Hey, how important is weapon damage? I got Crashing Thunderhammer in vault with a top weapon damage of 17.5 k, simming it vs Dessias which is very similar that has 21 k. Other than that the stats are very similar. (Crashing Thunderhammer has a higher min weapon damage)

Yeah I'm mainly thinking about the weapon damage ranges, the sim places them equal, but I think it's the vanilla mindset of "higher max weapon damage == bigger crits"

the vanilla mindset is wrong because everything is normalized now, you wanted slower weapons in vanilla because abilities didnt have to go by the rules of a weapon also being slower, so your abilities benefitted greatly when a weapon was slower since it would take the damage done by the weapon but apply it to a non swing timer based instance of damage
this isnt how it works anymore now though, it is normalized based off the dps number while your auto attacks fall in the range of "10,164 - 21,111 damage"
which amongst 2 equal ilvl weapons even with slower speeds and different damage ranges, will never have a affect on your dps positively or negatively
all of that also applies to crits and stuff

Arms and prot like the same stats so if you gear for prot with haste/crit your arms should do mire dps than your fury spec

Yeah you’ll be fine, save your defensives/pots for usually like the 3rd or 4th time getting it. Usually the healer is spent and close to oom near the end of the fight and is likely focusing on keeping the tank up more than anything.
They should be focusing the person who has it, but, ya know.
So just dstance dance and then whatever else you need and you’ll get it

Tier doesn't really do a whole lot to Colossus gameplay except add SkS (which could be good or bad depending on how much you like it), but Slayer is a little more exciting due to the increased SD procs and priority
Nah its pretty shitty to have your hero spec cast cancel in any scenario
Especially when it isn't like we are dealing many more times dmg than any other spec that doesn't have such gameplay
I just feel like Slayer, while very strong, is also kinda bland. No new abilities, nothing really shiny or cool (despite all of the talents being useful and upgrades, obv)
If there was a risk reward angle they might have a case but the reward is being a dps class in wow

This is always a popular idea, but doesn't really work in practice; you can't balance very well around a risk of failure that's dependent on group-skill rather than RNG
I kinda miss the times when big number crits still made me tingle and warriors were these unstoppable powerhouses. And not just.. idk, homogenized ability animations and a kinda watered down class identity
I mean... Warriors definitely have big number crits, that's one of Arms (esp Colossus') main shticks
and I don't think the class identity has been watered down at all, if anything it's just always been kind of bland

when people say things like that, it more often reads as "I miss when Warrior was overpowered" rather than any actual complaint with theme, mehcanics, or design... which is fine, but you can't always expect to be the top dog in a game with so many varied classes and specs so 
just kinda something you gotta learn to live with

ironically they repeatedly tried to make Arms a slow spec, but players hated it every time
I'm probably an outlier there ngl
literally every single time they tried it, it was panned so hard that they spent the rest of the expansion slowly speeding it back up
I get the intent, but it's something that's really hard to make feel satisfying
I tend to look at it like playing something like a heavy gunner or using a big gun in other games. Low rate of fire, but landing a shot tears things a new hole
it's other failures aside, I think demo does a pretty decent job of it (that longer cast in exchange for a big hit), and Devoker does it pretty well too
Yeah, I think it's just hard to make that feel good as a melee
with casters, it's easier because you have that cast bar right - even though you're still not doing anything, you get a sense of feedback that something is happening or being built up to
whereas a "slow" melee doesn't have that sense of feedback, you're just sitting there waiting for auto attack resources or a cooldown till you can press a button again
Blizz' solution was to create a rotation of big highs (MS) and lower lows (Slam), so that you're still doing something while waiting for the big button - it might not feel particularly rewarding, but it is at least more engaging than just sitting on your thumbs
Slam spamming will always be the lamest part of the class
well the fact that we can end up in a position where we have to use it multiple times in a row is the real failure there... I think it's actually pretty easy to fix though
slam itself is fine, it just shouldn't be used 3x in a row lol
definitely an interesting point of design philosophy though, finding the right mix between "dead time" and "busy work" in a rotation that still feels compelling
The obvious fix is adding something like "...each subsequent use of Slam increases the change of proccing X by 33%"...
Or hell 50%
I've put forward a few suggestions like that, the easy one is just giving Slam a 2x chance to trigger Tactician
a more complicated one would be something like "Slam reduces the cooldown on Mortal Strike by 1.5s"
slam "spamming" is fine imo as long as the reset feels good. felt good when tactician was on CS, mostly because getting a CS reset always felt really good.
I think there are other factors that go into that though
for example, in Cata you can mix in HS, so pressing Slam twice in a row doesn't feel so bad
Idk its not that bad as Slayer because you know Opportunist hits hard
yeah and in cata you know you're guaranteed to get overpower
I would still hope they do something more interesting with Arms or Warrior in the long term (And I'm firmly in the "TG was a bad idea" camp)

it's just whether you think 2 2handers is cool or silly looks/feel wise.
Yeah, Titan's Grip. It made Arms look less impressive (the guys all about big weapons are now outshined by the guys using TWO big weapons) and SMF (Single-Minded Fury) is about as viable as playing the game with your feet instead of hands
And hey, SMF would be the one class/spec I can see being very fitting for the spam and high amount of abilities per minute playstyle
Anyway I'll give Colossus a whirl for a bit, see if that makes me less bored of warrior

i think colossus is alot more fun than slayer. mostly because of battelord, ms resets feel good
This version of arms requires battlelord and EB to be even remotely. Enjoyable to play
yeah battelord should be higher up in the tree imo. makes overpower feel decent to press as well

yeah I don't agree with that either lol, there's nothing really wrong with current jugg except the gaming, which is mostly the fault of Slayer's increased SD procs
bit of a necro but imo the issue was always that during cds arms felt the same as outside just slightly bigger numbers. especially during sl when u just had cs up most of the time. iftk really makes a difference in how the spec feels.
they can promise plenty, but this is the same people that said they are happy with warrior

I think it’s fair to be bothered by warrior specs not seeing much attention at all when spriest gets reworked for the 5th time

There's nothing wrong with jugg, slayer introduced this problem by allowing you to stack jugg while over 35% - would honestly be a blessing if it just didn't work above execute health percentages
I don't think someone who has no understanding of their prioritization or work flow can really decide if they've had "enough time" or not

tbh the main part i dislike about slayer is that it has cdr on top of the cdr we already have in the kit making it so shit constantly desyncs, i still remember playing court on prog and bladestorm having a variance of 30-40 seconds depending on pull if it was up for certain parts or not
just make it not shorten the duration on rend
does that mean the talent is bad, the placement on the tree is bad, or that the competition is too strong? probably a bit of all three
It's one of the worst talents ever, it needs to have no downsides to be worth using imo

so shouldnt cancel when tank moves mobs mid cast astleast
