wonder why they decided to put both shields from raid on the dinar menu but none of the shields from M+. Titan makes sense since it's a cantrip item but the other is just a regular drop. Would've been cool to be able to get a myth shield after doing all 12s

It is. And if you're doing stuff where you need it in your defensive rotation you should use it as such. Otherwise just send it for the damage boost.
That is my suggestion for spellbreaker, it should be a 4% chance to negate magic damage while also giving you the ability to block all spells but at 25% effectiveness
That would be a ~10-11% damage reduction on magic with crit block going up to 20%
If we still had the old honed reflexes and skybreaker was on a choice node with it, I'd still have to be like "hmm" for a second

You basically don’t need to switch stances ever but yeah, challenge yourself to never miss a gcd and keep shield block up the whole time
Yeah with battle stance being such a small difference, you either stay in defensive stance in harder content or stay in battle in easier content
Generally unless you're trying to parse really high, there's not much reason to be in battle

But now the only difference is we dont get the 3% crit from battle stance, which is hard to justify considering def stance is such a big defensive gain

it is an absolutely tiny optimization you can do to switch to battle stance for times you’re not taking major damage but in m+ that’s really rare
and something you can leave til you feel like you’ve mastered everything else

well its her auto attacks so they very predicable
when she isnt spewing shit on the ground or clearing shit then shes gunna auto
so only autos for extended periods when u ahve to move here thats what u save CDs for
dont worry, if it will be doing nice dmg, it will get tuned

That would be dumbed down design. You already keep Shield Block to make the class work. Now it's free magic mitigation? You would lose agency/management and it would just dumb down the class

On mythic Gally whats the trink to having him not chase the other tank when you taunt off the tank buster

The other tank either needs to wait to move or you need to taunt earlier/later

The main thing I essentially hate about Blizzards excuse for taking away spell block is it begs the question... since when is it a bad thing to know your class well enough to know when to use what for the given situation your faced with ? They said it was tough to know when to use spell block and when not too, but with that extremely ignorant mentality where is the reward for skillful play of the game ?
They are basically saying that skillful play of the game in terms of when to use a specific part of the prot warriors toolkit is a bad thing. Which is ignorant and outright stupid on a monumental level

Spellblock is one of those things I am kinda meh about. Sure, it was neat and required. But - if they made it just a passive add for block, or just baked in enough passive MDR to make up for it, I cant say I will miss it.

Well a good example as Jakey posted above. Spell Reflect to get its full value requires you to know what it works on and for that very purpose every season for a while now a spreadsheet is posted by Sense to give people a heads up on what spells or abilities it can reflect, deflect or reduce damage on. So based on blizzards very narrow minded point of view is spell reflect soon to be on the chopping block
Resil keys have made it v fun and easily able for me to learn prot. Just posting my own resils and being like “I’m learning, come if you wish” and then peoples undergeared ratty alts or shit mains can’t get mad at me forr sucking 
Kinda depends on what ya need. SB is up 100% of the time, but ya can have one to yell at ya. Then you want to make sure your UI show the duration of your running defencives, so you dont get caught offguard.
If you care - you can track things, but I wont blame ya if you just focus on tanking over minmaxing DPS throughoutput. The important bits dont really need to be tracked.
Guess spell reflect WA is neat, if ya dont have eyes

I don't know I am not dooming or anything. Far from it to be specific, but I have always been of the mentality that the more you know about your class the better off you are. Simply put knowing how to best use your toolkit in as many situations as possible is a great thing. So blizzard coming out and saying that people in WoW having to put in a little work or effort to know when exactly to use spell block as a part of the prot warriors toolkit goes counter to what I believe.
Didn't they say they wanted less APM for warriors so there's more time to think about what defensives to use, when they played around with MT?
(I mean I know they eventually said "ow my fingers" as the reason but)
Something along those lines yes, but who can keep up with as quickly as they change there mindset
it's a shame, like learning to play the piano takes time and effort and can be fun, but blizzard decides to dumb it down to just play the keyboard, press a button and the tune will come out fine
If you want to actually lower APM, you either got to create dead GCDs, increase GCD or remove OGCD.
So either increase the effect of other stats, making us as an example Master/Crit heavy. Example would be having Mastery also working against magic damage. Making it more valuable. Then having crit being critical to have the engine turning above haste. How? Dunno, but haste gotta die, for it to be an effect. Be it talents removed/devalued or raw stats.
They could simply increase the GCD from 1.5 to 2, but that would just push the problem to a later date and later in the patch cycles.
If they make it so every GCD isnt really important, we still going to fill them, as doing anything is better than doing nothing. Dead GCD is something most players despise. The only way to make them partly work is by having them work with channels. Having something happen while it does its thing.
Finally, removing the off-gcd casts is usually very unpopular. As these are already few and far between. Those that aint on GCD would (and does, they did test it) feel aweful on GCD. Forcing GCD locks feels clunky and is by most percieved as unfun.
There is no winning here for Blizzards goal of fixing the GCD issue. Because the 'fast/fluid' gameplay is what we want.
You aren’t wrong feeling this way especially them going the route of “easier rotation” with the assistants instead of just making the game easier or putting in things built into the game to teach better instead of just removing stuff and putting bandaids on
Honestly the most logical reason I can come up with for the removal of spell block for prot warriors is the blizzard devs are just lazy, and with the coming 11.2 content patch they could not be bothered to tune spell block to work with certain abilities within that season so rather than putting in the work to adequately tune the game and abilities to work with spell block in season 3 they determined removing it would be easier. Which would also explain the literal laughing stock of a replacement for it they tossed at us in the ptr patch notes.

spell block was already an optional spell, just do one of those talens where you either pick spellblock, or somekind of passive magic dmg mitigate, you'll know best when to use either

Honestly I just hate there whole mentality of why they "said" there removing it. Learning to use this ability is difficult so instead of telling people that they will are going to make it easier to use they feel just removing it is better
in order for them to walk it back they would need to admit that the issue wasn't actually the esoteric knowledge required but the power of the spell itself (which i highly suspect is the actual reason)

when i played original 2004 wow, i was dwarf paladin, so i never had to worry about any type of debuff at all

Does the new class tree really solve the issue of being locked into a specific set of talents for us? It didn't seem to for me.
not rly as it is now, its going to pretty much be the same. One dominant path with like 1 or 2 optionals
maybe needed to have 4 or 5 builds if your doing m+ keys so you can tweak your MDR
but i would nt rly call that diversity
last stand being optional is best thing ever happened
idk man, it still feels mandatory for keys, the number of times last stand has saved my ass when i had a crap healer is to damn high
Hey, so I got a third cartel chip this week and I can either recraft my weapon to 681 ORRRR I can get hero track best-in-slots -- which one do you think is better? I know its good to sim it, but since I dont actually have any of the pieces of equipment, idk if its possible
And actually as a follow-up, how much do we even care about having best-in-slots

9/10 the higher iL is always better
well best in slots is a 2 hander so we dont care at all

technically the mug zee fist is bis for pure single target but it does not outweight ilvl
yea our wep iL= dmg = threat gen
for m+ any 684 ilvl 1 hander will be bis
Shield iL = higher block value = less death
cries in no haste
so its almost always better to take the iL boost over any stats on it
more or less, yeah
more primary stat is always the goal
you can get like 50% haste on war with just rings, neck and general haste on armor
you dont need it on the wep
its nice, but not needed
yeah i know, i just prefer having the desired stat on the items so i can dabble around with recrafts and gems instead. easier life
