Here people often say if you die, it's not bc of missing Vers but bc u just make mistakes that you should avoid in the first place. So while Vers might make you more tanky, prot is already very tanky and the extra dmg from crit benefits you more than Vers does (bc it doesn't save you from fatal mistakes anyway)
So people just Sim for dmg instead of stacking Vers for a little bit of overall dmg taken
That's the same reason as for why prot warriors often take dmg trinkets instead of defensive ones, unless you're really pushing high keys

99% of the time, the question is completely moot anyway; wear your Tier, and your highest ilvl pieces. You probably don't have very much room for tweaking your stats until late in the season, at which point it's moot because most people aren't pushing stupid high keys and can overpower +20s on sheer damage anyway
