Hi, lately I’ve been playing NFS Unbound (I know what people think about it but NFS games are my guilty pleasure). However, I noticed something a bit strange. I have some old, not very gaming Acer 1080p 75Hz monitor that, surprisingly, supports Adaptive Sync which is compatible with FreeSync (according to the Adrenalin software)
When I have FreeSync turned off on the monitor and VSync enabled in NFS, the game nicely caps at 75 FPS and I don’t get any screen tearing. I prefer playing with VSync anyway since I’m using a controller and this game doesn’t require insanely low input lag.
But when I enable FreeSync on the monitor and keep VSync enabled in the game, the game caps at 150 FPS (I’m not sure if that’s the engine limit for NFS or just 75 × 2). And I don’t like that, it unnecessarily loads my PC and draws more power for frames I can’t even see. I can hear the PC running much louder compared to just running at 75 FPS without FreeSync.
So here’s my question: is there any way in the Adrenalin settings, in the game, or somewhere else to cap the FPS to 75 while keeping FreeSync enabled and avoiding screen tearing?
I tried using AMD Chill set to 75 FPS, but that causes screen tearing.
