The way nom tracks execute was the hardest for me to get used to. But then I realized if I’m using execute correctly it’s actually a good thing

Gaps or not it all feels too cramped... I mean how you know if you have offensive/defensive/utility cds up? You literally have to know where to look, you change 1 talent and everything moves... That's why I'd rather have some stuff separated like core rotation above the bars, def cds first row, utility/off cds 2nd row

Discerning CDs out of a big group takes more time to process for your brain

Hi all, new on tanking on M+ How you understand what and when send def. CD like SW or SpellBlock in mob pack?
SW on cooldown (unless you need it for an upcoming tankbuster you know about)
You wanna just maximise usage of your defensives as much as possible
I use it pre pull, but sometimes i feel in danger at mid pull with healt that drop istantly... and i don't und why..
and simply don't use them if you need it for something
well that depends on the pack
So i send spell block in large caster mob only?
There's a spreadsheet in the pins that lists all mobs and whether their attacks are reflectable or blockable
There is a LOT of spell blockable trash packs
so unless you're on the pack before a boss where you want it (like 2nd boss in dawnbreaker) I'd just send it on the bigger/scarier packs
if you're new, simply using the CDs will put you ahead of the curve
most people don't even use their defensives more than a few times in a key lmao
just don't overlap your SW and SB

If you're only doing 10s and lower you don't even need to think about it much. As you get familiar with the packs and bosses you'll learn when you have to hold stuff

I was used to playing with HR until now and just switched to fray, HR feels so much smoother. Am I supposed to be at 100% uptime with that much haste ?

selecting power type: pain under triggers doesn't seem to work, I guess that's something else
What I did was just browse through other, complete (like the whole prot spec) weakauras and just cherry pick the one for Ignore Pain. Easier than trying to figure it out myself

On the last boss of Ara-kara, how do you guys aggro/pull the Black Blood adds toward the boss that spawn after the root? I feel like I always run out of time between when they spawn and when the swirles/poison spells are cast so it's a cluster fuck?

what build do yall recommend for rash prog? been progging first 3 as colossus but see a lot of mountain thane + execute talents on rash
If you're progging, try both and see which you like best
That’s the point of prog, like me (i dps fury in raid) on silken court like I see people playing slayer or thane hero talent, well I try both few pulls,
But at some point you should stop trying/ change things when you understand you are in kill boss time

Prot warr Spell reflect will reflect the Ambassador Flamelash's tank buster, "Cremate" back onto himself, raid has to clear away from him when he channels it to avoid the circle, just as if the grp was "Soaking on tank" makes it a stupid easy solo tank raid fight DEFINITELY not meant to be this way, but 100% solid cheese

633 Fury main. Tried 2 keys as prot this season. First was a 2 mists I topped dps in, 2nd was a 7 CoT we +2d. I was doing pulls that the tanks do in 10s. Holy fuck i have no idea what I was doing. It was fun as fuck though. At the end of the dungeon I realized I literally did not press last stand once.
Nop, the macro is to bind a shield slam cast into the ignore pain, it replaces zero keybinds
Ignore Pain is off your GCD, so you can hit it directly after a SS
And since almost every gcd you use ignore pain, you chase the reset of shield slam of the precedent spell
well not for GCD but for rage. like if i only have rage for one

Depends on your packs/route, if you NEED your second lust at a specific timing that can’t be done if you don’t lust the first, just lust even if you just do two separate packs

Because you can separate pulls different ways, do two equals, or bigger/small
Or small/bigger but you don’t want to hold cds
You can chain pull when this target dies too
i do if i can guarantee the two attendants in melee (with dk or knocks), but i take a small pitstop by the bridge to group and get aggro on everything
That’s what I do, I just take the caster after the bridge and I stop
And when he dies I just go on miniboss
I don’t think with current average ilvl you are pressured by the timer in 13s

I'll only do miniboss first pull if I got hard CC for the patrol, those casters are so hard to get into melee without grips in pugs. Then assing kick for miniboss fear and the other caster close by. You can then pull the CCd caster with 2 next spideys.

You are correct though until last boss usually kind of smooth run with some good time left then the nightmare begins 
The last caster being grabbed is not the biggest issue in higher keys, it is having to deal with a 3 spam casters pull in a pug, at high enough key lvl, they don’t die in the period you don’t care about correctly kicking them (period where you can waste kicks/no AoE stop coordination)
Kick 3 targets require insane coordination
I think they just sap one in top keys
They need 2 kicks each to move them at all before you can even hit them with aoe CC. Thats my biggest issue so far in pugs till +13s. With rogue or DK it's easy but don't have those in every grp.
Like you said, you enter the platform, you need to coordinate 3 kicks (3/4 of your kicks if you have disc priest) or someone will die

Somehow I always end up getting the two mini-bosses at the end of City of Threads at the same time and it's always a big mess. I kick the first one as soon as it starts casting to pull it back, but it never gets far enough and the other one always ends up getting pulled. Can you LoS it, or do you just need more people in your group helping kick it while you keep pulling it back?
Has anyone had a random caster add get pulled on the first pull of dawnbreaker? it looks like it comes from the entrance of the dungeon lol
I pull the big one first in the little room next to it, on its right we all stand there without pulling the other one
if you have a kick order and people stay stacked, it works rather well in my experience
its the usual coordination struggle with pugs though
Does anyone have any tips for the add pull after the second boss of GB? Pushing that at higher keys and those engragers hit like a fucking truck, and they enrage so often it's hard to get dps to keep tranqing them. What seems to be working for you guys? Especially if you have no dps that can tranq?

