heroic just tank him in the middle the entire time so your healers dont goto sleep!
why would devistator have an almost 20% higher crit chance? just rng?
davastator?
yer
in what scenario
i mean
both are 105 casts
yes but why is the devistator almost double the crit, does it scale differently?
so more hits, it'll be closer to your crit chance
devAstator
no
it does not scale differently
youre just using it all the time
it is
just rng
wdym what am i yapping out
how many devastator hits do you think we have compared to literally any source of damage ?
higher amount of it happening, the closer it'll be to your average crit chance as displayed in details
crit chance
hi i bought gholak, fyrakk trinket and seal of diurna from bullions
should i buy the shield tomorrow?
every single tuesday im so confused when EU people say tomorrow
NA gamers reset already happened
buy dreadplates, do gnarlroot myth next week
either way
youll have 3 buy weeks
dreadplates, anvil/all totem, filial duty
what did you buy with your other bullion anyway
you listed 3 buys
oh wait, bullion 8 is 4 buys
goddamn EU resets trolling me again
I guess dreadplates are a better trinket for M+ (instead of anvil?)
I already have ragehearth, what do you suggest for mostly m+ player?
not rageheart
Okay so i need dreadplates, anvil, all totem and treemouth. When do i change these trinkets? Tyran/Fort?
I just started tanking, have 2.2k rio and mostly doing +6/8. I want to try getting 3k rio
I would just play All-Totem and Dreadplate personally
same
Treemouth is entirely unnecessary
treemouth and dreadplates are both defensive trinkets - treemouth is pretty overkill
you dont need 2x defensive ones
so go with dreadplates that also does damage + damage trink
Thanks guys, i will start with the dreadplates tommorow
augury strong
augury strong with bad skill use
how is that
read what choco posted
post the log as well
when a trinket does that much damage, youre just not using your skills effectively
I don't think so
post the log then
I think u just like to contradict
augury does good damage on details
but no mainstat means it “steals” damage from your abilities
5% crit is nothing to u
main stat > crit
compare this with his details pic
Isn’t it something like 6-7% overall with augury is actually more like 3-4%
sub 15 CPM on ss
Because no mainstat
how do you see that?
What should it be?
over 15
how low could his CPM be that his augury is the same amount as his SS damage
compared to your log, which still can improve
I ahve the IP macro mashing that basically on CD, any other suggestions?
yup
well youre missing some resets
its close
so i wouldnt stress over it
might have been bad rng on resets
wasted rage is good, not sure what else i should be trying to maximize
yeah wasted rage is okay
2 rage bars full of it for an entire run is actually decent
76% blocked hits though
yeah 😦
thats rough, lots of back hits?
bad at keeping SB up lol
and when I said im not doing that first pull they left lol
he wanted me to do the entire thing
That first pull is insane without DH
I always split that
its doable for us
I’ve done it with DH minus the 4 by the engi orb
but...
even with a DH that pull is stupid in a pug
you need the party to manage stops
even with dh you dont pull that
that is fucking absurd
you also dont do all of pull 3
thats stupid as fuck
also pull 2 is stupid as fuck as well bc you have no cds from using them on pull 1
thats a VDH route
without understanding it
first pull is nasty
yeah lol
i mean healers can make routes
just not pug healers and without explanation for his pulls
the most input I want from a healer is 'theres too much damage in that pull... I cant handle it'
they aint stopping anything
cmon now, dont generalize
as vdh no shot you live pull 1
you literally just die
I read it wrong at first
Heavy repercussions better for raid?
I thought he linked the route that Nim put up
theres like 4 ravagers in that pack, too many melees happening you cant parry everything
cause pull 1 and 2 together is actually the dumbest idea ever
I never thought someone would have actually linked such a pull
even if you could live it as tank
your team dies bc theres like 5 ballsv
?
oh only 4, ez winnable
people dont do that
they do bigger first pull than the one you do in high keys yes
but it's not this way
https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/42QfbaFW6rPL8vRV#fight=4&type=summary log for a key i did last night, anything obvious i can improve on other than more shield slams?
You're sending a lot of outbursts on TC instead of SS; I haven't checked how big you're consistently pulling, but unless you're always pulling real bungo big, you should be sending more outbursts on SS over TC
did they patch the skip of the last pack before the third boss in HOI?
we just tried it and the pack pulled
mind smoothe works on them and you jump on the ledge to the right
or tank death skip
even if you are, almost every single pack has a prio enemy to outburst ss
yeah but parsing, choco
people just fuck it up constantly
we used to be able to jump over the rocks without mind soothe
shut up with this logic thing of "prio target" and "dps go down if you sit there awkwardly in ST"
some guy in my last hoi messed it up insta released and messed it up again
that was funny as fuck
this time we tried twice and couldnt jump over without MS
neltharus i tend to do pretty big pulls (and more tc as a result) but ill keep that in mind, is there a good way to track outburst?
