I've noticed m+ slayer build sims about 1.5% behind thane on dungeonslice but the same builds show slayer almost 9% ahead in ST. Wouldn't that make slayer a better overall tree? Very slight aoe tradeoff for much better st?

Seems a bit on the lower end, but not "bad low". 3m will put you above the avg, and performance got so many factors from deaths, pullsizes and patterns.
