Just checking my logic is right, vault options:
200 -> 220 ring
200 -> 216 shield
I think shield 😄
100% shield.
https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-gb/character/eu/wildhammer/jaelthas whats best to upgrade with 4k valor?
Is iqd usefull for prot at all? I got a 223 iqd in vault and 226 crit/haste chest.
Iqd isn't great for tanks no
Oii I'm new to prot in shadowlands and plan to learn the spec by putting it under a bit of pressure in 16/17s and maybe play it in raids in 9.1. But I'm rather torn on what legendary to craft. Should I go for the Thunderlord or The Wall? I wonder if anyone has experience with both and feels a clear difference
Reprisal or The Wall *
Oh really? In dungeons I see people rolling with Thunderlord
The Wall is easier to play with in general as it doesn't require you to pay attention to positionings etc.
And it's useful in both m+ and raids.
I plan to do dungeons only rn
Reprisal requires more positioning/dungeon/class knowledge.
But it's extremely good in m+.
Thunderlord isn't a candidate? I see it used in wowlogs quite often
No.
In general Reprisal for m+.
The Wall for Raids.
Both of them can be alternatives for each other.
just had great success with reprisal on sludge
Reprisal looks super clunky though
Intervene seems like such a pain
To use
Or is it not that bad when you get used to it?
its fien tbh took a while but used to it now
Intervene is easier of the 2 to use
Charge weaving is much harder than intervene
As it fucks with positioning a ton
Ahh that'll be fine for me, used to tanking m+ a lot on other toons
Any macros you guys use to deal with the intervene part?
Its a sign from the gods! First Vault with Prot and a Stone legion trinket 220 in it.
Eyy
220 shoulders vers / mast or 216 gloves haste / vers ?
Confused to see that only The Wall and Thunderlord are being used on wowlogs in the higher keys though (logs only)
probably old logs seeing as we only had new reprisal for one tyr week
That explains it all, tyvm!
Will the Safeguard conduit be a thing? Anything changes in conduit usage?
Am rolling Bonesmith NL with 3 endurance conduits, I guess replacing Stalwart guardian is a thing then (?)
Keeping unnerving focus/brutal vitality
Oh sorry nvm, it's a finesse 😬
Stalwart/Unnerving as your main ones. BV/FBV as your 3rd one if needed.
Alrighty, rolling those 2 with BV. Ty ty
would u guys say there is a big dif in building the wall on cloak over shoulders? i dont pvp really and dont do mythic raiding. i got these 226 shoulders i would hate to replace when my cloak is so low
Don’t panic about it
One of the biggest trouble I’m having is after pride is keeping aggro off Mongoloids. ( NF furry warriors, mages, basically anything with insane burst)
Build on cloak
should i upgrade my 213 chest with 226 chest (both crit vers) or upgrade my lady HC ring with Lady mythic ring?
Are you running reprisal carbon?
Yup.
I’ve found that BSC revenge and another revenge gets me enough Agro to start going through normal rotation
Ok I’ll try that tonight. My best friend is a awesome fury warrior but like I feel like shit because he has to hold aftershock sometimes
I was doing keys as sub 200 ilvl last week with a 184 wep and found threat annoying, I’ve just got a 223 wep and I’m normally outdpsing them 😂
Yea I have a 200ilvl weap and a 184 shield. Been tanking 13/14s
Cloak has the worst stat budget of all pieces available
It's literally the worst slot to put a legendary on
In terms of optimisation
If you decide to stick with the wall for m+, is it then also best to keep playing bolster instead of AM?
Yes
Alright thanks
I'm ilvl 200 and I don't know if I should go for 210 Signet of the False Accuser or 200 Splintered Heart of Al'ar
cheat death stronk, but upgrade stronk
if you dying take trinket if not take ring
consider that you can quite easily get 220 rings especially ones with better stats, but you only get 2-3 chances at cheat death a week
Should i consider Pawn upgrades as a prot warrior or ignore them ?
Does it take survivability into account aswell ? Or only dps ?
I'm just @focus using it on any melee dude in group
Ignore it. 🙂 Pawn is horrible.
I guess you should stop to use Pawn on every class at 60 lvl.
so guys quick question what is the best covenant and legendary for m+ after the updates etc. 🙂
same question switched to prot today, no idea which one to go for D:
people just leaping out and charging back in?
Sometimes yea
Dont always need to leap up but yeah
Lots of charhing and intercepting
Interveneing
I rarely leap out tbh. 😦
You can also kite with your legs and covenant abilities, yea
Most packs are fine with Charge+SB->Intervene->SB->SB
Extra style points 😎
is a 3 ilvl vault leg upgrade (same stats) but losing avoidance worth it? shite from my vault again
fair enough will try the new leggo first then!
Yes
Tertiaries dont matter
Can't wait to get home and get dissapointed by my chest.
Tho i think i'll only get 2 loot choices.
