It just cleaves, it's honestly a waste of time to try to manipulate it except when there's only a few targets
It'll cleave from the target and your character so let's say there are only 3 targets (a scenario in which it's not fully a waste of time to manipulate it), if you want to cleave A and B, try to make sure target C is the furthest from you.
If they're all in range, it's just mostly random