Nome should have an outburst tracker as part of is WA collection on Wago
It shows up as a bar that progresses and shows you how close you are to an outburst. It also turns green once you have one banked.
👍 awesome ty
was looking for one as well, ty
was it a ret pally? that fucking shit happened to us as well a few weeks ago
nah i think it was a priest ironically
lmaooo
someone else died on the first time
so he mightve been terrorized and was too close to whoeevr pulled
I got sockets even on my character that's only 46x smh
(it would be genuinely impressive to not get an upgrade on egirlchoco)

I was lazy this week only 3* vault slots idr if I even did 1 key
understandable
oh, chip got one last week
(:
so i guess im perma'd prot for vaults now
since theres absolutely nothing i need for dps if i buy OCE this week
Currently I'm siting at 4151 haste rating, with this weeks bullion, better to pick up seal of duty for more haste or augury? Thinking seal so I can get closer to the 5400?
Seal
make sure youre playing heavy repercussions, and followw choco's and brew's advice
ya I am atm
I would switch over to ITF once I am around 5400 right?
cuz I can craft a couple pieces that would put me close to it
no lol it would actually be a ilvl upgrade for the spot
should go for it then
i recommend around 6k, 5.4k feels too low for my personal experience
better to be safe
i think my war has 7130
Isn't there a toy that can be used in keys that extends combat in emergencies?
Could've sworn one was mentioned a while back but I can't find it.
worn doll
Ah that's the one, thanks!
anyone know off the top of their head the proc rate of Seal of Fillial Duty?
always used 🙂
its on wowhead
https://www.wowhead.com/spell=394455/broodkeepers-barrier read item effect
Dealing Fire damage has a chance to invigorate you, absorbing 7817 damage for 6 seconds. In the Item Effects category. A spell from World of Warcraft: Dragonflight.
dang
Why are so many augvokers bad?
I'm trying to get my head around it, but a lot of them seem adamant that their contribution is far outpaced by what details and WCL both say when I pull up a run.
because its hard to prove youre a good aug
I mean like - numbers. This dude that just bricked my 14 was absolutely certain that his dogshit overall is being misrepresented.
And both details and WCL show him under me.
Said he contributed 570M when he didn't even do 450M between everything.
Which is like ???
Is there something not being logged I'm missing, or?
Logs have notoriously been miscalculated since Aug has come out but probably not too far off at this point I would assume. I usually just look at their uptimes. Not going to necessarily indicate if their CD uses were timed well but it at least tells if they were rotationally playing correctly. But I also just avoid augs in general when possible because I can count on one hand the amount of good augs I've ran into pugging since they launched.
They're never going to do a lot of damage in a pug though. Not enough coordination in pugs and need good 2min burst windows from the group.
I don't think it's as innacurate as you imagine.
whats his ebon uptime?
thats the #1 thing you look at
then defensive / stop use
damage from logs doesnt fucking matter
since combat log hooks are STILL broken
70%
thats fine
So why is he doing piss compared to other augs
maybe hes not using Eons with cds
again
log damage contribution means nothing
cause combat log hooks are still broken since s2 "fixes"
details breakdown means even less
Well, I'm already halfway through the same key and I just pitched the aug for another dps
And our time is like 3m ahead
take shield or 2 sockets?
wasnt sure cause stats on it
the stats doesnt matter
ilvl on shields is king (bigger ilvl = more block which you cant get on other items)
See my confusion is that aug is performing well
But every aug I've had has been pretty unimpressive
No that's a lie
We had one that was good
are your dps doing good damage
are cds synced
pull size/timing
yeah like i mentioned, was eons' used on cds?
augs are better when they know the route
usually
they can plan ahead their eons
so they will usually do better on well known routes vs some that have some alterations
thats a rough comp for aug
its rare you actually use infernal every 3 minutes on the dot
so it rarely ever syncs with breath in my experience
warlock is but pally is fine
yeah pally is fine its not that rough overall
but unless youre specifically pulling around infernal, its rough for wl/aug
oh yea
only do m+ considering my first trinket purchase this week... want to keep using cheat cause im a coward so what would you pair it with? thinking all totem? or some something else be a better bet?
dreadplates
What's the CD on BOE?
Because it looks like he's just sending it on CD.
