It worked because Bloodbath is a temp override and not part of your normal spellbook, the spell isn't known until you press Rampage and gain the Reckless Abandon buff.

• Because the game doesn't recognize the unknown spell, the macro just ignores that first line (the same way it would if you bound Aimed Shot or something else you wouldn't normally have access to there) and casts Rampage instead - once you've cast Rampage, it "learns" Bloodbath and the macro reverts to acknowledging it in the macro, until it is unlearned after the buff is consumed

• If you tried the same thing with Bloodthist + Rampage (or any other combination of your normal spells) though, it'd only ever try to cast the first ability, and therefore fail to ever cast Rampage

• for multitarget, just take Viscous Contempt
• the simple single target change is taking Dancing Blades or Swift Strikes instead
• the annoying single target change is reducing Viscous Contempt to 1 point and taking Onslaught + Tenderize instead
