I often have people approach me and ask if warrior discord has some secret APLs that aren't public for whatever reason

some communities have tried to do that in the past, but I am not a fan of hiding shit
like we're hoarding the secrets to parsing
I mean we will sometimes deliberate over what should be included in the APL, whether something is too complicated to be worth the potential gain or some kind of middle ground in the case of Bladestorm vs Ravager, etc
and there are some hypothetical increases that never make it in because they're just plain impractical (like charging on cooldown the entire fight)

there are sometimes competing viewpoints as to whether sims are meant to measure the absolute highest theoretical potential of a class/spec/whatever
or whether they're supposed to be more practical, a realistic portrayal of how players will approach a situation
and there's no real right or wrong answer, usually it's a mix of both

We have another arms warrior in raid now who does not care about opp at all during execute and his damage is not significantly lower either
But I havent checked if he eventually runs into rage issues
that's the other part; we have collectively spent a lot of time over the years creating and maintaining very good tools for simulating, measuring, and quantify WoW combat
which can be a really cool and fun project in of itself... but we've become so good at measuring super small differences that people tend to hyperfocus on them
as long as you're rolling your face aross the keyboard, you're typically gonna put out 90-95%+ and while doing things one way may measure 0.5% better, there's also a 10% damage range to keep in mind (just from the class, before considering encounter mechanics, movement, target positioning, specific kill times, personal mistakes, etc)
pull to pull, you will never notice that slight 0.1-0.5% optimization, because you're dealing with so much other RNG; you're just trusting that it will lead to slightly better results on average

which wasn't too bad, definitely a lot better than we started with LOL
we actually had a 2nd Ret instead of the UH DK, but his power went out so we had to swap him out
Idk this entire tier has just been "how many ranged can you fit into your comp?"
and my own DPS went up like 100k because of it 
terrible design when they make bosses that require a certain comp
spread cleave is always a problem
and blizzard likes to use it SO much more than melee cleave
when comparing to a different guild who had a better comp they just had 7 whole seconds of bonking the boss compared to us

On our first day of stix we had like 6 melees or so and managed to dump it down to 2 for kill, the difference is just insane even now
like our comp isn't exactly stacked and adds were still fairly comfortable
I mean hell a lot of groups that blast too hard end up holding dam before the transition anyway so

Stix feels pretty comfortable now; obviously you still have to do the ball mechanics, but everything else is a lot more forgiving
and you end up doing less balls overall as well
I think we'll end up extending mugz, but otherwise we've been farming - we did skip Stix in favor of progging Sprocket the week after our first kill though

if you're playing EP, you'll use it, but you're not hard prioing it because you usually won't take Juggernaut
if you want to play without EP, using any combination of Bloodborne and/or Bloodsurge, then you'll practically ignore it (just a better Slam)
I found out playing EP in dung like top or workshop for more ST is a bait, you get ragestarved so bad.
I think it's all preference
I tried playing 2x Bloodborne and weirdly felt even more starved than with EP, because while Execute might starve you, you will very often use OP in AoE while some target is <35%

Yeah ofc, but i don’t like it at all..
some others have taken 1 BBorne/1 BSurge to smooth out the rage without having to mess with EP/Finishing Blows, and that's fine too - the sim difference is very small and the practical difference feels even smaller IMO
so I'd say just take whatever feels comfortable to you; unless you're pushing +17s I don't think it will make the least bit of difference and if you are pushing those keys... you're probably going to do enough that you can figure out which one is better for w/e you're doing on your own

Guys I need your help. I have a problem changing Specs from Fury to Arms using Equipsets.
My crafted Fury-offhand is also my Arms-mainhand.
When switching from Fury to Arms, the weapon stays in the offhand-slot and the mainhand slot is empty.
The error message "No equipment slot is available for that item." is showing too.
Thats really annoying and if I dont realize it, my opener gets ruined until i manually fix the weapon in the character pane.
Any ideas that might help me?
I dont press a hotkey to switch the specialization. The equipset for arms is set to be autoequipped when i swap into it.
Fairly certain it's just a quirk with the embellishment limit
this is my only embellishment in both equipsets
I never personally found any solution, but you could prob make a weakaura to load as arms when you have it equipped in offhand (if this'd even work)

