Some very linear dungeons should work that way for sure (BH is one, NL another). Others with good shortcut routes (e.g. Neltharus) don't need them.

I do from the start to the 3 basilisks so it's actually 4 together, then just rotate defensives. Dwarf if I'm in bad danger (or if not dwarf, you could call for a caut flame or external)
But yeah, hamstringing them and doing a bit of baby kiting is good
