Your spec and gear will be largely irrelevant barring any major things (like wearing int gear or taking some homebrew spec)

For the most part focus on haste until 16-17k and then ilvl is king

At your ilvl you’ll want to take heavy repercussions instead of into the fray

The rest of it will come down to play and execution, which if you log some stuff and post that we can help. The wowhead guide in the pins has a great overview of the basics

Problem of having the DR is not relevant before you hit the push wall, where content is dangerous. At that point, you want all the DR you can get if the busters is a threat.