😂
alright thanks friend
what is the difference between kyrian and nf ?
i had 5 226 slots and still got that as my best upgrade haha
yeah i onhce again got crap
how much can you slack on using intervene with reprisal b4 soemthing like the wall would catch up in value
Wdym
What are the worst dj for this week affixes? i have done a SOA and it was pretty tough because i was not able to cut everything
Im a pretty bad dj
yeah i'd imagine you need to be fairly active with intervenes to make it worth it
Last week was pretty much the worst week I think
intervene now use on cd? I guess lol
Yes
like if u use intervene/charge on cd for max value with reprisal
You wanna use intervene, charge and SB basically on CD
Obv not always necessary or possible
There's no clear cut answer to that

If you don't use charge and intervene alot, don't play reprisal
Only charging in once and then never using intervene or charge weaving again is not gonna cut it, you have to use intervene literally on CD at the bare minimum
just not sure if im gonna like that play style 😦
never did it before did some boost runs last night and they dps in there kept asking why i was interveneing them when they werent taking damage and at full hp
If you don't like it, don't play it
It's a game after all 🤷♂️
is the wall still a viable?
Ofc
im not looking to push 20s or anything
Then it don't matter for shit
ye therefore play seismic if you want to
if you wanna play for fun, play for fun my man
what is charge weaving?
i actually think seismic is prob bis for key levels where you feel safe
it always has been
run signet on prot lmao
One legendary being good doesn't make the others obsolete.
The Wall is still a very good Legendary. 🙂
the wall + bolster makes you super tank
now when i was watching plka he was saying he liked the wall over thunderlord for m+ b4 reprisal was changed.. even thought he guides were saying thunderlord is better for m+.
1.30-2min cooldown average defensives
Charging mid combat.
Stun->Go out->Charge.
Leap->Charge
And stuff like that to get the benefit of Reprisal.
So "weaving" Charge into your rotation.
ok thx
but it's just not enough
considering you will have to spam TC that doesn't do enough dmg
and probably run unstoppable force to make the most use out of the legendary
Thunderlords and The Wall both work for m+. It was just a personal preference from him.
maybe ill start with the wall and when i get more soul ash ill make a reprisal and play around with it
Now with Reprisal it's The Wall and Reprisal.
if they added TL as a last row talent, it'd be quite interesting
yea from what it sounds like not many of the high key pushing warriors like the play style of reprisal but playing it because of how good it is
☝️
lol
most def
no it has the most offensive, not defensive smh
How much % of time your shield block should be up in m+ with reprisal in average?
pretty much as long as you're getting hit
80%+ effective uptime.
For M+, which conduits provides more value? The one that boosts Rallying Cry or the one that reduces CD on Shockwave.
Safeguard/Rallying Cry.
🙏🏼
Best served cold or booming voice with reprisal?
BSC
Reprisal would be so much better if we had intercept back rather than the charge intervene combo
Which is why I'm loving holy paladin rn..
feet or legs for leggo or doesnt matter? 🙂
I went for legs just because I already had TL on feet
You know.. in case they ever let us use more than 1 leggo
Prolly wouldn't run reprisal with TL tho
Cuz you'd be gimping either one by having to pick between BV/BSC
True
Reprisal+seismic damaj dream
Haha
Or reprisal+wall mitigation dream
Are you guys still running bolster with reprisal?
No
Si
Gracias
80% sounds really high, if you are lower compared to that, am I doing stuff wrong then? >.<
It's 80%+ effective uptime not overall.
If I’m just learning prot and tanking in general is the wall preferable to reprisal or is it ez pz to make good use of?
Mostly doing mythic plus for now
For ease of use i think wall is safer
With reprisal, you just have to be aware of your charge/intervene CDs (WAs help with that) and then plan the movement.
For a brand new prot warr, wall would be much more straightforward to use while you learn the flow of the class
How do I make the best use of intervene? I understand it’s a pretty powerful cd. Do I just use it for reprisal or use it for when it would actually help the group?
use it for your shield block uptime 99% of the time
you might want to save it for a specific ability every now and again
So for the most time ignore the group benefit and use it for reprisal after the initial charge proc falls off?
Same for raid?
I’ll probably craft one leggo for a few weeks
There are not actually many places where you would need to use it for the defensive value. Most fixates can be Soothed off.
With Safeguard it gains value but in general you would still use it on CD for Reprisal benefits - just look to target the people who have a dot on them for example.
Basically on CD
Pretty simple
Can we check this on our logs?
Damage taken->Melee->Hits.
Alright I’ll stick with reprisal for now and just learn to get guud
Has anyone tried Bonesmith's Ravenous Pendant node (the heal one)? I gave it a go in a ToP this week and it felt good but didnt look to do a lot of my overall healing (funny enough, Spitefall also counts for the heal :))
What finesse recommended? Safeguard?
Honestly if you charge, SB, wait a few seconds, then intervene a melee, by the time that initial set of SB is wearing off you'll have two charges of SB, by the time those are dropping you'll have another charge of SB, and right there's 32 continuous seconds of shield block
Thx
Which is enough time to thin down most packs enough that you're gonna be in good shape even if you're not perfect about using charge and intervene on CD
Ime so far
Reprisal is very easy to use if you don't overthink it
And you'll still get most of the benefit imo
And if after that opening burst of shield block you're in trouble, leap away and kite a bit. With BSC, the two guaranteed super charged Revenges, and spamming revenge, you'll have enough threat to kite a bit (you need to do like 5, maybe 10 seconds) then do the whole cycle again
I just tell my druid to trees and dps for a bit and run out when trees get low to begin again
Yeah there's lots of ways to skin that cat
I pug a lot so I tend to assume I have to be entirely self sufficient and any group support I get is a bonus
Had a druid last night dropping trees and cyclones and blowing around the Spiteful ghosts and I could have kissed him
Im liking my warrior more then dh when with friends but will say i hate pugs on warrior more then i do the dh
Warrior is definitely hungry for external support
Makes damn good use of it and provides a lot to the group, though
I think warriors absolutely rock, especially with Reprisal.
