Yes, but Avatar isn't up nearly as much as you'd need it to be to be able to clear everything.

And Brann doesn't dispel the dot that much, and even with 2 interrupts you can't keep that dot away from you at times.

Especially not when he casts it from far away whilst you deal with an ad, then you just have to tank it or if you're lucky, you've got that golden shield on you and don't have to care ;p

Technically yes but for prot functionally no. You pretty much just want to jam as much haste as possible. Outside of that you can just sim top gear which will handle breakpoints etc for you

There aren’t really hard breakpoints any more, no — haste is basically best defensively always this season, and offensively you just sim for. There’s a sorta-breakpoint at around 35% haste when it becomes mostly safe to switch from heavy rep to Into The Fray and still have good shield block uptime

Fury feels like it wants x amount of haste then mastery/vers stack, whereas prot was haste and then a balance of the other 3, so you do lose out a bit, I'd suggest working on a set of rings for your alt spec, it's generally enough to get your stats to where you need em

On average, all secondary stats are close enough for prot that you can rock your DPS best stats easy with no fuss

Especially since stats can cause a bit more of a fluctuation on DPS than tanks

Recently I have been put into tank jail from dps war for my push group. Up until now I have only been a casual prot player (weekly 10s to the occasional higher keys like 25 WC and 24 EB in s3 DF) so I have been running 11s to get the hang of the routes as well as to see what hurts me. I have been browsing logs and vods to find some routing and grouping tips, but I have a question. What is the purpose of running colossus in CoT? The only thing I can think of is that it lets you run Immovable object for more wall uptime. But outside of that I cant think of anything else. I ran two 11 CoT keys, one as thane and one as colossus. The main differences I found and more over the things that have me questioning the colossus choice are as follows: Colossus did 200k less dps than Thane, Thane had more tools for and an easier time gaining threat, and Thane felt tankier and required only 20% of the healers hps compared to Colossus at 25%. What am I missing here and why are people playing colossus

Colossus does more damage; if you're doing less damage with it, you're not playing Colossus properly, since it is harder to play well than Thane. It is less tanky and more punishing. People play it because it's fun, does more damage, and is a change of pace from Thane. If you don't need the survival from Thane, Colossus is fine to play.

You could also just charge in with shield wall up if you don't need it anytime in the next minute. Depends a bit on your routing, but we get it back fast enough that it is a possibility. The initial pull is pretty much the point where you're most vulnerable.

Problem now especially is, you can boost a fully afk player in a 10 easily

So there's loads of just hard carried people with full 10s on their score, that are completely worthless

Well it was always like that, that people got boosted. I have a friend that is good enough for 10-11’s but he takes way more time to get used to the dungeons and sending CD’s so he is not gonna perform great there just yet. But I don’t take him to 12 and higher because I know he will be dragging the group down. So I believe the real cutoff now is 12’s and not 10’s

Well, when we have tries with „good” tanks, other people weren’t focused I guess. But we had problems where protpal couldn’t hold his aggro (before buffs) and had a weakaura telling him to taunt at wrong times. Generally taunt being the problem which is just sad
