The guide lays it out a lot better lol. What helps the flow is that shield block and IP are off the gcd, so you can be hitting shield slam, thunderclap and revenge if needed while still using those in-between.

Once you get the hang of it, it's super smooth and you get to blast your cooldowns a lot.

The basic flow is slam all your offensive CDs, then Shield Slam > Thunder Clap > Revenge for every GCD, Ignore Pain if rage gets high

You just press fast and often, especially since IP is off the GCD

Most of your shield block talents are near the end of the tree

The spec doesn't fully function properly until like, level 65, and doesn't fully work right until cap

You can get 100% uptime, but it requires at least 3 block uptime talents

Usually those are Enduring Defenses, Heavy Repercussions, and Champion's Bulwark (? It's the shield charge talent that makes it give shield block). Bolster is usually skipped, but while levelling, it miiiiight be worth to pick up?

Funny enough, until later in TWW, it'll likely be harder next xpac since people's will to run the instance will drop, and you won't be able to solo it for a hot minute. If you don't have the skip, you should at least try and see if you can get that,

since it'd make your life easier down the road

You'd still need a healer of some kind to deal with Fyrakk mechs (healing the ghosts), but you can just skip straight to Smold

every tankspec can tank mythic, and for most fights there is no such thing like "maintank" and "offtank", both tanks have to tank the boss and do their job

there are some specific situations, like Tindral, where one tank can just tank boss and 2nd is here only to help with shrooms

play whatever you like, its not classic where you can blame your spec or gear, if you play good - you'll be fine with any spec

The only reason why BDK is a solid raid tank choice is because they bring unique utility with grips/gorefiends

They just had their funny niche of being able to solo tank some stacking dot fights hit with the death strike changes, and even though that was very niche, it's something

hard to say for TWW, as they got big changes, but they are still way better for grips than DK's dps specs

But tanks as a whole are usually the roles in raid taken to fill in whatever utility that the raid still needs to fill after flapping in as many overperformers and getting raid buffs covered

since they ultimately just need to not die and keep aggro from each other, which is handled by not being dogwater at the game

So if you want the super strongest leet tank who rules them all, come back about a month after xpac drops and ask again once all tuning has shaken out and people settle on what's meta

Tanks on average shouldn't even need to be looked at by a healer outside of specific mechanics

If you're getting healer attention at all outside of that, you've just straight fucked up in playing

You generally won't outheal healers in raid, because of just all the damage events that go out that healers need to heal, but any tank, even Prot War, should outheal healers in most M+ key levels if everyone is playing well as most damage is avoidable (less the case in TWW if Blizz has their way, but we'll see)

It also helps to know how tanks self-sustain and maintain themselves differ between each spec. The two probably most opposites are Prot War and BDK, where Prot War simply doesn't take the damage in the first place, while BDK takes a lot of damage but heals it back by pressing Death Strike and boop, HP bar is back

All this being said, if literally zero tuning was made from now and forever more, my recommendation would be "Not Prot Paladin" because public opinion is trending towards "spec literally dead, can't even tank world mobs" as its end destination, so finding groups, even if you can do the content at the levels you wan, would be more difficult.

but tuning can just change anything at any point, and tank balance has been solid design wise, so you can't go wrong just playing whatever tank you like

The only races that provide any real, meaningful benefit are Night Elves and Dorfs (not Earthen), but even then, those are minor things that don't influence much

They won't suddenly enable you to do a key level higher or anything

So after that, it comes a lot down to mobility through the instance just to make it faster or things to help with healing check sorts of things
