His Rogue is 60, i helped him gear most of his chars, and he's a good friend of mine. But after trying Subtlety for the 1st time and not knowing the rotation he just gave up and instead started gearing a Mage which he's doing worse than the Rogue tbh.

Okay so brand new to tanking only 227 ilvl so like not amazinf geared. Ive only done like 3 keys as prot. All +5ish. I have pretty solid damage normally keeping up their with the dps and such. I have reprisal Lego and i like basicslly intervene on cd to keep shield block up and i generally have nearly 100% up time on it in combat. But ive noticed that even with that up most of the time my health still fluxuates a lot. Is that normal or do i prob just need more vers. My vers is kinda low since ive been playing fury.

I will say my shield is kinda low ilvl compared to rest of my gear its only like 203 so not even a mythic shield but still. Im sure that will help a bit too

It's Fortified week so they tend to smack harder.
If you have SB up for the majority of the time and steel feel squishy then you have to go a bit deeper, 2 simple things to look for

• Are you also taking unblockable damage? E.g Magic damage, bleeds etc
• Are you turning your back against enemies?

No i generally dont turn i know they have to be infront of me to block haha. Ive only tanked HoA and Sanguine and DoS which has a decent amount of casters i suppose so that could be it.
I may need to be pushing ignore pain more also. I spend a lot of globals on revenge just to nuke down the mobs but i may need to track ignore pain better as well

I usually pull blue with previous pack and heroic throw mini boss in to hallway. Or if your comp is sufficient, pull mini boss with blue. If pat is accidentally pulled, just add it to the next pack to cleave down.

I did do the math on glory + reprisal vs glory + the wall the other day though, and wall pulls ahead in rage gain with tier set equipped : )

obviously less block uptime and less revenges
