To expand on what Nome said, it also depends on how long is left in the fight/how many stacks you can handle. If you can't stay alive through the entire boss, you reset around 30-33 (after third thorn) so the healer can actually heal through the fire. Then after that, you can again gauge whether you can live enough stacks to finish or if you need a second reset (again around 30-33 stacks after a thorns)

I've looked at a couple of the higher tyr logs and they tend to reset around that mark, but there's not a lot of prot war logs that high; I assume prot probably only has to reset once though and just coast the rest of the fight

But some abilities/trinkets don’t do the same damage as me, they have their revenge way higher than me (I used it 15 times and sim used it 22 times)