In fact, it seems kinda rare that the AvW and BoE had overlap at all.
its like 1:45 i think
1:50 maybe
hes playing bad by sending it on cd instead of waiting the 10 seconds for wings
Might have something to do with it. I know they nerfed aug so it relies a lot more on skill compared to how gigabuffed it was when it dropped in S2
But it seems a lot more reliant on the micromanagement of its party members than before.
But it's like... what? 3rd or 4th on overall spec performance atm?
its still pretty easy
but i mean, sending on cd is just bad
as an aug you depend on your teammates cds
just like PI
except obviously its an entire spec revolving around it contrary to just 1 spell
So... wait if the hooks and logs aren't accurate how are they apparently #1 in M+ atm in WCL at the 95th percentile? Does that mean theyr'e doing even more than its represented?
could be more
could be less
logs are just not accurate
that's all
but thats just looking into their damage contribution, augs are obviously more than that cause their defensive toolkit is unrivaled
until the expansion i guess
I mean, yeah - but damage times keys.
You can play a picture perfect game but if youre moving like molasses to get through packs it's useless.
but even with the spatial paradox change... they still have a lot going for them defensively
uhhh
at this point
in the game
if your dps is struggling
with 525+ ilvl..
they are just bad
or your routing is bad
dps isnt the factor to look at this late into the season, especially one with bullions
You would be genuinley surprised what LFG M+ performance looks like.
Then you've definitely seen people dragging their feet where they should be doing more.
thats why you look at logs
but 95% of the time, its not the dps that depletes
its the deaths, the mistakes, etc
Quite possibly, but every aug I've brought the key feels like we're just slogging through the dungeon. Even if we have low to no deaths stuff is taking forever to die sometimes, and I'm trying to get my head around why.
Mostly because I like how aug feels because I like the buffs, too, but almost every time it feels like we're falling short.
Any suggestive methods for movement during sanguine?
have a plater profile to show when mobs get low health and either stun them or hamstring them and start to kite away to minimize any mobs getting healed, alternatively, don't play 😄
or if you really want to play, have whatever class can taunt in your group taunt mobs away when they are low HP to die away from the group
so why do i read here rageheart bait, get dreadplates, but then when im looking up logs of keys its like this which seems the complete opposite... trying to understand
because when you look up logs of keys youre looking at a subset
usually high rated top keys that bought it on day 1
because they thought it was gonna be as strong as it was in s3
but it isn't because defensively, treemouth didnt exist in s3
and offensively, dreadplates didnt exist in s3
and dreadplates got buffed so its damage triggers on buff fade instead of only when you take damage/plate break
as high rated players bought it, everyone else thought it must be good, so they bought it as well
and that snowballed
does that make sense?
This explaination makes sense.
Also of note is that, outside of externals trinkets, none have particularly been a hard requirement for timing even some of the highest keys done at all; people often even choose trinkets that do almost nothing (Codex from SL on War comes to mind) because they're working off limited knowledge in theorycraft land since that, ultimately, isn't that necessary to timing keys. Timing the key is what's necessary to timing the key, so finding ways to quickly round up mobs, control them, and delet them
Tank wise at least; some specs were hankering for some rageheart to not die iirc last season
You can't outgear the skill requirement.
hey tryin to find out if voice of the silent star is worth in keys. i dont push high keys and i cant find how often it procs in keys. i see that it takes 2 min in a raid for it to proc but nothing about keys. just curious
The class guide I read said that the lack of stamina wasn''t worth it since the proc rate is so low. However, I've also read that the overall impact it has is small so it really comes down to if you value more hp or more damage.
It pretty much never procs in keys, to be specific, so you're losing the stam for
nothing, really
man idk if its becuase im being more casual and doing more lower keys this season, but god damn are groups awful
1-2 dps doing less damage than the tank every run
What key level range?
started doing 4-6s, being pretty casual just one run a week for vault, not into farming portals i already have so i mostly play my prot paladin
Well the good news is you don't much damage to time those keys. I find it's usually a duo being carried (not always for payment but maybe a more casual friend).
Once I got into the 10+ range the dps are consistently higher than me.
if only i got groups good enough to time my last 2 runs
my group almost wiped to nelth's mammoth boss on fort week i didnt think that was possible
cant fail
Yes I lost two dps to the mammoth as well in an 8 - was out dpsing both before they died. The pug pain on these lost seasons is real.
optimal dps comp
vdh druid spriest spriest spriest is literally the best dps comp u can play if you can survive in the key
if u cant survive u bring an aug instead of a third spriest
imagine all 3 SP missing their shadow crash
LMAO
youd be amazed how unpoular of an opinion that is on reddit
"no you need mage because it gives int to the spriest"
ok but they are gapped by 40% overall
with the same damage profile
"no mage has a great damage profile for keys you need it in the group"
(spriest does the exact same thing lol)
wow+reddit is a helluva combo
choco we've been over this
no they dont
AI is fucking strong
plus who the fuck are 3/2 SPs gonna PI
each other?
