Is the GPU plugged to the other USB-C of this ? If yes. This might be why it's not recognized

its plugged into usb C port on the side the dock you can get for it uses the same port

Tried to get it directly plugged ? Like if your laptops have a SATA SSD (or HDD) and to plug it directly into the Nvme slot of your laptop. Sometimes the simple fact of putting another adapter make my device unrecognized on desktop

but that CPU wasnt good enough so i switched to my laptop which has a much newer cpu

Just because it works. Doesn't mean it will works everywhere. It's like a motherboard on desktop (kinda same for laptop) you never know the PCIe communication was made

Still got the other laptop you tried and it was working ? If that doesn't work there too. Probably the adapter/GPU who's dead. If it works. Then the issues is related to the USB-C of your laptop who can only do specific things (like only powering for some port)
