Shield is the single biggest defensive upgrade for prot war, as it's the only source of block value, our primary form of mitigation

Weapon just makes you do more damage; that being said, if it's possible for you to get a myth track shield, eg hitting first boss of Mythic raid, you might benefit from holding off on crafting a shield and getting that wep instead.

their melee aoe healing is just party-wide maintenance, but they get a ton of benefit from keeping HoTs and heal amps rolling on you for eventual spikes

for now I am backpeddlign to the second group, which gives me time for a few thunderblasts until I am close enough to charge into 2nd grp.
then i slowly round the 2nd grp, so when first grp arrives they are also in front of me

Or you can have all melee run to mini boss on mount as you're gathering to avoid tricky aggro issues, then you just mount gather > Interrupt first caster > leap 2nd group, throw at 3rd group, grab the next pack and charge in to mini boss

you can lessen the healer burden a bit by impending victory that is 20% heal and the rest healer deal with it.

Well so far we got

1. Ball Spawns that need to be interupted or cced.
2. Ball Spawns that team need to catch it all.
3. Kill 1 shielded mob
4. Heal/dispell the affix

at least 1-3 everyone can do it. number 4 aka this time there is only so much Dps can self heal to lessen the healer's burden.

sidestep, kite sideways in circles

some packs have 'frontal' guys, so then you have to slowly step backwards. Ideally you stand still until you need to move once mobs are grouped up

Ideally you dispel it and it and not heal, shamans have poison totem which can mass dispel it, disc priests with mass dispel as well

If you don’t have those, hopefully DPS talent their dispel abilities and help healer

get a shield block weak aura bar and an ignore pain weak aura bar and make sure they’re both always up/full

You can shield charge and get shield block for like 7 seconds and then use the 40 rage you get to use ignore pain

yes but I mean sometimes you can't really picky about healer, what if there is no healers apply for 15 minutes then Resto druid appear? You probably will just take it and run rather than wait another 15 minutes maybe more?
