BFA was an incredible outlier in this regard with corruptions. There was a point in time where trinkets weren’t always the source of dmg and that was in early legion where stat sticks were king. This was incredibly boring, too.
There is a fine line to walk and I think so long as trinkets aren’t doing more than ~7% of your damage in a given raid encounter I think it’s fine.
I appreciate the diversity in trinkets which can let me optimize for a given encounter or damage type.

All trinkets with stats are dmg trinkets by that standard. The detail that stands out is proc damage trinkets.

The difference is that a proc trinket that deals X dmg for Player 1 will also do X dmg for Player 2 even if Player 2 is a worse player. As long as they have the same dmg amps up and the same ilvl trinket.
Player 2 could waste all his tier set procs on casting normal Bloodthirsts while Player 1 uses Bloodbath. But everything else is the same. Trinket will deal the same dmg if its a proc trinket, and P1 will gain more if its a stat trinket.

If the concern is that proc trinkets are boring and pointless because they will always normalize to approximately the same damage regardless of skill or optimization, then nothing really matters if that damage isn’t a significant portion of the damage profile of a given spec.
Every trinket is boring and pointless to that degree. The gear you have will always give you a certain degree of potential maximum throughput, but it will come down to player execution at the end of the encounter.

It's a very poor practice because of how our CDs work, and you need to have things separated either way regardless of having it macro'd together or not

Also, using an elemental potion lasts 30s, using any decent on use trinket will give you at least 15/20s if not more of uptime, so might be better of using trinkets/on use effects on 1st Odyns, makes sense? This obviously applies to the empowerment of BBs and Rampages afterwards ofc
