Yea I usually pop large defs there on parts where she is auto attacking, or dump tons of rage into ignore pain, still hurts tho, it is annoying boss
It's all spell damage so shield block is only useful for the extra SS damage
use spell block and spell reflect and defensives
boss just hurts

but obv in a 12 that woulda been a brick
If you add the sleeping crusher to pull 8, you can ignore the double crushers in pull12
But depends what your healer wants, some might prefer double crushers with the big dude, some might prefer triple +diffuser
Could kill one crusher, then pull the second. by the time that packs done, that other crusher should be half way, if not a quarter till dead and could lead that into pull 9 as well
Those arcing blasts are a pain in the ass with the other casts though. Especially if no interrupts go out for the oracles

personally i rock something akin to this but i know there are quite a few ravager enjoyers in this discord and its certainly not bad the ability slaps and rage gen is very nice (youll hear conflicting opinions in regards to thunderlords as well and you can either take it or leave it its not super make or break ive personally just been experimenting with it)

grabbing bloodsurge, but not taking ravager, is certainly a decision
Since if you're taking bloodsurge, you're specifically saying "I plan on spending most of my time in very large pulls", where Ravager shines very high, since it gives you the initial burst rage to stabilize at the start of a pull.
so that tree is just flawed on what you even want to do on that end
(For the record, Instigate is more rage on 4 or less targets, and is generally equal on 5 targets for rage gen)
(So bloodsurge is only better on 6+ targets)

So I don't talent Rallying Cry. I don't find it worth it, pushing these higher keys it feels like little to no benefit (if it were 20% I would likely talent it), and there seem to be far better options in my opinion. its also great in pugs too. You can't trust pugs to get every kick and cc, so it's better to have it, use it and get some value, then not take it and wipe and kill the key
Rally cry is just mid nowdays. I bet if you look through your logs, you'll find very few times where rallying cry actually saved someones life

This; rally generally won't enable much, since it's not a big enough EHRP increase for most thresholds people are dying on, but it's generally better than anything else you could grab with those points
He also runs with people in his guild and shot-calls, as well, so it runs into "rally has literally zero use to us"
since pain and gain also is not a very big survival increase
Intimidating shout would also be a good alternative, more aoe stops is always good
Your realistic choices for that point with his tree are Pain and Gain (very small survival benefit), Rally (as stated above, likely useless for his group), Intervene (generally useless), Bounding Stride (no real practical value outside of last boss of Rookery if you don't know how to hold A/D), Int Shout (likely useless for his group and low general value due to hardstops not being as good and being target capped), and... second wind, I guess
the last of which being like pain and gain, except you have to be dying to benefit from it

It would be more useful if it wasn't target capped, being one of the very few aoe stops in the game that is target capped, and if hard stops didn't generally just make the mob instantly recast whatever they were casting

Both of those together make Int Shout a fairly weak option, but it can be useful if you need more stops for things that have to be hard stopped

It's possible that it's pulling the mobs onto ranged players as they chase down the earth ele, since the threshold for ripping aggro is different if you're standing in melee compared to range iirc
So the range players may have had enough aggro to rip if they were in melee, but not while at range
earth ele taunt is like pala bubble taunt right
so its a constant permataunt in a range
My guess was that ele is chasing some mob, 1 mob goes out of its taunt range and for some reason my aggro drops
this happened to me last night

you can send roar on pull and it should be up by the next set of adds spawning so long as they got down fast enough
yea they dont need to be picked up in teh sense that they wont hurt anyone
but they do move to their main target and itll make it easier to cleave if you get agro on them fast

can i get rid of instigate? I'm trying to see how much its actually responsible for over the course if a quick fight/boss/etc., but details "rage generated" doesnt work seemingly ever, so I can't really gauge it
Because Tanks can't hang with DPS. Even early on when the gear sucks. So they nerf us. Then when when everyone has gear, We can be way below DPS numbers only to catch up before the next expanion releases. .
But if youre lookin for big numbers, always be pulling large packs of mobs. 🙂

