it's sort of a "theory vs practice" thing

you can look at stat weights and see "wow, i want more haste", but in changing gear you reduce your other stats in other ways, creating a bit of a cat-and-mouse game-- all while doing estimation math on whether or not it's good for you.
Alternatively, sims just say, "hey i put that piece of gear on and did a fight 1,000 times, this one is better in practice"
