Hyper Aggro, [Quick]draw and smorc, demon hunter. Warning, first time posting; go easy on me.

See more recent lists further below… the list here is a pre-QuickDraw attempt to combo Finley and “quick-draw” lethal.

AAECAa6pBgTlsASU1ASt4gSongYNtp8EiLIEpeIEq+IExuIE5OQFi+wFsvUF4fgFxfkFpIEG2JUGnJoGAAA=

Some notes on playing:

  • Goal is to win the board early, and smorc down the opponent ASAP.
  • Taunts will kill this deck. Paladin is hard. Finishers through taunt are Kayn Sunfury and Metamorphosis.
  • Don't undersell Weight of the World. It will usually draw 3 or more cards, and often draw a 0-cost damage spell. It will win games, and makes Finely a good inclusion.

Mulligan notes:

  • Always go for a good 1-drop. We play curvestone. Illidari Studies or Vicious Slitherspear are ideal. Snowflipper Penguin and Through Fel and Flames are decent keeps.
  • Bibliomite is king in most early games especially with the coin.
  • Other early plays are good, but situational. Taste of Chaos: only if you know the opponent will have early minions to clear. Saronite Shambler: only if you know you will have time to proc 5 spells.
  • Never keep the draw cards; except possibly Weight of the World in the right match-up. There is enough draw to keep you afloat... most of the time.

Match-ups:

  • Aggro - you lose... This match-up is dependent on you taking initiative and winning the board. Keep in mind that it's usually better to go face and chip than it is to kill a minion. Very difficult match-up; requiring careful balance.
  • Control - favored, but still difficult. Just like kindergarten: Winning depends on you finding lethal before they can stabilize. Do a bit of math. Count the cards that deal more damage than their mana-investment: 1. Dispose of Evidence; 2. Saronite Shambler; 3. Magnifying Glass; 4. Metamorphosis; 5. Momentum. The more of these you can play, the higher your chance of winning.
  • Anything else - You win. From combo to Hunter, this deck punishes those who don't contest the early game. Ping the opponent down and then go in swinging. Should be an easy win.

Card choices:

  • Sir Finley, Sea Guide - Combo card, meant for the big draw turns. After drawing 5+ cards in a turn, Momentum will be discounted to 0; use this to your advantage by pulling Momentum from the bottom of your deck.
  • Kryxis the Voracious - Good stats, also the most sketchy choice. Major replacement here is Sightless Magistrate. I found Sightless Magistrate was only great on an empty hand and still was awkward when it drew cards for the opponent. Kryxis is AMAZING on an empty hand, and is still pretty good if you just need the stats. Hoping to replace this card...
  • Metamorphosis - Meme card, kinda. As mentioned above, this is included as a finisher against taunt and because it CAN deal more than mana-cost (4) damage. Total damage is 8 for 6 mana-spent. Tt allows 5 damage for 6 mana on the same turn played; or 10 damage for 8 across two turns. It's just math (memes). Open to replacing this.

Anecdotal experience:
This is a newbie-stomper, but probably nothing more. Any un-optimized deck will just fold to this list, but anything that can contest the early game has a good chance to beat it. As a shitty diamond 5 to legend, 10x player, I'm constantly improving by learning how to play around the threats. Looking forward to reporting back with stats as I start to collect them while not playing on mobile. Thanks for reading.

Good write up! Very neat deck tbh. I’m glad you’re finding something fun to do with dh this meta PepeLa

If we’re having trouble challenging the early board, chow is pretty good at that

#

Thanks to the list from @fierce swift I'm now running the outcast strategy. Due to the inclusion of chow, the early game is no longer an issue. Biggest limitation is still hitting a dead draw when in top-deck mode.

#

Fun side-note: My previous list evolved to replace Metamorphosis with Ignis for that last bit of reach. I need to play it a bit more on PC to collect better data.

