I have a 486 crafted shield atm so its only a 3 ilvl upgrade once done.
A 483 helm to a 489 helm is a 1200 DPS upgrade for me, and the 3 ilvl on shield is only 315 block value ISH.

your healers also should have tried to top you off a bit before it too, particularly since you were sitting at less than 50% without much dedicated healing for more than a few seconds before hand (though you did IV at one point), but there's more you could have done

So there wasn't reason for them to risk you being low like that, but you still could have done more

Signet is great as long as you keep stacks; it can be hard in some dungeons, but is doable in all iirc, hardest off the top of my head would be going elevator in Throne. If you're not keeping stacks for whatever reason (stopping because DPS died, you need to recover, etc), it's really bad.
For other trinkets, pretty much any raid trinket is fine, Sandglass is fine, iirc Augury is the best aoe, but
loosely just grab raid trinkets in general and you're good to go
