Funnel, as in the name hints at, is the act of taking spread out pool of DPS and then funnel that value towards a single point of focus.

Aka, do damage to many mobs = doing big dam to one mob

Classic effects are:
"When you do damage with Y, do X damage to your main target"

So a spec would do more damage to the boss if they could use funnel as opposed to just doing their standard single target damage

If you bring a bunch of funnel DPS - DH, Feral, Shamans, Arcane mage - you play around that. Just drag things you can drag with to the next prio target on the list to die. Especially bosses.

If you bring a funnel DPS, you use them to to kill big prio targets in an AoE pack (like the flamethrower guys in FG)

If you ever had a run that where the prio targets die before the pack does, and you go "oh, this feels clean", that was funnel DPS doing its work

(or some madlad prio target DPS going full ST ham, a true hero)
