tl;dr you take a little more damage upfront but any given cast of IP lasts longer marginally longer (not that that really means anything because the total absorb value is what matters and that is unchanged). The total amount the IP will absorb is unchanged, and in most scenarios you functionally have IP up 90+% of the time with active melee uptime. All it means is prot warr feels a little more damage into their healthbar, especially in situations where they had perma IP

Not at all, because the total absorb doesn't change. You would just consume it a bit slower. Your overall IP absorb remains the same.
