My thoughts: Keep using crafted until i get mythic version, then max out the ilvl on the heroic piece, then 1 free upgrade on mythic piece, and use mythic.
Or i suck it up, max out the crests on the heroic now, and just shrug off that i lose early spark usage + weapon embelishment.
Or something else?

Sims has (ilvls of weapons left alone) pointing to embelishment being better dps. Heroic MH gets better when dumping heroic crests into it

Yeah, future proofing with logs is the real way to cover your bases. Honestly,

you can be fine with like any selection of talents as long as you have defensive CDs

That's the part most people aren't willing to admit, since it puts the onus back on to your play. A lot of power in every spec in the game comes from multiple talents adding up to power, not any specific choices. Yeah, there's better, but really, as long as you properly handle whatever instances of damage are coming in, you'll almost certainly be fine. It's just your margin gets a lot thinner the higher up you go.

The gaps between key levels end up being large enough to blow straight past any min-max value you can grab from specific talent choices outside of defensive CD type choices, hence why we brought up BSV

The ultimate breakpoint is that if you can't keep SB up for all the times you actively are tanking in dungeons with ITF, you run HR instead. I don't know about what rating that is this time since I won't really be able to actively play this xpac until about midway through April, but traditionally it's like 30-40% haste before buffs depending on what dungeons are around (if there's more time spent casting/using unblockable stuff, you can get away with lower)

Shield/weapon/“small” pieces like wrists belt have barely any secondary stats to begin with. Craft haste + whatever makes you happy and I can promise you it won’t make a difference. Besides as said above all stats have value. If extra peanuts worth of dps will make you happier down the line you can recraft.