Ya nearly completed a 14 on first day warrior hit 60 at 162 ilvl last boss pf just proved to be too much, mainly cuz also had a fresh 60 dps too, but been farming 12s solidly now for gear, dh def couldnt do that even in a organized group
Damn respect for the healer you brought to that 14 😄
Everything went well til last boss then nust had to call it, the dot was too much for how little health had, we neary killed it first go but then it just started getting worse and worse each attempt so called it
Pf last boss is a bitch with bad dps
Think we were running on momentum that was lost when wiped
We once did that boss with 2 firemages
Safe to say, you will struggle alot
1 phase the boss evaporates, then you sit on 2 mages doing less than tank dps farming their combusts back
Adds not dying so you have 2 slappers up
Gg
Ya our monk main was on his new shammy, if he had stuck with his monk foe that key i think we would have pulled it off
Agreed with Terence, your healer has balls the size of Jupiter
I mean it's fine tbh
First wipe was only 5k on boss after that we just seemed to fall apart
Was a feelsbad but was fun
If you don't have pugs, especially in PF you can get away with being undergeard
The bosses don't hurt tanks, neither do mobs
Half the dungeon plays itself
Ya i love my healer though
Lol
Well the packs before 3rth boss are pretty nasty, and the island pack also packs quite the punch
3rth
^
Only thing scary is my boomie and my healer started dating, its like workplace relationships, as the tank it makes me scared if things dont go well with them what could do to group
Ya can only hope things go great for them cuz otherwise i lose a great boomie or great healer, but just gotta go woth the flow
Both are great
Agreed, it will end in misery or babies either way it ruins groups 😄
Cuz a) one is bound to be worse than the other
b) they only ever play together
c) if things go south you lose 2 players
just tried tanking first 14 key this week and got pushed like a clothie, tryna go over everything make sure im doing it right, what talent with reprisal are people using for level 50 tier?
AM
logs?
I didnt log, expected it to go much better
Reprisal pwar is the hardest tank to play
im also on a laptop so logging makes it want to explode
So don't expect instant results
Ofc, i actually did muchbetter last week
since last week ive gained 15 ilvl and lost 400 haste
As a momentum dh main i found reprisal really easy to slip into
Well that's just tyra vs fort then Mijae
Rly? Logging shouldn't stress your pc
People underestimate the influence of tyra vs fort
Fort = more tank dmg
Tyr = longer boss fights
yeah, gonna give another key a go and log it
Also for some reason people think they need to save cooldowns for bosses, and not just use it on trash in forti weeks 😒
What’s your ilvl atm?
210
Shield or scale
https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-gb/character/eu/wildhammer/jaelthas if you have any suggestions im welcome
Everything else just safe until you get shield and scale
Trinkets are fine tbh
I see no issue
ugh panicked a bit on my first key today when spiteful spawned and i just saw red nameplates all over the place
0 help in survivability tho? 😛
So?
I don't use defensive trinkets either
nah not really im only average tbh
ive played prot warrior less than 6 days :p
but ummm dont run heavy reprocussion
ive swapped now
run AM
i asked and its been swapped 😛
they were talents i was using for raid
If you have plater or another nameplate mod you can set up custom colors for spiteful @orchid frigate
3/1/1/1/2/3/1 atm
Cuz i agree it can be a but offputting seeing all those red plates as a tank sometimes
I got me a big 226 scale yesterday 🙂 I love it, but I wished I had more keybinds
I feel like my Prot Warrior just has too many damn buttons
aah ok. will look into that. thanks!
If make use of your modifier keys i dont think there is any class that should make you need any crazy keybinds
I think the furthest key from neutral i press is shift-r or shift-g
Mostly its all around my wasd with modifiers
i can comfortably do up to G/t
I just added some streamers into the F.A.Q section for a Prot PoV.
If you know of any other solid and educational player/streamer that plays Protection Warrior let me know and i will look into it.
thanks for this Mwahi, definitely helpful
Prot warrior streamers are hard to find
I'm new can I get some help pls? Which one do you think would be better for raiding and m+?
how do i view my overall block rate in logs?
damage taken, how many hits were blocked
yourself -> damage taken -> mouseover melee hits
is it counting them as parries because im seeing a lot of parries and no blocks 😛
nvm seen
How does simming work for mitigation?
I thought it was just for dps
68% block , i feel like that needs to be much higher right?
Neither trinket will provide that much mitigation, or will be very 'close'
idk how strong the 226 spike is after buffs and shit
but it was pretty mediocre before
im a big fan of alacrity tho
always a big fan of stats
is that mine erga?
yea
why cant i see that
cool thanks bois
82% is solid
okay 82.5% block, i feel like thats a more approachable number
dat pretty good
Yup, don't you love reprisal?
if dps is bitching about it they're prolly just trash
I mean, is it any different then a VDH jumping out?
tank and mobs gotta move in m+
I mean if fo the leap out and charge fast enough mobs dont move a ton
Better then dh leap and kite to Africa
Yeah my mage was Hella confused
Why I move out this much
(we did 9 keys together) and he still doesn't understand
LEL

just tell them youre standing still and that they are lagging
I move a lot, unless I need to face tank cause of anti kite mechanics
bust your load, run away, throw axe
He's just baiting but still
If the mobs don't stand still perfectly still
He will complain

lmao i just started playing with an ele sham
holshit, i was always hovering on the bar...
im trying so hard to stand still
Dem 4 second hard cast flamestrikes be like that though
such degenerate game play for fire
agreed
I dont know what they need to do to move away from the current style of fire, but it just aint fun sometimes
Honestly most mages prob better off frost
Guys, could you please tell me your best route for TOP 15?
