When simming and deciding what to take, do you lean towards the ST or AOE results? I can choose between 2 mythic track items. A neck that sims better for AOE or Warpclaw trinket that sime better for ST. I don't think warpclaw is the best for fury but its myth track at least.

if you have no other source of a halfway decent weapon, it might be worthwhile, but as Iskus said, crafting two other pieces of gear is probably worth more (since if you don't have access to a higher ilvl weapon, you probably don't have access to higher ilevel other gear either)
if you do have other sources of gear, then a regular weapons is flat out better since it goes to a higher item level - upgrade shenanigans aside, the main advantage of a crafted weapon is Ascension > Duskthread and crafting a second Ascension is wasteful since the Writhing Armor Band does the same thing on more accessible gear slots