double, triple VE? no mass barrier?
afflicted sanguine fort
nim can you lie to me and say the affixes are volcanic storming
the affixes are volcanic storming
Do we need both Shadowflame embelish for the double ring to be worth it?
storming
Thanks for being the bearer of good news, Nim
head enchant / gholak / etc
Funny go up and it doesn't affect the weekly keys I hit since I ain't pushing
just no reason to put on anything other than shadowflame
man i took a storming in first pull of nelths lair, died literally 0.1 seconds later
and since then that affix tilts me
alright 🙂 I can recraft my neck since I'm unable to get literally any other neck lol
next week is a blessing
yeeeeeee
didnt someone say this week was supposed to be weekly quest for bullions? or is that next week i guess?
cool, thanks!
vault keys today are REALLY bad lol
good thing i can carry
(:
holy molly
i died to AA on agro, after i waited on my mount for 2 hours, on 5 different pulls
in this one
???
lmao
literally out of combat for like 5 mins cause i thought they would rez me
insta agroed next bird pack
and i still was only 9k under the hunter
yikes
i sneaked this one in
and they gave me 300g lol
honestly i think im gonna start doing that, my repairs are 500g, and our guild bank is in shambles
based
yo i hadnt seen that hunter's name bonchon is awesome
Since I went arms this week, I’ve hated every tank I’ve played with
Or almost
Doing the weirdest shit. And I thought my tanking was sketchy
And the affix too like I’m in a 13 with a 3k pally who didn’t talent I to a CC
@lusty grotto Anyhing i can do with this vault? i got mythic head aleardy
Guess he really needed the poison cleanse for RLP
Do you have OCE and play arms at all?
huh?
dont have and dont play arms
unbound freedom
Ya he had that on
I mean the dude didn’t care enough to take a cc
Also they should take turn evil
And run repentance
Sorry and run blinding light
cause you need a stop
That’s what I meant
Everyone talks about pally utility but idk
Freedom Is niche, sac is cool if they use it and can live. Cooler on prot
There aren’t a ton of great bops here. 1m30 stop is not great
It’s really just CR
sac is insanely, insanely good
no
why not
now to find a fight lasting long enough to achieve maximum potential

anvil works well on short fights
signet is a diff story
this is 3min rashok
but i couldnt beat my old record sadly
hmmm what about augury in short fight?
yah also loose strength
hmmm so anvil/manic is our only choice for short boss fight?
you can use augury and highroll
yer but trch is fun
hate torch
then your bad

im messing
just karma before hand
its indeed fun
and do more damage
massive brain
wish we could dodge/block and w/e during cast tho
just wanna send it with no thought

send it
fair
What's generally the trinket preference between treemouth and rageheart?
treemouth
because it's a partial absorb that complements our mitigation profile well
and it has primary stats
So I reckon treemouth+scales for the whole defensive package?
scales as in the cheat trinket right?
yep
that is only for the highest of keys
or if you're bad
where a tank death ends the key
I just fall into the latter
not really it would be treemouth and enduring plates
u literally cant die u run those 2
u get 4 uses of plates for every 1 use of cheat death
Enduring plates? I thought it was scales
and like 5 for treemouth
So even in the highest keys you'd opt for plates then?
yes
Alright, good to know!
I'm looking at dreadplates and I'm trying to understand how is it good exactly. Since the damage reduction seems relatively low? 100k per hit - I imagine that's great for melee attacks, but whatever spell is coming in 500k a pop it seems a bit weak?
Other than the offensive aspect of it
it synergize with your SB and IP
to summarize and paraphrase how dreadplates works btw:
it mitigates dmg after absorbs not before
a plate only breaks by actual dmg received after the dreadplates and absorbs
if you 100% absorb dmg, none of the dmg will count towards the dmg needed to break a plate which is why BDK can barely break any of the plates
its mitigation/ "healing" does not show up anywhere, you need to reverse engineer logs to figure out its value
each individual plate stacks in how much dmg it absorbs, so with 5 plates you absorb 150k dmg per damage instance (pseudo aegis) (capped at 50% of the hit, its not a full immunity)
the trinket scans for a dmg even every 2 seconds to see if a plate would break, if that SPECIFIC hit is parried/dodged, absorbed or simply not large enough a plate will not break
Let me try and wrap my head around this
I'm reducing the damage I receive with IP and SB - whatever's left comes through and is then further mitigated by a plate (roughly 80-120k (?) based on item level). We gain value from losing plates as it then provides the damage part of the trinket, but when it comes to the defensive aspects of it - it's around 100k mitigation per hit for 5 hits
Something like that?