I would say they will swing the pendulum to far and nerf fire to much come 9.1 but they haven't nerfed fire for the longest time in pve and pvp so
Fires value is mongo pulls around combust most keys arent run in an ideal way for fire
well they actually 'buffed' fire by buffing one of their class specific legos
now they casting frost bolts
Go the gladiator wing, then do first room of the disease wing, go to ghost wing, take right Portal then left Portal, then skip the 1 big patrol in disease wing.
I usualy go for Sense’s one, where you take portals first, Right left left, then take first adds on Xav’s room and go back to Gorechop, them Xav and bam
☝️
he knows de way

Im a big fan of intervening whoever annoys me the most with pride
Thank you all
With 2 hunters in the group should anyone pull threat from me ever?
One of the hunters MD the other would 🤣
They need combust to not affect flamestrike and reduce FS cast time.
I think there should be more of a incentive to cast fireball into a hotstreak flamestrike rather then hard cast flamestrike. Granted, I am not a mage theory crafter or class designer and only play my mage for the funs
switched from mage to warr just because i thought hardcasting flamestrikes was shit gameplay
My shamans namn is sharkbait, did you also get it from "Finding Nemo" ? xD
Isn't Sharkbait the parrot from the first boss in Freehold?
Might be. Only did it a few times since I started playing again late bfa so can't remember ^^
It's kinda burned into my mind. I fucking hated Freehold
Ok, Freehold may not be Junkyard with dem shockbots, but hate is a strong word
Is IQD any good for us?
gives massive stats, CD probably lines up with something relatively easy. Aint bad
and thats if another condition isnt met u get the stats
and thats just another weakaura to track -_-
Im personally not a fan, but I wouldnt avoid using one if you have it
i mean IQD is a bait
you think so?
I'm getting my ass completely blasted on M Inerva anyone have some pointers?
she do that
call for externals if you need to block shades that spawn behind oyu
i run the wall/am and try to wall every time i get 2 stacks and use my rage on IP when im not actively tanking
that dot fucks
Are you running AM sandwich
no
Consider running am there for lower wall uptime, you can’t block the dot damage so bolster isn’t as strong as bosses where most the damage is white hits
turn to face the things, swap at 1 stack from about 65%-25%
run AM as u get more Shield walls
if your running the wall
actually spamm IP
yeah I'm running the wall
you wall the dot while not actively tanking? My cotank instantly taunts when I get 2 stacks
yeah the dot is fucking retarded
Dot is a big boo boo
damn
from our kill last night
there is a point in the fight for about 40% where u can swap on 1
makes it a less hurt
ok we'll try that
its like 65% we found
she also has a very fast melee attack (like a auto per second)
but the dangerous part is the dot
also you can be targeted by the add spawning mechanic on 3rd/4th set of adds
and 5th potentially idk
Are you many attempts in? When you get a handful of attempts, you’ll identify the spots in the fight where you are most likely to die, for me, it was during an add set with the dot while one of the healers had linked. Those are the good spots to wall
and thats a like 28k shadow damage hit so be sure to spell reflect those sets
whats the CD on Shield Wall with AM and the Wall
1 min ish
Depends on your haste and ability usage too
yeah and just lucky ss resets
It was our first night of prog after reclear. Only like 14 pulls. I'm just asking because I haven't been scared of dying in any mythic fight until now.
healer familiarity could also be a part of it. they can be targeted by geometry again so if they have to go do that and it takes them awhile youre essentially 2 healing until people figure out how lines work
IP is actually a strong smooth on M Inerva prog when not actively tanking. Start using it aggressively and then back off as you get more comfortable
You'll find some pretty natural SW points where it makes a big difference
I think I started rolling mine almost off the bat after the first tank swap
I just press button
👍
Also assign 1 healer to be tank bitch
We once killed it with rsham double priest, forced one of the priests to go holy and focus only on tanks, otherwise we'd just flop
Is one healer still always picked for geometry...been awhile since we've recleared
If you have an hpal tho he takes care of tanks alone
We would feel the pain every time our hpal got geometry lol
We killed her like 5 times and never with the same raid comp
Was... Interesting to say the least
gonna pug a key now and trying to help the russian warlock understand that he needs to banish blob on first boss in PF. can i link him the spell somehow?