You can fully tranq them ? I only tried on my alt hunt the first week of m+ and saw it dispelled only 1 stack so it was never something I counted on

if you craft a 636 ring then recraft it, it counts as having two unique rings

but the steps are 1) craft 636 ring 2) recraft 636 ring with ideal missive
and since youll have 'two' 636 rings, you can upgrade your myth track one to 636 for just valorstones
so you craft the first ring without a missive of does it not matter?

then recraft with the missive
you cant recraft the same ring, there has to be a change to it as far as I understand

You can sim it, the ring recraft trick is very lucrative however as it allows you to upgrade both rings to 636 for the cost of only 1 crest spending

but yea, if you can upgrade a second myth ring for essentially free with the ring craft, good reason to do so

but if you have a myth track ring at like 623, and you do the double craft of a crafted ring to 636, you can freely pump that 623 to 636
which is +60 gilded crest value
or you can make a hero track ring 626 for free

Hey all I'm new to prot. Is it normal NOT to have 100% uptime on IP? like when i'm playing I feel guilty not having it up all the time but sometimes i just can't. am i doing something wrong?

Ignore Pain is used to dump excessive Rage since it's off the global cooldown and feeds into Indom / Outburst / AM.
If you play the rotation properly you will have a lot of extra Rage which you will send into IP.
The Uptime of IP doesn't really matter much.

If the damage is not blockable, you turn to Shield Wall .
You should still “care” about ip in the sense that it prevents you from overcapping rage

Counter-intuitively, scrambling to maintain IP like that actually ends up with less IP overall, since you'll stall your rotation due to being unable to restart it with Revenge from lacking rage, so you actually end up squishier
And usually, the passive healing healers do will keep you high enough for it to not really make much difference, but neither node is particularly strong. You could literally pick whichever icon you find cooler and find zero realistic difference
Also, to add on what Mwahi noted, Last Stand does have a healing component to it, so you can use it to help shave off heal absorbs. Bonus points for that then making Impending Victory do more healing, as well

I just did some napkin research. Looked at top 10 score logs in warcraftlogs for +15 Ara'kara, both for prot war and prot paladin. Average damage for paladin was 12.6 mil dps and for warrior it was 9 mil dps. In other words pre-nerf paladin was about 40% ahead of prot war in damage.
So the paladin damage nerf would need to be very substantial to move paladin away from the top I would say

Hey, I’m an old timer warrior main just getting back into tanking. How come our bis trinkets are more dps focused vs the trinkets of other tank classes?
We’re the tankiest of them all and apart from the trinket from Court there’s no good tank trinkets
usually tank trinkets aren't needed for 99% of players because you only really "need" the trinkets when you cant survive without them. Which only really happens at the highest m+ keys or early in mythic prog
because if you just play the spec well then you will survive without needing the crutch of a tank trinket when doing "normal content"
meaning its better to use dps trinkets because you wanna do more damage
Thanks! That makes sense to me now. One of our DK tanks bailed last night so I had to fill tank in heroic Nerub. One of the tank trinkets dropped and I got chastised a bit for not rolling when I already have Ara Kara and Ovi.

I didn’t notice my health being an issue while wearing mostly that stuff with my trinkets, rings, and weapons swapped. As long as I keep spamming SB and IP nothing seemed to bother me much.

Now I am in the progress of collecting some crest so... am I crazy if I upgrade the ring first or just go with the armor piece since armor piece ilvl increase means more str+armor+stamina instead of stamina and 2nd stat if ring.

Survival hunter feels solid with both trees in high level keys, it’s very nice
Sentinel shines a little more on dungeons with less movement and higher boss count, pack leader rips through packs and goes crazy into chain pulls

That's not a matter of "Who they buff the most." Typically a matter of "Whose CDs line up well, and do those classes cover for the weaknesses of having an Aug in the group"
Quazii just did an interview with Lizziemaguire and they spoke about CW vs scale commander. CW gameplay requires coordination with your dps and your cooldowns to line up. It is a more selfless hero talent. Scale commander doesn't require you to line up your CDs together with your dps and let's breath of aeons rip on cooldown regardless of who it lines up with. For pugs, it's always scale commander

Looking at my logs for M+, alot of the damage I take is melee and physical aiblities. Aside from Riposte, I'm trying to understand how parry works in WoW (if I parry). What I'm thinking about:
If I parry, the cooldown to my next melee switch is reduced, down to a maximum of 20%(changed)- If I parry a mob, what happens with their attack table? With abilities, it negates the ability. However, I was also told that their melee attack is reset and they attack again immediately; is this true?

- parry of a melee simply cancels the attack, and the mob has to wait the normal melee time for it's next attack in table.
At any rate, for your damage, that's expected. The great majority of damage taken in M+ and in general comes from melee
Even with block and all out mit, melees are generally like 60% of your overall damage intake or something