No
the god of prot will explain 😛
It can absorb infinite amounts if you give it enough hits
Yes
In the biggest use I've seen, that trinket absorbed I think like 8 million dmg in 1 use
My personal biggest one was like 3.4million
So it's phenomenal when you're in a huge pack that deals a whole lot of damage - say like a fort week. But when you need to mitigate single large chunks of damage, it's not really meant for that?
Ideally you do yes
And all the scariest scenarios in keys are many hits, not bosses
There are no bosses besides crawth that are scary
And guess what crawth does
A fat fucking bleed
big hit bleed
Alright, really appreciate the explanation!
so we basically want treemouth+dreadplates for an optimal setup
Thundderz already copied the pin but it's not as easy to read in that way
But there's an explanation of the trinket in the pins
yeah it's a bit complicated
Uuuh I guess?
I don't think you want 2 defensive trinkets
If you want to push turbo mega keys and you absolutely need a cheat death, you run that
I'm more in the camp of being bad.
- dreadplate or treemouth
hes doing 12s nome
Alright then
or around that last time he said
If you are bad then cheat death will come in handy even moreso
So I guess it's up to you then
Dreadplate+ X
i dunno i feel like him having treemouth one pack dread plates the next
will do more than cheat
just cause u get far more uses granted u can still die tho
Eh, it also takes a certain amount of know-how to properly use tree-mouth
As its also only a 50% absorb with self dmg involved
So you wanna use it before getting clapped
I mean ideally I'd want to run what's optimal and simply stop being bad, rather than get used to have 2 defensive trinkets to save me constantly and then when I reach a point where I have to transition, I end up relying on something that's not there
why cant more ppl have that mind set
So what would generally be a great offensive trinket for warriors? Since I'm mostly seeing something like rageheart on murlok?
u'd run dreadplates + icon/anvil/signet imo
u can run torch but thats risky the higher u go
not really u loose stacks slowly over time so u can keep high stacks kinda easily
anvil also same issue as signet u can loose it but it does truck if u keep it up
I mean if signet is the play that'd be pretty great. Since it's the case for the other 2 specs as well for ST.
What's the reason for running say scales+rageheart then?
ppl at the top arent always correct or right
and ppl just copy with no thought
rageheart is a good trinket and was great last season
That's why I came here asking
see u did the correct thing
this is why websites like murlok io etc arent the best
they miss a lot of explanation
and just show basically ppl copying each other
I guess it's adapted to a particular key they were doing or a setup. Since I presume running a 19 is vastly different from a 16
it is
but even some of them log and they dont play the best. like its not the best thing to do. to just follow the ppl at the top because sometimes they are playing wrong. like last time i checked one of the top warriors on io myself for instance he had bought both fryakk trinkets for some reason and not gholaks
and wasnt running enduring and still running battering ram even after the change
🤷
I guess after a certain skillpoint you just care less about it? Or an oversight. Beats me
But alright, signet+treemouth/dreadplates it is
no its because in high keys
as a tank your play if far less impactful
your survivibility is more on the group than u
or well the keys success is more on the group play than individual if u stay alive which can be done with pressing a trinket every 1-2 mins and procing cheat
u dont really need to do anything else
like we had a huge problem in SLs where the top warrior played the wrong talents and also could get more than 60% blocked hits for like the whole expansion

Boy I hope I get to that point one day where you can just do everything automatically and just let the party take the wheel
But I really appreciate the insights and suggestions!
thats why i'm stuck in the 11-12 range lol
u wanna get to the point of nome where your muscle memory of the class is better than 99% of other ppl
u can never get to sense that is just the best
Sense mastered Prot Warrior before 2004
tru
🐐
dreadplate also really cool for dots
Prot War is interesting cause the scary bosses for us are different then for VDH.... like Leymor and Umbra are piss easy on Prot War at pretty much every level cause Spell Reflect is just straight stonks
for VDH.... it can get pretty spicey
likewise... Crawth is a pain in butt for us, but not so on VDH and dreadplates works on the bleed ticks
Crafty is a big old IP spam boss
its not as a bad as it was in S1
I usually run out of défensives around 5-10% and I’m like just kill this thing already
and having dwarf racial and/or a evoker for bleed dispells goes a long way
which part do you SR on Leymour?
infused strike
you can also leap out of range of his frontal

Yeah, the leap makes it exceptionally simple. I just find trying to gather the slimes after they spawn from the trees a bit of a nuisance while you're running back
at least when I do that key, everyone goes to melee to let the tank pick em up
its pretty unreasonable to expect the tank to run a circle around the room to pick them all up
That's pretty smart. Smarter than I'd expect the average pug to be unfortunately.
wasnt planning too anywa

to prepare for push weeks
Guys, how do you tank Uldaman properly on Fort and Sanguine week? The healer siad I'm worst tank ever. Form my point of view its hard to deal with mobs hitting like a truck and that there are so manyh casters
Needless to say we didn't complete the run. This was a 10 key.