remember also she can pick a tank for the add spawn, with a prep weakaura you can burn spell reflect on every one and potentially stop a spawn for the raid
think if you grab the spell link from wowhead it auto translates for them when they click it
Darkvein was actually one of our better fights when we were progging on it; our bane are fights with mechs and personal responsibility, but Darkvein felt very brute force
that surprises me
I would have thought darkvein was one of the more mech and personal responsibility heavy fights
superceded only by council, generals, and sire
but I've never set foot in mythic, so it's all conjecture
the only real mechanic was doing the lines if I remember
inervas only gimmick is the triangles and once you get that down its just soaking bottles and not letting casts get off
Otherwise, by pushing her fast enough you dont even deal with the canisters
Personal responsibility, the bane of every shit guild
Amen
Fucking #mood
I have about 35 keybinds and wish I had another 10
I've actually got a few free, but that's probably because I'm bad
We are a bunch of average gamers on a rampage XD
and because they're really hard to reach and would screw them up anyway
Ive actually added a bunch more keybinds going into this expansions with new abilities being added and COV abilities. Most of my toons feel good, but my warrior is just a anomaly
which is also frustrating, since I actually use most, if not all, of those abilities
I've made good use of modifiers
I like to put taunt on crt alt P
got all my CDs activatable using mod buttons
but in all seriousness, yea modifiers are the way to go
I know some people who dont use WASD, but rather use ESDF
I started down that path a LONG time ago
my hand has slowly migrated east over the expansions
now I'm at YGHJ for this expansion
so taunt on P is actually doable for you xD
my taunt's on K
shield slam on F (alt uses demoralizing shout)
my thumb rests on the gap between right alt and the spacebar
We're evolving, just backwards
watch us in a few years use arrow keys like kids games
so I use right alt as my mod button for everything
hahaha
now thats degenerate
I had to step out for a minute, thanks for all the help with inerva
I have all my interface panes mapped to control+button
the only non-numbers I use are G,R, and their shift variants, with G being the only thing to have an actual spell on it
I use the numbers 3-9, but have 1 and 2 mapped in case I ever figure out a good use for them (too far to use well with consistency)
I do admit I might shake things up soon, I've got Stormbolt all the way down at Shift+Num7
and I know my hand is in the correct position because I can feel the raised bumps on f and j on my pinky and index finger respectively.
I'm actually really happy with this setup so far. Right hand gets to stay on the mouse all the time, which gives me great camera control and facing control
how often do you guys use victory rush? i sort of use when possible is this the right thing to do?
yus
try to use it when you'll get the full benefit, but don't wait any longer than that
If you've got other things going on in your brain, using it every chance you get is better than not using it
so err on the side of too often.
But I always design my button layouts to try and keep hand movement to a minimum, the most often pressed buttons front and center, the most important buttons well within reach, and the ones I don't want to use at the wrong time (CDs) in a place that protects them from that (right now, that's hidden behind a mod key)
you can use a WA to track the buff duration so you dont lose it
reduces strain, increases reaction time, and maximizes consistency.
the downside being that every expansion I basically have to re-do the entire layout (although admittedly, this is mostly the same as legion), but I've done that anyway as my hand has migrated east
Yeah, WA can definitely help keep track of when your buffs are available for use and whatnot. But clicking the button at the right time is something that should factor in to your decision about HOW you will click the button
Don't want the o-shit button easy to accidentally press
(that's the macro that uses all available cds, healthstones, pots, trinkets, etc)
But also don't want it so far away that you can't get to it in time
u have a macro that presses every defensive?
yup!
y tho
i dont think that needs to exist
we dont have oh shit buttons
wait we're supposed to have an o-shit button? I thought we just rotate thru our cds and keep em on cd
@obtuse prism u are correct
macroing all of them is not a good habit IMO
i dont have one but i suppose it might be useful if youre gonna die and cant see quickly what you have up? not something you would want to use 99.9% of the time?
It's the button you hit when you realize you're standing in bad floor with no way out, and you don't know which CD's are available to save you but you know some of them are down and some of them are up and you need at least 2 to survive, but you don't have the time to push 2 buttons.
i can hit every defensive on my keyboard in like .1 second
yes, it's very clear that you got there by fucking up
but I've had it save me quite a few times over my career
I put one on every character
admittedly, it's most dangerous on a tank
the whole goal of tanking well/at a high level I'd say is using the minimum necessary CD's to chain them together and smooth your damage intake
yes, you are correct
also being aware of when your cds are coming up/how long they have left etc. I think if it's been a long time and these are things you still aren't aware of, you need better weak auras or a system to track them better
I've also had it save me from supposed-to-be-instant-death mechanics like standing in ravage
ravage prevents healing from happening
you get enough reduction and you'd be surprised what you can survive
so you just need wall and/or ls
What was the big aoe thing the final boss in legion did?
oh lawd
we are talking about like shield wall + last stand vs just one of them if
for a dude who won't be stepping into mythic raid beyond shriekwing, is ritualist's treasured ring (from inerva) at 213 one of our best rings? i'm trying to figure out what i should bother socketing... i have a death god's signet as well that i'm going to boost up to 220 with valor, but j/w what the right play here is - or if there's a second ring from a m+ dungeon that's better than ritualist's at a higher ilvl
plaguefall?
denathrius ring is $$ if 226s are out of your reach
Anyways, I'm just saying if the choice is between dying or blowing all my CD's, I'm going to blow all my CD's and see if we can recover.
sidestep
you guys still prefer the wall over reprisal?
no
not for mythic+
i still play the wall in raid
I'll take the wall in CN most of the time, but depends on the fight
i play repirsal in raid
I prefer the wall on sire
don't get many charges p2
but you get a lot p3 so it's up for debate
definitely want the wall on generals
@jagged pier yeah I honestly didn't know it banged like that
was grabbing plagueroc + big abomination + that first pack with the left plagueborer
is running spectral stam better then power if im 210?
