What do you think ?

Is it okay to run your card on 100% ?

And they created gpus to do what?? Looks good in case only??
Ofc its okay… it is created to work

rapid cove
#

what if you use them on 100% all time ?

my friend was saying that, what if you use a car at 100% all time.. he is IT , and that's how this question created for me

#

i think im always using my gpus at 100% when gaming

The thing is, a car isn't designed to be red-lined consistently.

#

When you do that, you need to swap out components suitable for that kind of wear and tear. And that's always more of a race track thing.

#

If you're driving a road car like that, you are ruining it.

and my work is being a driver, that's why what he said moved me

Electric vehicles will be more reliable in that scenario as they have fewer moving parts.

#

The only moving parts in a computer are fans.

#

Maybe a pump if you have water cooling, or a hard drive.

rapid cove
#

yeah. and that heat runs through the card

dim mural
#

Providing you keep below recommended temperatures, the heat isn't going to cause harm.

#

Of course, less heat is better.

rapid cove
#

do you know in what temperatures should our gpus run ?

Anything below 85 is perfectly normal.

#

90 is technically safe.

#

100/105 is bad.

#

So if you're running Cyberpunk or something and your GPU is hitting 77 Celsius, you are 100% fine.

#

The RX 9070 and 9070 XT cards are very overbuilt however so they run extremely cool.

we were playing DayZ. and we was testing it.

even with high settings on DAYZ(its a 2013 game) (there's extreme setting too) I hit 100% of usage.

160 fps, 2k

That's good, your system is perfectly balanced. 👍

Even in hot day no OC gpu should not hit 100C

the "100%" is an approximated number anyway. There are workloads that will run your card even hotter, physics is the only common denominator and as the guys said above: just keep the temperatures in a safe range.

There are phenomenons such as electromigration or degradation of capacitors. Well designed electronics doesn't wear and tear like your usual car. Otherwise servers couldn't keep up working for a decade 24/7.

Unless the manufacturer messes up. Like Intel with 13th and 14th gen, where they pushed the chips so far, they began degrading in practice within the 2-3 year span and this is unheard of. The components usually last so long (say 10-30+ years), it's not even a worthwhile discussion.

A comparison to cars is inadequate. Comparing spinning hard drives to cars would be correct though.

I was playing Metal Gear Solid V now, all graphics maxed, 120 fps , 2k , for 2 hours + with 50 degrees Celsius , 50-60% load.

it could be DayZ game that it was maxing my load
