So, I have an issue where I get a very small stutter/lag when entering combat. It's not big but very annoying to me.

I have narrowed it down to my Weak Auras. I then purged all of my Weak Auras to prepare for the expansion. Leaving only three, Luxthos Warrior, Spell Reflect, and Season 4 tier buff tracker.

Luxthos Warrior is set to only load when in combat. So 100% this is what is causing me to stutter when entering combat. Any tips on how to fix this?

@crude bane Luxthos's weakaura packs have an "out of combat alpha" setting under Custom Options

Changing alpha upon entering combat might still cause lag spikes though

Because you're still making the game have to do extra processing when combat starts

And you're doing it to dozens of auras

I think pretty much all of the major weakaura pack makers do it

I personally use Luxthos, but I also modify it somewhat because I don't like how it presents Executioner's Precision (I changed it to be a red number in the corner of Mortal Strike instead of a separate icon), and I also rearranged stuff into different sections instead of where they were by default

I would generally advise against creating individual weakauras, just grab a package and then if there's stuff you don't want, disable it. But if try to make things individually, it's very likely that there's important stuff that you're either not tracking, or are tracking in bad ways (e.g. by looking at your actionbars or buff bars or character frame instead of centralizing all of your important information into one spot)

As a result, my camera had this nice feature where when I would lower the camera into the ground to look up, the center of the camera would natively move above my character's head so that I could see large mobs in front of the character. hihi sorry to ask this again.. but anyone's execute weakaura screwed up for fury in particular? i have a wa which tracks Exe usable and SD (Same icon) and set conditions for alpha 0% when not usable, on CD and/or SD dont proc.. but for some reason.. the WA dont disappear when execute is on CD..

i realised that is spell usable doesnt apply the alpha 0% condition.. not sure what is wrong

What's probably happening, without knowing how you setup the weakaura, is that you are dealing with the fun thing which is called 'Massacre', a talent which changes the id being used for Execute 🙂

Hey everyone, after an eternity of playing this game with Classic UI I'm thinking on swapping to something different (i.e. ElvUI).
Anyone around here that can help me out a bit with stuff? I opened the ElvUI options and almost had a stroke.

Little advice for the use of text elements on the frames, it is easier to setup those under “custom text” in the according frame setup. Because there you can modify all settings like size, type etc without changing the general fonts

You just have to had similar “tags” like in the health bar settings. There is also a build in library in elvui settings with all available tags you could use

I personally use the “matching” scale for the monitor size. Elvui has the auto scale function for this. If you scale it up you can run into some weird size/scaling issues with other elements like weakauras. (They can be scaled as well, sure)

There are some additional modules to change the look of the character pane, but I would have to check those myself. I usually just go with the “default”. If it’s just a font size thing, this could be can in the elvui settings ofc

You want to look at the "condition" settings for the weakaura

Set it to enable a glow if the remaining duration is less than some amount (I would typically recommend 30% of Rend's base duration since that's the pandemic window)

Use an add-on called bugsack to find out what the error is

The most recent patch a few days ago broke a significant number of common lua strings. Just about every single weak aura and addon will need to be adjusted.

I would install taintless and see if it fixes it. It fixes a lot of deprecation related issues.

Need a little help / test if anyone will indulge me.

I've noticed stuttering while in combat and realised it's whenever I use an ability that forces an icon change. For example, when Rampage changes raging blow intro crushing blow, or Bloodthirst to Bloodbath. It lags most with Luxthos (or the other ones you can get) and its better with that turned off, but still does a tiny bit with normal bars too.

Anyone willing to see if it happens to them and they've just not noticed it? or know of this issues themselves.

I can use any other ability and it's perfect, no lag at all, high fps throughout (140+) but yeh when abilities that force icon changes it happens. Really, really bugging me.

As I say, raging blow changes icon, to crushing blow.

Any ability that forces an icon change when used, causes a significant frame stutter unfortunately.

Not personally. Nor have I heard of anyone having that issue. But to let you know. Wow dumps it's temp memory on a hard coded ten seconds timer. If you have high performance add-ons, things like allthethings for example, every ten seconds on a timer you will get a micro frame stutter guaranteed

If your stutter is happening exactly every ten seconds, then that would be your problem. I have a video explaining this if you need me to link it

It could be. There are many events associated with an icon change that it would be hard to determine. Have you tried making a weakaura that simply cycles an image endlessly to see if you can replicate the issue that way?