stamina flask is never worth it
cant think of a single situation where id use stam over power
just figured maybe it would be better for 12+ since my ilvl is low
unless you bought a full stack of them a long time ago and need to use them up
power it is then
okay heres something else im confused about i have a dagger and a mace both 210 im assuming the mace would be better no?
even tho i cant use a sharpening stone on it
weightstone
daggers dont have strength.
theres no way the dagger has str on it
Can you even equip it
does it have strength
or int D:

wtf fury
My cotank brewmaster dual wields 2h artifacts
Big mogs
god mog
disgust
if you're only rolling for rings/neck from vault, anyone know if it's better to open vault in arms/fury spec c
or do all specs have the same number of choices offered?
arms
fury has two+one handers
prot has shield+onehanders
arms only has 2 handers
If I’ve never tanked a mythic and only tank heroic nathria what’s a solid key level to start with?
15
Bet
if you do any lower keys you wont notice mistakes to learn from
Well that is true, I don’t know about 15 but I’ll probably kill my 11 key and see how that goes. Appreciate the insight
how do I make a WA cd for phial cant seem to do it right?
pugging two day isnt going well. second try on PF. healer dies on blighted spinebreaker since standing in belch. i get blamed for not turning the mob away. 😦
I thought Fury wielded two 2-handers?
pug over
Trinket Help Please:
[Bargast's Leash] 226
[Gluttonous Spike] 226
[Splintered Heart of Al'ar] 226
[Stone Legion Heraldry] 220
Which of these are best for raid tanking.
spike heraldry imo
In combo with what?
that was the combo
gluttonous spike + stone legion heraldry
^ agreed
When did fury go back to 1-handers?
they can use either or now in sl. think 2 handers are slightly better if equal ilvl
oh, they're flexible. got it
I'm pure prot, so I don't know about the other specs
the vault has gifted me with a 220 and then a 226 tank weapon, so now I play fury SMF offspec, haha
a lot better than my 197 2h for arms
same here, easiest way to offspec
@strong forum what main hand is that? 😮
Is Barghast trinket good and worth using over Splintered Heart of Al'ar?
Just god Barghast trinket 226 and i dont know if its good...
would anyone have a clue to why after i've changed covenants i can't collect souls from the maw? just isnt working I have the usual quest? :S
do you have the quest from before you swapped
turn it off and on again then make a support ticket
alternatively abandon the quest and regrab it
I think the servers in general are kinda pooped now
whats the best conduit setup for Venthyr?
for future reference, I couldnt collect souls because I didnt complete the first campaign thing, but had enough renown from other activities to get the quest by the looks!
thats a fury artifact weapon
how can you use that as Prot? 😮
yeah, the campaign quest to collect souls locks you out of the weekly, that's also why we didn't have a second weekly way back at launch
/cast [nomod,target=party1] intervene, how to always set it up on a melee, I usually keep changing numbers from 1 to 4 till it works
since fury can use 1 handers, it should be under 1 handed swords. they are class wide now with SL
i just tried that, but when i switch to prot it removes the mog 😦
@sweet kayak i have this, probably not what youre looking for 😄 but for me it choses nearest party most of the time
I would probably get out of the habit of intervening like that :/
you should be choosing who to intervene based off of their position or who u can save by giving them a 13% dr from the intervene conduit
yea thats why i have it to mouseover main, and random as fallback
ya nome might be hacing and taking the picture in fury spec
Ok, thanks Pika and Nielsen!
Do you think the intervene finese conduit is better then the rally finese conduit? Or do you run double finese
in raid, probably rally
i know theres something with Frost DK, where they can mog their 1hs to look like 2 2hs 🤔
more so for M+
True, since M+ tends to be a lot more harsh in upper keys than raid ever gets.
and you have 4~ healers in raid
M+ you have a DPS who is kinda healing (hopefully)
I use rally a lot in dungeons; prides, certain boss mechs, and very dangerous packs. With reprisal though, I do intervene pretty much on CD so
is that the general playstyle of high M+? healer is basically a hybrid?
I'm starting to think that the universe does not want me to get KSM. Got my "optimal" guild group on, ready to grind out keys, get to the trash pack before last boss. And my kid has exorcist level vomit all over her room and the hallway.
(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
If your healer isn't on the DPS meters you replace them!