What are you looking to learn? Which buttons to push? Or which runs/pulls work well as prot?
If it's which buttons to push I would say to watch Sense (Sense Nurfed), if for prot routes I quite like Topicx's videos, he produces a lot of them and I think mostly pugs so the routes should work for most groups.
Obviously the sense whole dungeons videos are excellent too, but, there's not so many of them and they're all run on voice comms etc, so may not be quite as transferrable to your average pug

If you're looking for an overview of the spec, there's not really too many good videos like that. Most of the up-to-date and accurate guides for Prot War are only text guides, specifically the ones on Wowhead and Icy Veins

You should never sit on a GCD at all as Prot War
Yeah, group survival is the limiting factor for pulls since DF on average
You could pull like 4 packs with two knights into first mini boss in priory
but then the group explodes
and then you die from things living too long/lack of support/etc
If you want to make the 1st pull a bit safer, you can skip a shooter pack.
Go - Footmen, Knightpack, sniper pack, priest pack, miniboss
Less random shots and traps, but an interupt that must be done.
I just do double sniper tho instead, seems to work out fine

i failed the parasol the other day 😭 turns out if you try to heroic leap and get no path available, it closes your parasol for a sec and just drops you straight down
I've still not tried it, my rookery 14 last night got bricked with boss at 8%, 40m left on the shield, and 2 mins to go because the Ret stood in the bad and died meaning an add got summoned on the opposite side from me 😦

Hey, just wanna ask for friend how to get as much uptime on shield block as possible, I am seeing these tanks in high keys get around 90% and up while my friend is around 70% and seems to struggle push it higher
his haste is too low, he doesn't use shield charge on cd, doesn't have 4 set?

Okey so I have a question regarding Heroic Throw, does it only aggro the target you throw it at or does it aggro mobs around the targeted mob aswell?

threat is generates based on dmg done
if you pull chewie with heroic throw and it socials the boss, it means chewie was too close to the boss OR someone else in the group procced something which procs off of mobs in combat with you which does aoe dmg

taunt itself doesnt generate threat, it only fixates the target onto you until the debuff runs out

Not directly related, but worth knowing (since the game doesnt tell you anymore) Taunt also gives a ~5x threat generated multiplier during the debuff, so it can be useful to Taunt something already on you before unloading on it early on to secure threat for the rest of the fight
they should reintroduce the 1% chance to miss a taunt like in classic

The only time that can happen is if there's taunt DR
Taunts can DR just like any other kind of CC or mob controlling effect
It can seem like it's happening with some casts, as well, where they won't change targets after a taunt until the cast is finished
if the taunt is a tank buster or something, you'd need to taunt before or else the other tank will get hit for more than you intended them to take

It 100% gives you permenant threat. You can taunt after not hitting for 10 minutes do some attacks and have full threat.

Yea that's definitely wrong, but there was a blue post a while back regarding Threat that explained it put you at a percentage higher than the next tank. Mentioned nothing about losing it all after.

The whole point of the post at the time was referring to the fact that it put you at X above highest current threat, but you'd lose thread if Y person kept gaining threat above that mark and you didn't not that you just suddenly lost the threat you were given.

As far as i understand it yes. Taunt "sets" you to highes threat plus a small percentage.

When I was in 7s-8s I would always target plater groups, get an invite, check if they had Hero gear, and if yes, ask them for loot spec. Got me across. For ex. I had S1 chest/helm for like 3 weeks in S2

well brew gets some tankiness added but the dmg buffs they gave it are an absolute joke. No shot BDK changes hero trees. They made no prot pal changes even though it has large windows of feeling squishy. I think prot warr in a good place then compared to the rest.

Your talent build isn't what's making you feel squishy, I guarantee it.
Playing it wrong. Make sure you always have shield block up, don’t get hit in the back by mobs. Learn to use defensive cds before big hits/tank busters, spell reflect spells.

Pretty good trinket, especially on bosses. Will account for 3-5% of your dmg depending on the dungeon and given you always keep it in dmg mode. One of the best trinkets out there.

Is it normal for our healing parses in raid to be ass? Like we mitigate so much dmg and use defensives on tank busters. I found the only way I had good healing parses was last raid when we went thane and spammed ignore pain.