All I know so far is that my warrior weakaura (ones everyone uses luxthos etc) it's worst with that, without it a lot better but a more minor stutter with stock bars. like not gone completely.

all add ons updated, even removed a bunch. got bugsack/grabber and nothing popping up.

Also done a ridiculous amount of graphical changes. Vsync on/off, Gsync on/off. Graphics all on low, high etc. Got a few more ideas to try but yeh.

going to turn every addon off other than the weakaura one with the icons and see if it still does it with just that hm, need to get home first though.

OMG i actually found the issue! it's Reckless Abandon! when thats talented, it causes stutter after Rampage.

They have to install themselves to see it. Plater makes it pretty easy to share scripts through that same interface in Options > Scripting so you can share it with friends easily.

did you have the same issue? the guy who reported it a year ago found the cause to actually be a macro he had on his action bar lol.

i still get a very slight stutter with all macros removed from action bars but it's a lot less than with them (one will be the culprit but haven't tested yet, been out today).

mental how a macro, on the action bar, causes reckless abandon to cause frame stutter though?! like wtf.

Afenar doesnt get updates anymore, atleast not his own ones. Other Authors continued to work on them known as EX Afenar (Afaik this is what happened) Both do what they are supposed to. It just comes down to what u prefer, layout wise or how everything is shown

I would not recommend using a weakaura for this.

The crit chance of bloodthirst is not something that you will use in rotational decision making, so it just ends up as a distracting part of your UI that you shouldn't look at or care about.

After looking at it a bit, I'm not even sure if the APL has a way to get your current crit chance (even ignoring blood craze, which would be easy enough to add in from what I'm seeing)

Like, you can do a conditional from crit rating, but that would be a giant headache since you'd have to calculate the crit chance with DR and add any relevant talents

more people have documented this issue now, seems to be more than just me. Still there after the recent hotfixes too.

Seems to be when using Luxthos and other weakauras (I use Afenar) but specifically, when using the abilities RA effects. If I don't load Rampage, RB/CB or BT,BB it is 100% smooth, if I load those abilities it stutters when using them.

Not sure if this is a backend wow issue, or weakaura issue specifically but it's there.

I reckon it's there for more too, that just haven't noticed as it's minimal with some auras, and more noticeable with others.

I posted on the GitHub issue tracker https://github.com/WeakAuras/WeakAuras2/issues/5387, but the issue is closed. I believe they mentioned they're investigating it in the alpha channel of WeakAuras. So, I guess it's a wait-and-see situation.

For some reason I can only get weakauras to display Bladestorm when I have Slayer hero talents activated. Anyone running into this?

even the premade auras won't show it when in thane spec

just make sure you have your cooldowns in place you can easily see them, you can easily do this with the default UI if you want. Make a 3x4 skill bar to left or right of your character, size it however you want etc.

I don't I think it's that new, but it's fairly obscure. I'm a big fan of ExtraQuestButton, which binds usable quest items to your extra action button so that you don't have to click on the tiny icon next to the quest log or drag the item to your bars.

So, for the longest time I've had a weakaura for Execute, to show whenever I can use it (Sudden Death proc, or just target being at the appropriate hp %.
Lately, I've noticed that using the "spell usable" condition doesn't work correctly, as in it's showing me I can use Execute even before the mob hits 20% (and no, I have not specced into Massacre).
Is it bugged where the game just considers the talent to be selected?
Should I use a conditional based on target hp in stead of "spell usable"?

Nevermind, I think I found it. The spellid I'm using for that weakaura is the spellid of "Execute" when Massacre is talented.
I never knew the normal fury execut, prot execute AND massacre talented execute have a different spell id

ah I'll post here, they said they fixed it in the alpha build that would release before the raid, an update came out today. I still had stutter when I first logged in but then it seems to have gone so.

haven't had chance to fully test it

but yeh was an aura issue the weakaura devs said.

people that didn't notice it either have beastly computers, or just don't notice minor split second stutter.