Tips are appreciated.
thats the fun part u dont
Well... that's not great :/
Q: can ignore pain crit?
I dont' think so?
Its frustrating when people leave comments like that and when you ask for any tips. You either get no response or just don't play warrior.
cannot
oh im not saying dont play warrior
im just saying skip the key for this week
on anything
@jagged pier , i'm not saying you are I'm saying other peopel in groups I am
sanguine is extremely punishing
sorry for the misunderstanding!
Bummer but thanks for the info
mixed with no mob displacement on our end
the best way to deal with sanguine in that key is abusing line of sight
@strong forum , that is one of our downsides isn't it? Like in our toolkit we don't have a lot of that stuff
you straight up gotta abuse every angle of line of sight to force move caster mobs
I was trying to LOS the chomp from the basilisk. But its a pug so my healer if hes trying to heal me can't also heal me
technically shouldnt need healing
plus that stupid ass refti mob. The jagged bite hits ridiculous too. So I was kidding it.
Oh which? the Chomp?
no, you
so you're saying if I los properly there is no need for healing besides using my shield block and ignore pain
no i mean if you can fight the mobs properly you shouldnt need healer attention
and the LoS abusing is purely because of sanguine management
so force mobs to move out of the poop
not to avoid being hit
just to force mobs to move
and than you learn that some mobs just cast through walls...
nah
Yeah like in Ruby.
the big dragon mob who can charge through walls
Hahhahaah
it charges at a player
I know but still he can still charge through a wall hahaha
walls mean ntohign to him
well not through, it charges along the wall
because it aims at the direction of the player
if that player is far away
the mob will charge far
its a very special case
Yeah true.
Welp, I'll try uldaman again sometime this week. Glad I talked to you guys that I'm not alone. I'll try out what @strong forum suggested. Though, some of their attacks even using ignore pain plus switching to def stance is hard
they just consume ignore pain
Yeah, I'm constantly spending on it. Sometiems I find myself wihtout rage.
to activate another ignore pain
this si where trinkets are helpful.
just abc and never idle
lol
if you find yourself rage starved that means you are making rotational mistakes at other ends
or youre playing Barbaric Training
I would say an issue I have that I haven't complete improved on is sometimes overspending rage due to fear of big and bad happening..
fear isnt good
it will cause you to play worse
will cause you to hold off on pressing buttons
and making mistakes
Which leads to rage starvation. Or at other times, no one interrupts and I just eat big spells
Which doesn't help.
I guess that is the pain of playing in a PUG.
Yup. practicing on that.
I have a bad habit of pressing revenge when it doesn't proc haha
Anywho, thanks @strong forum
uldaman is closed in sanguine weeks
and that is not a joke
playing uldaman on sanguine week is just masochistic
heyo, I'm a recent prot enjoyer coming from furry, any recommendation for players to watch running m+? Coming from fury, I'm ofc watching protcake.
and theres sense

Yeah, so I am told haha.
grieftorch vs dreadplates, hard choices
lmfao
ignore that
sark cloak response that didnt send bc discord broke fro me lastnight
What do you usually say if you beating DPS as tank nome? Assuming the DPS is pug
keep up nerds
I mean if I want to finish the key I dont say anything until keys done
on my very few recent incurssions into prot Ive found this happens very often on the 10-12 level
however, a gnome is still working on his mitigation.
Be a chad and say nothing
Let the damage speak for itself
btw, is gholak's proc important for proccing fire dmg/shield rings?
