If the new char kind, easiest would be to just quick farm out crests or buy cheap boes and just start slapping M+; it's possible to do 20s in 44x gear if you're skilled enough, though you only need to go up to 16s to farm crests to craft highest level crafting gear

Vers will be slightly better defensively while crit will be slightly better offensively. Thereās next to no difference, stats sound good.

heres a breakdown of how a BDK deals with oakheart
for prot war, take the CD reduction for leap; leap is your defensive for each breath (no damage taken big win!)
for grips be in DStance and use Spell Reflect for each one
on top of DStance and Spell Reflect, Rotate SW, Last Stand, and Demo
no amount of vers, crit, mastery or whatever is going to be the difference maker on doing this boss (or any for that matter)

I don't know if anyone else has the same issue with Oakheart or if it's just something wrong with my UI but when I get gripped my own party frame dissappears and I am replaced with Oakheart, I've taken to setting myself as focus during that fight so that I can see my rage & health bar. Aside from that I deal with it as everyone else here has mentioned. Leap the breath, def stance and spell reflect each time the grip comes in and one big cd. Worth communicating with your healer so you don't overlap the big buttons.

since I got clapped pretty hard it must be the distance because i usually walked out and leaped back, since charge distance was too far. I am ilvl 486, but we had pretty low geared healers and only 2 of them on that run with 15 peepos... could be the scaling that was fucking me there, plus standing too long in the fire and missing IP

Third charge:
