The spec isn't as big and bursty as RA, the idea is that you have CDs up more frequently so your sustained damage pack-to-pack is higher
Give it a solid go, both RA and AM are competitive for Thane and a lot of it will come down to personal preference / playstyle / how the tank is pulling etc.
