to summarize and paraphrase how dreadplates works btw:
- it mitigates dmg after absorbs not before
- a plate only breaks by actual dmg received after the dreadplates and absorbs
- if you 100% absorb dmg, none of the dmg will count towards the dmg needed to break a plate which is why BDK can barely break any of the plates
- its mitigation/ "healing" does not show up anywhere, you need to reverse engineer logs to figure out its value
- each individual plate stacks in how much dmg it absorbs, so with 5 plates you absorb 150k dmg per damage instance (pseudo aegis) (capped at 50% of the hit, its not a full immunity)
- the trinket scans for a dmg even every 2 seconds to see if a plate would break, if that SPECIFIC hit is parried/dodged, absorbed or simply not large enough a plate will not break
it can be a ridiculous defensive trinket when you dont take enough dmg to break plates, and it also does huge amount of dmg.

Its hard to determine when you should press your defensive from a wowA PoV
So we focus on rotation, when you pressed defensives (major and minor) POORLY
And in depth stats
One good stat it generates, which I imagine a lot of prot warriors ignore, is just using spell reflect for magic damage
There is a check to make sure you're reducing X% of magic damage a fight with it
Not that you're reflecting any spells... just that you're using the DR portion of it
Another great one is being able to track CD of an ability even with active CDR abilities

But the general idea wowA goes for is to push you to use them in general but not nearly 100% (or even 75%)

But I also do think that people can use CDs much more aggressively than they think due to all the CDR you can get for certain ones
I think right now prot warriors thresholds for certain defensives are a little high
But that is because we (mwahi and me) haven't gone through to set them up correctly yet

like popping it on cd, isn't really good if there's tank busters or big pulls around the corner where you need to hold off to use them for those

we were short on time so we decided to bring to chains since echo did that 3 mob pack with it
i was like fuck it
blazewing with the 2 wardens and the snapped lavabearers
anyway we were off by like 1 min
but it was good to see what changed with wardens cause that Echo thing took me by surprise
travel time bringing the blaze and the wardens adds up with lost uptime
so its just better to just snap the tenders into it and forget the chains i guess

until Echo pulled the wardens into it on TGP, people assumed they behaved before the changes, where they couldnt get tripped but they still took the splash damage

But yeah, strength matters the most, and crit is more technically likely to save you than vers, but is less consistent damage mitigation.
You will not notice it at all, so if you have to go hella out of your way to change pieces to crit, don't worry about it. All the secondaries are close enough that fussing over them isn't worth it unless you've got nothing else to do, since the main survivability comes from play and how you handle pulls/fights
It's not currently your problem, but it's worth keeping in mind if it becomes that way