Then I don't know the cause exactly sorry, but all I can think of that you can really do is try the weakaura method to see if that works, or just personally remind yourself to swap it everytime even if it's annoying

when i try to drag and drop the weapon from the right to the left i receive the error again
i have to unequip it and then the equip works
Just tested it with a non-crafted weapon in both sets and it is the same problem. No crafted items involved at all now.
Anyone had the 1st boss on priory randomly change target at the end of the hurl spear cast and snipe people? Happened to me twice, looking back at the shadowplay clip can't tell at all why its happening.

Can someone please explain to me why every guide there is put cyrce ring as BiS but when i sim myself a mere 658 ring is simming higher than it on 5 targets? Was it nerfed? Or the sims can't really value its power?
Pretty sure it’s because Cyrce’s scales with mastery and Jastor + House of Cards give a huge amount

If both are highlight it means sidegrade so it's within margin of error and both are your top option

They rework Execute and Sudden Death.
Execute now works like Evoker "Deep breath." The longer you hold the button the more damage it does.
Sudden death proc now makes Execute full powered without holding the button.
Slayer can give what Sudden Death currently does.

The only version of "hold-to-empower" I've ever enjoyed was a very early Tinker concept (that actually predated Evokers by about 6 years) that would scale the size of their AoE by holding
- longer hold = larger but weaker AoE
- shorter hold = bigger pinpoint damage
and I thought that was a novel idea because you actually have good reason to do both, and there's a little minigame of trying to time your AoE appropriately
And make commanding shout give more health to those in party

Ok so my proposition for a hypothetical future Execute rework mostly focuses on improving what we already have, rather than just replacing it with something new
- Reduce Bladestorm to 5 ticks over 4s, similar to Fury
- Reduce Juggernaut duration to 5 seconds and a max 5 of stacks
- Change Slayer's Malice to +Execute damage, so that the hero encourages Execute as a whole not just Sudden Death (this is more important for Fury than Arms, but also ensures Execute stays strong)
The intent here is to make Juggernaut's duration so short that no amount of Sudden Death procs could ever maintain it, thereby eliminating the concern of trying to pre-stack it before the Execute phase. Reducing the maximum number of stacks would also make dropping them less painful, since it'd stack back up more quickly as well. It wouldn't always be viable for every boss encounter with target swapping or downtime, but that's fine as long as there are other competitive options, which also means we might actually have a reason to play Colossus or Battlelord on occasion, instead of just Slayer everywhere

From all the help in the logs and review channel I got my first orange parse and ilevel parse in heroic raid and can consistently keep in the top few dps players in my group. Yall do the lords work here helping people improve and not enough thanks goes round for all the time and work people put in here. warrior as a class by far has the most talents in the class tree that relate to damage though
you would think that some of them would be good in different scenarios but you really just pick one thing in everything
On rik mythic do you guys just send sweeping and hope it's enough or do you take cleave for the explosives

some people run colossus, but i just sweep
thats a heavy rng boss though so colossus will only work like 1/10 pulls

Just sweep really and hope your range are not greedy and hit the farthest adds
rik u just send cds on pull then save for third set, first sweep you send when the adds spawn, second sweep you use like 3 seconds after the beam (so it lines up for 3rd set), then third set you send when they spawn
then afterwards you hold cds for the next barrel spawn or if you get 10 stacks of your tierset to proc, the execute goes bonkers when that procs
get wrist speed enchant for 1k more speed
i got 10 stacks of my tierset to proc at the end of the pull when i was holding for barrels and this is boss damage only

you can probably just stick to the st talents for literally every boss and be fine in hc and below
ngl i have a similar question in that regard, but why do so many people use fury on cauldron, rik, and stix, but then swap to colossus arms at oab
if you're moving into mythic you should put some effort in and figure out the best talent setups
dont need to optimize anything for cauldron
because they prefer fury/killed cauldron as their comfort pick and then swapped to arms for prog bosses/idk