I mean, they still have to pump healing. But groups tend to take less damage from avoidable sources, CDs and routes are planned very meticulously
how would a shaman do dmg then? they only have meatballs :>
i guess thats why HPal and Disc is the goto
the holydin I run with 90% Of her Holy shocks don't get used for healing
use the Earth Elemental glyph
and yeah LB
When Ashen Hollow is down, the only healing you getting is from that
part of the reason why Hpal is now the 'top' healer is they meet the HPS required in high keys, have good dungeon CDs they can plan around, but they can also pump without losing throughput
yea ashen seems fucking crazy
Its a REAL CD
Sadly she's Kyrian
Kyrian also good
not ashen hallow good
less bursty, but reliable
I run with two Hpals, one who uses Ashen and one who uses Kyrian
doesnt rly feel like y ou have a lot of dmg as Resto Sham tho 😦
overall is very similar
You don't
its sad
however resto shm are truckers for healing throughput
would be cool for PvE if the Earth Element LEggo reduced the CD as well
and have 3 major CDs
but it would be kinda OP for PvP i think 😄
If we ever see mages and other lust classes fall out of favor in the DPS meta for M+, shaman will probably take a spot
was vs a RSham in 2v2 who used it, and he did as much dps as the dps for the first 1min
Elemental was on track to be a meta spec, but then they got the legs ripped out from under their CL damage early on
"oops"
Im high on Ele shamans
thats a buy buy buy spec
telling every person I see who has had their class nerfed or changed (mostly hunters) that ele is the new hotness
mine is mage; I know some mages are unhappy since they are now casting frostbolt as fire
prior to this patch if you got your LB rolling it was like dropping truck sized hammers on whoever was unfortunate enough to get hit by you
now, more like sedan sized hammers
"fun detected"
If ele shamans didnt get their BiS lego from the last world boss, I think more people would have stuck with it
But right now, MDI is currently buff the fire mage
XD
Been testing a buff the fire mage comp with banner, it’s pretty nice ngl
I ❤️ my banner
Its because fire has a true "uncapped" AE ability
however, new problem. Who the hell is Kyrian now
that double dips
its dumb
Paladin
Post nerfs in NW, the real question is, who cares?
Augusto are you Necro? Mind If I Pm some questions?

Kyrian legit least impactful dungeon bonuses I swear
Swapped from best PVP covenant, to 2nd best PVP covenant.
sure, or just ask 🙂 I only swapped like two weeks ago
Necro had least impactful till this of h :p
you saying Kyrian is best PvP Covenant?
Negative
1 spear and a golem buff that doesn't affect any of the "pinch" points of the dungeon..fact checks out.
Permanent bloodlust was kinda nuts
what slot would you guys recommend for the wall leggo?
i have reprisal already and only that as its been a neglected alt lol
the amount of dmg in Venthyr is just way better than having that stupid spear that misses 50% of the time when someone blinks
True, you can also condemn BoP'd healers
and provides a little damage reduction 🙂
Shoulder
big PVP gains
i was losing Mirror match vs Venthyr warr who had 10 ilvl less
might be a lot of factors
And all the items in NW dont even require you to be Kyrian
but a Venthyr warrior doing 100k dmg more than me in a 2s, with 10 ilvl less just because he is Venthyr 🤷
10% vers all of a dungeon and further reduced damage and perma bloodlust/extra aoe damage/dr is definitely better than Kyrian bonuses
Yeah, what sort of deisgn oversight was that, the weapons can be stacked up and be WAAAAY more impactful than the golems in NW
But I liked my spermy golem balls
cheers 🙂
ALthough I can honestly say, the NF stuff in Mists is pretty low impact
skipping 1 trash pack and a "if you suck" respawn point
doesn't matter though cause you'll always have a nf in like 90% of keys
it's just gravy
The urns in DoS are big tho
Well to be fair, they were afterthoughts to begin with
gets more people who are not used to it killed.
people seem to underestimate the range
10% extra main stat is pretty stronk tbh
and try to gather everything too close to the urn
the 1 caster pack, people engage before they're moved, and get chunked
thinking mainly for the one before hakkar
Also no NF means really weird routing and prideful
omfg the # of times I've had that turn into a crapball
For mists
There’s always a fae
You can also kill the pack that most people skip after killing tirnan villager pack and skip the one by the mushroom grove without needing anything special
Its just a very tight line you have to follow on the left hand side coming out
ah didn't realize you didn't need stealth, yeah that was the one I was mentioning
since you pull the extra pack at the front
can skip the 2 after the villager
Got prideful on the last pack before Misty twice in a row, felt like winning the lotto
I remember someone showing a lineup of trinket DPS for prot, does anyone have it?
Nome teach me keeps failing for me
Like a police line up?
ok bois
i have a ring question
so i have a 213 socket Inerva ring, and a 220 plaguefall ring
last night i got this
What's it selling for on your server?
not worth unless u play on pushing like 24s and need the vers imo
other take the gold
kk ty bois
how much Valor do you need to upgrade a 210 to 220?
depends on the item
Does anyone have any tips on how to properly make use of intervene? Really struggling with it atm
x3 for three ranks
Want to stay in melee? Intervene a melee.
Want to get out of melee? Intervene a ranged.
For Reprisal? I just use a mouseover macro and when I want the proc, I press the hotkey on the unit frame for someone in melee
Thanks Harrow 🙂
For Reprisal, you're generally just going to be intervening a melee on CD
I also use it to rescue moron mDPS from spite ghosts if the timing lines up
for someone that wants to play a lot of prot and fury, would you recommend night fae or kyrian?
Either
I'm Kyrian and like it, a lot of people in here swear by NF
NF is probably better for Fury, I think Kyrian is better for prot
i think i was leaning towards kyrian
The class abilities are very on par imo, I think phial is way better than yiffwarp
im going to be tanking to get gear more than fury most likely
thank you btw
yoohooooo
The covenants are all pretty damn close in performance, at most they're like a few percent apart in overall score
So play what's fun
kyrian is much better for pvp as well i believe, if i decide to do some of that on this alt :^)
Depends on what you're after. Kyrian is like a couple hundred DPS less than NF.
If you're a pumper NF all the way, if you want a more balanced tank approach (damage/survival) Kyrian is more apt.
