Kiting is more feelycraft than anything. Some people kite when they don’t have anything up, others know they can take a hit or two without mit. Like those previous said it’s all about knowing when big dam is inbound

You are supposed to use Shield Block as your primary mitigation tool. IP is there just to help smooth the damage even more.

Healers have CD's that reduce your damage taken and/or increase healing received etc.
These are refered to as "externals".
For example Iron Bark has a 1 minute CD and reduces your damage taken by 20%.