Storm Bolt is also an (insignificant) damage increase during Bladestorm
Might have used Thunder Clap while out of range due to movement, or just absentmindedly been in the wrong spec 
The dps gain from TC on single target and vs rend is so minimal. I personally wouldn’t obsess over that unless your trying to turn your 99 to a 100

I’d say most of the skill expression with arms is trying to maintain high juggernaut pre execute phase. I’d focus more on that

if you're bothering to talent into TC, then just use TC everywhere - it's not even worth putting Rend on your bars (which is a good thing, no need to clutter with an extra redundant button)
but in this particular case it's a pure ST boss and so there's no real reason to be talenting into TC to begin with

@smoky kayak This might be a stupid question but does arms use the ABC rule or is it fine to wait for MS if say casting a slam would clip into it
you shouldn't really ever have that issue, since the cooldown divides evenly into the GCD
most things in WoW are designed to, with just a few exceptions
but yes, you should always be casting something unless doing so will cause you to rage starve to a point that you're unable to use a more important ability
Sometimes it feels like Im using slam and its cutting into MS getting off CD but the alternative is to not cast anything for a GCD
if you have a high/default lag tolerance, it's more likely that you're seeing the GCD early as a result of spell queueing, but your abilities should not normally be clipping

if you have an on use trinket just use BIS with your next CS/Warbreaker

I’m trying to learn Arms at the moment and I would appreciate it someone could help me understand the mini burst windows that we have. That’s basically Colossus Smash window right? For ST we try to fit as many empowered Executes, Tactician procs, and Mortal strikes in that window?

When it comes to min maxing Arms then what should I be paying attention to besides reacting properly to procs or resets?
you can manipulate which stats the circlet gives you by unequipping and reequipping certain pieces of gear
for example it was giving me 3k haste instead of 3k crit in m+, both arent bad things but crit is typically better in m+ than haste is
i had to take off my rik reverb neck and jastor diamond so i could lose ~7k haste, then unequip and requip the circlet so it would give me 3k crit instead of 3k haste
then you could requip rik neck and the jastor diamond and you would just have 3k more crit now instead of 3k more haste
im sure this was known already, just strange that it works in a weird ass way and doesnt snapshot based off your base stats without the ring equipped

Stat weights have a legitimate use, it's just not as a metric to choose gear in a vacuum anymore.
yea i understand that principle but i was hovering around 30% crit and haste and even with that gear, my fury was still more competitive

i will then go to top gear and sim a haste/crit piece instead of haste/vers piece and see if it is a increased based off the top gear sim
thats how you should use stat weights (+ gems and enchants), you have to use it with other tools to help you
the worst way to use stat weights is to equip gear in your inventory based off what the stat weights says

for me, the diff between Circlet and the best M+ ring @ 678 is +/- 0.1% (but it's also worth a lil more as fury than arms)

Arms > Fury imo if you have the gear, looking at logs usually has higher overall and higher boss damage, but it does have a little less HP but that should not matter too much

Almost half keys are top boss damage arms, whilst doing way more aoe so not so sure about that one in practice

Since we got unhinged, bladestorm isn't a single target loss anymore so outside of damage reflection phases or specific pvp scenarios where u dont want to break cc it would be useless

Getting back into arms. Quick question. Say tank pulls 12 mobs. I TC and it hits 5 targets with rend. If I swap to another target without rend and TC again will it hit 5 new targets with rend or is it random if it hits a new twrget or reapplies the debuff? Basically wondering how often I should TC on a larger pull.
I think if you use thunder clap again it will reapplies rend to 15 targets for every 1 target 5 more get rend the second time you use it

typically bracers and cloak because crafted items are forced to be 3 ilvls lower than max myth track, bracers and cloak give the least amount of stats so you lose the least amount of total stats by crafting cloak and bracers

its not a % number that you get diminishing returns from, its a flat number of stat
crit and mastery both go on a 10% dr after 21000 rating
vers goes on a 10% dr after 23400
haste goes on a 10% dr after 19800
then around every 7000 of a stat you gain it goes on a extra 10% dr
all stuff you dont need to think about because sims take this all into account