☝️
But it doesn't have anything particular going for it over any other covenant.
Is it really? I thought they were almost the same damage output, good to know
No.
Word haha
Pelagos is like straight 200 DPS less than Niya
Oh right the conduits
Burrs is pretty bonkers.
Yeah Kyrian conduits all blow chunks
Also AA hits harder than Kyrian Spear.
Like - way harder.
My spear peaked at around 13K on crits and I busted 21K this morning on an AA in a +16
AA needs 5 targets though
Not it doesn't? The damage isn't increase with targets.
It's just capped at 5.
That said, NF is probably objectively better for M+ because it autokicks casters which can be a huge godsend.
Also the trickle of their mastery with Niya seems to make for a smoother damage intake, at least my guild's healers think so.
I might switch for that knockdown alone, goddamn
Yeah it's really good.
Spear isn't a slouch in M+, but it's only good for melee.
AA is good for melee and ranged.
I pulled up numbers, spear totals 230% damage and AA totals 360%
AAs initial damage is 220%, almost as much as spears overall
It's pretty stronk.
Also with Reprisal we're not really hurting for the ability to stand in place and beat things to death for a while
AA is hard capped, while spear is not though
I'm probably switching lol
I mean, north of 16-17 M+ is gonna smash your head in blocking anyway.
I think they is subjective. You're bound to get the initial kick, but most mob casters are less than 3 seconds long so they end up getting casts off anyways.
You're gonna be dancing in and out, especially on forts.
It does more damage and can stop casts. How is that "subjective?"
Wowhead has them both at reduced damage to targets beyond , in the tooltip
Lol.
Because it doesn't always get more casts off?
It does do more dmg tho
You ain't wrong
You've gotta get one pulse of AA for it to deal more damage than spear
I'm saying, after the first it doesn't always stop casts
Spear says "deals reduced damage beyond 5" whereas AA says "up to 5"
Honestly the thing that pisses me off about spear is the (plethora) of enemies that fucking ignore the tether
I mean... The casts are literally shorter than 3 seconds long. They're not getting stopped
By AA at least
You seem really hung up on the knockdown when even without it it's better.
I'm pointing out arguing it as subjective is just polemical bullshit.
Oh nm augusto is right and I'm dumb
I'm not hung up. I agreed with you the initial is good and does more dmg?
AA is hard capped at 5
This whole argument seems weirdly combative and I feel like you folks are talking past each other some
Tbh
If you go Necro make sure you got 2 DPS who use mastery there to simp for your banner.
I was about to ask lol
I will, and they give me cookies for doing so 🙂
Do fire mages use mastery?
Fire mage and boomy got it
I thought they didn't
They do.
But they sim great with banner
Haste and Mastery are their two highest stats.
Aight a friend lied to me lol
They were like 7% increase on the file list
Uhdks probably your 3rd favorite friend
Yeah and ret too
Fire, MM, UDK, and Boomies
Afflocks too
Unholy DKs, Ret paladin, Fire, MM, Boomies, Affliction locks
I have all those in my raid so yay
Does the % on secondary stats scale linearly with how much of the stat you have?
Ret and Aff can use it, but they're kinda dog-ass DPS anyway.
So it's unlike you're gonna use it on them.
No, there's DR.
I thought afflock was good
There are better RDPS.
Only reason I'd take an Aff is for cookies.
You're not stacking them.
Afflict gets good use of it on bosses. Trash, it really depends considering the boomie will prolly blow CDs with banner
Icy veins has fire mage stats as haste vers top prio lol
is this raid or M+
St in general
no I mean whos a good DPS
I'm talking raids.
Fire mage stats change based upon what they have and not have
Honestly I've never brought an Aff into M+ now that I think about it.
LOL, meta slave 😛
Never even paired with a lock lol.
Nah, just don't see any at a high io in my battlegroup.
Meta doesn't really kick in until like 18+ I think.
You can feel the pinch at around 15-17+
My thinking is that classes that don't prioritize mastery might still get a lot of % DPS from banner because 400 mastery gives you more % mastery if you don't have high mastery already
Mkay
They've already done full DPS roster parses on how it affects each spec.
It's floating around here somewhere.
Yeah
Bug Erga or Nom for it, I think they might have links.
its in FAQ
dmg doesn't increase but it does more damage than spear when it's hitting 5 targets
that's what I was told in this disc
sorry if already said
I've seen the sims and I know fire mage gets a lot out of banner
Oh yeah - cleave go brrr, dude.
I'm just speculating on the why
It's the first pin
Mwahi just fucking appearing.
Mastery is a good stat
Knock first dude.
Stack Crit as a warrior it's the best defensive stat.
👀
Use stam flask
Technically not wrong.
put taunt on crtl P
my fire mage is enjoying the banner
several people typing
This is why the amount of Mwahi we get is 100% relational to the amount of lines Ikari types
I'll be honest, I haven't seen as many bigbrain boffins in other class discords compared to Warrior.
Why do you lads think that is?
Not like we stack iNT
crit is better for M+ and isnt the best defensive stat for raid yeah?
Crit is stronk its just random
I’m in the rouge disc and it does seem like warriors have the most constant discussions
Yeah, a lot of other class discords I've been to seem a little more fast and loose and feelycraft, but maybe that was just because of early BFA or something.