Im debating wether my bullion goes to Signet or to Gholaks
yo guys a quick question: should I use my first Prot bullions on Gholak or a tank trinket like Rageheart?
gholaks 100%
to both of your questions
Gholaks is important to proc fire ring damage, grabbing aggro at the start of pulls
you can farm Treemouths splinter which is just a better rageheart from Brackenhide
or Granyths from Nokhuud if it drops, but i wouldnt farm it
sweet! I main fury and have been sinkin bullions into that, so was kinda wondering what are the more important pieces for prot,
Rageheart is fine, but you dont need it and it gets worse as damage intake goes up
since it absorbs 100% of incoming damage, vs Treemouths that absorbs 50% (lasts longer for same incoming damage)
curently sitting on Signet and Augury for trinkets, reckon they're ok to run as prot
You shouldnt need a defensive trinket right away for lower keys, but you will appreciate having the extra damage on pull when you run with a 525 ret that blasts damage right away
ya those are fine, I'd say anvil is superior to signet brand if you have it
Augury is fine for damage, but RNG. do you have other fury trinkets?
got signet and anvil as lfr quality so canchange, just never used anvil
oh I got the puzzlebox but it simms mega bad for some reason
anvil will do AOE damage no matter what, signet will only do AOE at max stacks. but if you dont want the extra button to press signet is fine
also this week you can try for Dreadplates, great trinket for offense and defense drops from first raid boss
yeah been running that on outlaw, sadly It pops at the tail end of a pull so I can't hit maximum ammount of mobs with it
on a tank it' s propably a lot easier
considering ur getting hit and not trying to avoid damage 😄
yup haha
sweet
how do you evaluate defensive benefits of all totem?
I have a question about dreadplate, when the beam triggered, do we need to kite the adds through that beam path or just stay and let the beam go away?
Well that depends if it times out it can go anywhere if its gets broken it goes towards what broke ot
So stand literally inside the mobs
you dont really play it for defensive purposes
or at least I dont know how you would
it does 4-5% overall I find it kinda meh
Do you even know what All-Totem does?
cause its full benefit wont be found in details
is improved heroic throw good or bad?
i assume its bad if you can reliably pull big packs?
but it also applies deep wounds
you can take it if you want, but you shouldnt have issues applying deep wounds with just your normal rotation buttons
its benefit is for getting threat at range on multiple targets are once
yeah that's what im thinking
the buffs are massive but really random so idk if theyre that useful
you can instead charge and TC then charge the next pack
this is whatever
one is a haste steroid, the other is armor (which as a warrior is converted to str), one is a hard hitting dot (also uncapped), and the other is a heal
u apply with revenge
for a really short amount of time tho i think like 5s or 6
so stars really have to align alot
its bad for raiding and there are prob better options in keys
it rotates every 30 seconds...
you can play what you want; lots of good trinkets out there
but its a totally passive trinket, gives prim stat, and provides good damage buffs and defensives buffs
Sad though I haven't get to try the all totem, haven't drop for me in heroic or vault
its a good trinket... but its not particularly exciting
like, its no boon or guzzie ya know
which are just fun trinkets to play with
2 are 10 seconds, 1 is 8 and the fire dot is 6sec but not a buff anyway
a 528 all-totem grants you:
- Air: 7.3k haste, aka 40% for 10 seconds
- Earth: 34k armor, aka 1.4k strength for 10 seconds
- Ice: 93k hps hot for 8 seconds
- Fire: Uncapped aoe dot on all targets infront of you for 6 seconds
rotating from Earth -> Fire -> Ice -> Air -> Earth
So you basically have 30% uptime on those huge buffs
- the uncapped dmg it does
So not only does it do 16-20k dps but also those gigantic buffs
its an extra 5-6% for me
Its stacked

if 16-20k is just from fire
a
how do you avoid the nasty bleeds from crocolisks and snake people in uldaman?
just by kiting?
NO 16. You shall not Sanguine !
crocolisks are much harder to avoid and you'll need party help
the snake bleeds are fully avoidable by stutter stepping out of range
you force them to cast and step back just out of range
then they will recast again and so on
How's my favourite ginger twink?
You excited for tww?

Hey y'all. Im a healer but I have a question about Prot warriors. Since I see we're talkin' about bleeds. Does IP prevent portions of bleed damage, as they're physical?
Or once a buff is applied, that's it for IP
prevents
Okay. Realistically how often should I expect the Prot warrior to be defensive-less? With IP uptime, I'd imagine the answer is "Never", but sometimes they get smacked.
And do you have abilities that aren't spenders that you can utilize before a first pull so you don't get blapped by the first pull of a dungeon with no rage?
On my recent prot endeavors, not in any way proficient yet, I can already tell that getting smacked mostly means skill issue.
