Essentially this has been a recurring issue ever since I got this PC. I have run every diagnostic known to man on it to no avail. It is a powerspec G719 with a ryzen 7 9700X and occasionally and randomly the screens go black and the fans spin up to 100%, forced to restart from the power button, and the when it boots up the graphics drivers have magically uninstalled themselves. It has occasionally been more stable on certain driver versions like 25.12.1 is what I’m using right now. I have set my max frequency to 2475 and minimum to 2100 with a more aggressive fan curve to 100%. My only thought at this point is thermal expansion or something like that. Would love to hear suggestions.

To give some examples of situations it typically happens under gaming load but not everytime. Sometimes it is random. I just had a six hour arc raiders session no issue and then boom
And no daisy chain on the power cables either to the GPU
Question I just thought about it. Could SAM be triggering this?

(See example below.)
ive already sent that all over recently
regardless here you go @carmine cobalt
I’ve spent the better part of a year trying to pin down this issue to no avail
would be good knowing when exactly this started happening
It used to very often then I managed to control it a little
My theory rn is thermal expansion
run hwinfo in sensors only mode in the background, play a game until that issue occurs, then screenshot CPU, Mainboard, memory and GPU values
problem with that is that when that happens the screens go black so theres no way to even capture the issue
tried Ctrl-Shift-Win-B?
force-restart the driver
Just happened and I tried that
Just made a beep
display back up?
Nope
if not, try hitting it a few more times
I did
I tried for five minutes nothing
And when I reboot it’s just like the drivers are gone
after rebooting, send a screenshot of your windows settings pls
in windows update -> update history -> driver updates
uh, follow the pinned guide in #tech-help and perform a clean driver install please
did what
the thing where it black screens and fans go to max but i still have audio and can type and do everything its just the displays that go black
i wonder if it could be a power supply issue?
given how you had the issue for a long time, its really hard to factor out specific things
follow that guide step by step
Did it
Didnt fix it.
Kinda frustrating that adrenaline just isn’t listening to my cloc speed restrictions.
https://community.microcenter.com/discussion/15693/my-powerspec-g719-got-black-screen-while-gaming here is a post that details exactly what is happening ot me
sounds a lot like what happened with my 7800 xt
black screens and drivers disappearing on restart
mine died completely after about a month of that happening
it mightve been overheating since i was hitting 80 gpu temp and 110 hotspot quite often
this is also what is happening on my 9070xt
I had this issue too it was disabling my driver too I had to go in device manager re enable it. I was playing apex and when I tab out for a while it just black screens. I turned off MPO and its been fine for over 2 hours now with the game open and tabbed out.
Its happening to a lot of people when I looked into it I got the idea of MPO from a post I seen a long time ago.
also when the driver times out and isnt enabled you can't even install drivers it just gives errors pain in the butt.
My friend had this too he tried to use amd clean up and lost audio, installing new drivers for amd wouldnt fix it so he just reinstalled windows all from these black screens
thats more likely due to windows update overriding the driver
I have been stable for a while now disabling zero RPM mode. @tender owl @floral oriole this was contributing to heat getting stuck in my PC and not being exhausted so I think it could have been this so I recommend playing with your fan curve a little and disabling zero RPM mode
I say a while but
Same issue happens to me. Even with windows update disabled
My GPU isn’t getting anywhere near that. It’s at like 65
Under load
Did MPO work
Might be that for me as well. One of many many things I’ve tried
So far so good
