my philosophy has always been go for being tanky as possible to avoid any deaths as first priority, then start peeling back talents / trinkets to be more offensive, so absorb trinkets are good for that if not sure what the content will be doing

The idea was that you shouldnt need something like that in most situations. Kinda like new players using the extra heal talent on shield wall as a panic button. Sure there might be situations where its a good talent, but in general if youre relying on it then youre doing something wrong.

Since im very casual in my play i was just curious if its still a decent way of thinking to generally avoid purely defensive trinkets if given the chance, or if something had changed since i stopped playing in dragonflight

You can just do world content if you want. World quests, rares, treasures all work towards it. Then any red crystals on the map.

Traps are the most efficient method and theyre located at the prey world quest, with the red crystal icon. You just fly around clicking them, theyre on the minimap.
