#Inconsistency with my 5700xt

This card is about to make me lose my mind. It runs so well when it works but the issue lies in when it works. Especially in newer titles like Marvel Rivals and Cyberpunk it can reach high framerates no problem one day then go ahead and start micro stuttering the next. Maybe this is happening because I bought it second hand but I figured it wouldn't hurt to see if others are struggling with this problem as well.

My current specs are
XFX 5700xt THICC 3 fan
R5 5600
16gb DDR4 3200mhz
650W PSU

A few ideas i'm considering so far:

  1. The card is cooked and just needs to be retired.
  2. Windows 10 performance could be limiting it.
3.Something is limiting it from hitting its full potential
  3. Current Drivers for it are whack (24.12.1)

check cpu-z to see what dram manufacturer your ram is... if it's SK-Hynix... that very much could be the source of your intermitent performance issues..

#

use event viewer to see if you have any kernel power failures listed... there should never be anything listed under the Critical.... months.. years later if the system is proper stable. Sk-hynix based system predominantly show sometimes daily kernel power failures.. or abnormally high audits

You can take #2 and #4 off the list

Dram is from samsung but I just turned off Fast Startup

#

i'll report back on performance in a couple of minutes

#

and nothing found critical in event viewer

#

although i am finding errors relating to the kernel despite not being power failures

can you post those error messages

Can you determine what active processes are at a higher CPU priority level than Normal?

#

I've seen some apps be set to High and cause stutters in games like RGB light control apps

#

if you can't see it in your task manager, Process Lasso is a free utility that can help you see it

yeah give me a bit to give those error messages

#

and just used process lasso the only processes that are above normal and are weird are spotify - Steamwebhelper and DS4windows

#

Heres the errors that I'm aware of so far

Session "Microsoft.Windows.WindowsUpdate.RUXIMLog" failed to start with the following error: 0xC0000035

Session "PerfDiag Logger" stopped due to the following error: 0xC0000188

Windows failed fast startup with error status 0xC00000D4.

0x8007139F: Package family MICROSOFT.COPILOT_8WEKYB3D8BBWE runtime information is corrupted but we cannot repair it at this time.

Update: Updated to Windows 11 (hate the UI but whatever) and the performance is better but still same type of problem going on. I did notice though while watching through AMD's software that sometimes the card will either lower its voltage by itself or lower its clock speed when it feels it doesnt need the full power. As for why, I don't really know but i'll just try to use the manual settings or suck it up and get a 6750xt 🙂

did you give process lasso a go?

I did, I tried giving the game I want the highest priority and seeing what else could cause issues but mostly nothing I could find messing with it