I can think of shield charge to get shield block up but im sure there are better answers.
you realistically should not get bslapped when you scharge into a pack
you already start building rage the moment in charge in
then you can start firing
if a prot warr dies the first 5s of a pull
then we have a problem
Then should I expect pulls that last longer to be an issue? if they have upfront defensive capabilities, do they ever run out of defensives to pop on, say, a 13 or higher fortified week?
they should not run out because talents and rage economy reduces the cooldowns on some of our defensives
thunderlord reduces demo shout rage consuption reduces shield wall
with correct plays we should be able to spin defensives around for longer pulls
The bigger issue with longer pulls, assuming the warrior is playing properly, is mobs sometimes awkwardly randomly micro walk and hit from behind if you're unlucky
You need to be facing a mob to block, and block is the single most overpowered defensive ability in the game when it's guaranteed like this
so that can cause big no-nos since Warrior is balanced around block
or classes that can push away trash pushes them behind the tank then they syncro their melees and you get your spine rearranged

There will eventually be a time when actual defensive CDs aren't up, since Shield Wall, Spell Block, Demo Shout, LS don't last forever and all, but the majority of damage coming in baseline is melees, which block heavily diminishes; Prot War takes dramatically less damage than other tanks from that form of damage, so the bigger concerns is actually making sure the other murder abilities don't get off/are mitigated
So things like stone blast casts, basi bleeds in Ulda, etc
Gotcha gotcha. Thank you, warriors, for your informations! 🙂
If your warrior tank dies from just being swung at, they're almost certainly either unlucky or shit, since you can get 100% effective block uptime fairly easily
The other warning note I'll give is that even Prot Wars in high key levels are not immune to the being shit bit; more than a few who even stream can be pointed out as being straight carried by their healer
yes our main ways of going floorpov are magic attacks or bleeds
Not even most magic, tbh, since all notable magic attacks I can think off can be mitigated via spell block, so that and shield wall turns a lot of pressure down right now, along with SR's reduction
i can think of one but i'm not going to name him
40% SB uptime in a 16-17 ain't it
There's only really bleeds that go off that concern me atm
That and Incorp/Afflicted going off and people going "Damn, if only we had better gear, we could heal through."
that's gone kekw
and i'm glad for it
i'm gonna have fun this weekend
I'd rather have a shit time than a waste of time
we're gonna get destroyed in testing
and people are already getting their pitchforks out for the m+ changes
as they are straight garbage
The ignore armor part one is hilarious because I think block will still cover most of the damage
so i think prot war will still be chilling
sounds like a character select skill dif
does logs show only direct dmg for this trinket or it accounts the stat buffs too?
so uh... if u go too fast in Uldaman do u somehow trigger the roleplay that sutns youin place
bc we triggered the RP that trapped us in place mid combat
not a fun time
yeah thats a bug
fun
Prot warr is SoD gets death grip? Jealous smh
Elementium Pocket Anvil or all totem for m+ ?
what the hell, i cant upgrade any of my gear from season 4
everything is greyed out, anyone experiecing the same thing?
i have plenty of crests :C
try relog?
wowhead just posted about it, experiencing it on my end too. Interestingly you can upgrade old season 3 items
yeah let me upgrade my valentines neck rq
fuck i just sold some of my old s3 items on my monk; i need some of those tier appearances on 'em
upgrade to s3 levels? or some crazy current levels?
5% overall dmg from 493 ilvl dreadplate. its pretty darn good
have no idea how much it healed but it feels tanky when its up
I’m Not well versed in prot warrior at all and thinking of gearing an alt tank, what are its weaknesses in m+?
The logs don't check how much it mitigates, but it's basically factored after mitigation, absorbs, etc.
So it's literally scooping up the leftovers of every damage iteration in the combat log.
Which means, usually - provided you manage CDs right or have a well-padded IP, you're basically taking no damage.
It's genuinely kinda batshit how much it soaks up; you can salvage a botched pull with it.
But it's much better to use it as an additional defensive in your back pocket aligned with huge, huge pulls.
That way you're getting value both ways.
I'm thinking of popping it before big pulls so when I dive in there's time for the healer to relax
Of course the game breaks the moment after I buy it from the vendor lol
is that wowanalyzer?
ya
oh sick, i didnt know that site was still runnin
its fully running for alot of specs
not up to date for prot
but this tool kind of works
it works better for VDH however
sounds familiar
wait do you just dump a log in
hmmm very nice then it says my 493 version "healed" / mitigated around 10%
Augury oder Tainted heart? :/
r plates that good in raid envir?
got dreadplates on 522
I had the impression they're more of an aoe kind of trink
yeah dread didnt feel that good in Mythic raid atm :X
usually would go augury because dps ^^
dreadplates better than tainted heart in raid? O:
Plates isnt good in raid
And with how easy the bosses are there should be no reason run a defensive trinket anyway
So u shoild be running torch + signet/anvil in raid
So what would you recommend buying ? dreadplates, torch, anvil and splinter 522 already
grieftorch is generally better, even if ppl wont die its less random
ah nice
and it gives main stat
