be a salt excavation or anything, just my honest struggles.

1. I don’t feel like I do anything better than any other class
2. I wanted to be the weak guy when alone, but the juggernaut when supported. Currently I die just as fast as everyone else, if not faster because I have non defensives (pvp)
3. I don’t bring any utility to the raid, which is normally ok because I top the dmg charts, but now everyone else does as much or more dmg (pve) - I know I scale better then most, but it’s rough going

Please prove me wrong or let me know if I’m misinformed, because as it stands right now I feel like I might as well play something else before I commit too hard. (I’m lvl 40 with decent gear and have done 5/6 gnomer, so I feel like I’ve given it a try at least)

You have shouts, sunder, and a kick as far as the raid goes you are fine ok utility. Just wait for gear to come in, we will perform fine. As far as pvp goes we are one of the few classes without a good way to one shot. We still do fine though or at least I do. For blood moon group with guild who can 1 shot you’ll do fine

I don’t think we are in the most amazing spot rn, you aren’t incorrect about that. But, the phase has only been out like a week lol give them some time to tune some knobs and figure everything out

They already said they wanted to wait a bit longer before making big tuning changes this phase

besides this thinking about this again, there are situations in which I do way more damage than everyone else I find.

Dunno, most of class can mostly outplay warrior at a point they can win 1 vs 2 war. Some will need skill for it or some can just tank our damages and kill both of us like sham or melee hunter (okay I know with full cd and disarm it's possible to do something but still). Luckily we're not so often the main focus from other team which let us time to play. the pvp stuff for war is also complete troll compared to other class.

another thing to note about his logs is that all of his kill times for his high logs are very short. The length of a fight heavily affects the amount of dps youll do. He is doing very good damage but when you look at his 2nd log, its not as impressive (although 98% and 244 dps is still very good)

his build isnt bad, I just would warn taking it as gospel at the moment and writing it off as the best, people are still getting comfortable in this new raid and it takes a lil time to figure out what is the "best" build

at the top 1 you also not only have to take in to account rotations, but you have to account for hits. at the top 1 you'll see people with extremely low misses/glancing/etc.

I’m experimenting with a mix of DW Fury with Deep wounds to see how it works, I am not a good player by any means but it just seems like something fun to try considering armour is apparent ignored by deep wounds

As when I did fury 2H it felt horrible in some fights

the thing bigger than parsing strategies is just having the environment tbh. the absolute best thing you can do to help your parse is to lower the overall kill time of the boss 100% so if everyone blasts harder you blast harder in turn

its valid to criticize looking at rank 1s, but also looking at parses towards the peak of the curve is also misleading because of stuff like player deaths or fresh carries that artificially tank the average
granted this does apply to all classes to some degree, but its a variable outside of class design which can taint future predictions as people get used to the fights over time

That’s the reason I went into every boss following what he was saying, and I filtered it out to 95th %. I agree with you whole heartedly that the metric I was used originally wasn’t the best, though I think using the top 1 to prove the point he was trying to make which, was wrong, was much more egregious