QuickDraw Demon Hunter

fallen forge
#

First take on a QuickDraw hyper aggro DH

#

Notable cuts:

  • Magnifying Glave is out. From my own experience, this card has been nice as a hybrid draw + damage dealer, but due to the anti-synergy with QuickDraw and fact that we have better things to do than dump our hand... Which also means:
  • Snowflipper is out. Originally this was developed as a cute hand-dump archetype, but now the focus is shifting to simply draw and burn the opponent down. Aside from comboing well with some of the draw cards, you never want to see Snowflipper in hand. Cut. Also Kryxis, for the same reasons. This deck wants to burn and cant really capitalize on the stats anyways.
  • Finley is temporarily out. Gaslight Gatekeeper has better synergy with this deck, but the mana-cost difference is significant. Obviously we don't run one and one, but I wonder if there is a card that might be cut to squeeze in Finley for the last combo piece.
#

Notable inclusions:

  • Gaslight Gatekeeper for the reason mentioned above. The perfect combo would be Weight of the Worlds into Gatekeeper the following turn, giving two chances at pulling Momentum for the extra burn.
  • Mindbender. I figured we needed more burn and with Gatekeeper we might have a better shot at actually comboing it out.
  • Illidari Studies: With the newest Outcast card putting our odds of finding the card we need (or even a useful discover) at around 1 in 9 or 11.1%; and at least a third of those cards costing 2 mana or more (after cost reduction)... The math might just work out to this being a bad card.
#

Notable Exclusions:

  • Naga package. I just don't think it belongs in this deck. I'm excited to try Blindeye Sharpshooter combo, but that will look very different. I don't even think I could include predation with just the two naga that I'm running.
  • Ignis... for now. Probably one of the first cards I will be trying again in the future, but I just have a hard time justifying Iggy with only 2 forge cards in the entire deck.
  • Halveria. Different deck; see above posts.

New mulligan strategy:

  1. Dig for early game board control (same as before).
  2. Keep card draw. Prioritize WotW especially against control.
  3. Naga combo cards.
  4. 0-drops are not great keeps.

Didn't record games, but I'm floating in Diamond 3...

Haven’t yet, but that’s an interesting line

Probably cut Taste of chaos to reduce anti-synergy

#

yeah I mostly want double momentum, dispose, but double predation is pretty good too

fallen forge
#

Only bad hits would be the 3-cost draw spells.

#

I wonder if we ever cut Sigil for a minion that can draw big like fool

#

Big issue with the deck is not having enough mana to combo

#

I swapped back to Finley since paying 3 for a slightly more synergistic effect isn’t worth it

Several of big changes:

  • Finley combo is gone. It sucked.
  • Kayn is out. Deck wasn’t losing because of reach issues.
  • Miracle Salesman is in to further strengthen the early game.
  • Saronite Shambler is out. Felt too much like a combo card.
  • Magnifying Glave is in. The damage boost and added draw is desperately needed.
  • Pozzik (!!) is in. This wins games.
  • Felerin is in… but I’m still not sure. It does help win through value.

fallen forge

Honestly I’m just impressed that I’ve been able to float around D3 with this.

#

Definitely a Hyper Aggro strategy, but that’s just aggro dh I guess.

#

Match up spread feels decent, but obviously suffers when facing a lot of blood dk and control warrior

#

Druid and shaman mu are surprisingly winnable.

#

Mage, paladin, and hunter [and plague dk] are the other 3 4 I see semi-frequently, but also feel very possible.

#

I guess I can mention the other 3 classes: priest, rogue, and warlock, haven’t been an issue.

#

Oh and for the mirror matchup, I think we have the edge since we are able to commit all our resources faster than the Naga DH combo plan.

#

Last thing: I didn’t mention that I swapped Sigil for Sightless Magistrate… it’s good.

fallen forge
#

Warning: long opinion post from a 10x player.

Looking back at my games and the advice I gleaned from Kayn: We really don’t need a 4-mana reach card in most matchups. Felerin makes games a little less hopeless when facing classes that have endless board clears: Priest and Warlock, and to a lesser extent Warrior, Shaman and HL Pally.

On the other hand, GDS will be a nice back pocket push to get through taunts that seem to wreck us in Warrior, Shaman, Warlock, plus all the additional life steal in all types of Pally and Druid.

Some classes and archetypes wont be more advantageous one way or another, but I argue that Felerin is probably better in a vacuum than an additional “board clear” and 2 damage face. Examples: Mage, DH mirror, plague DK and blood DK, Hunter, and Rogue.

In conclusion, the “board clear” aspect of Going Down Swinging is what sets this card apart from Kayn. It doesn’t seem necessary for the deck to have tech and reactive plays due to the nature of hyper-aggro. Finally, the sacrifice of 2 additional potential draw cards makes GDS abysmal in a vacuum; however, a vacuum is not where we should be analyzing this deck.

Good luck out there. I hope someone is able to further enlighten me on why GDS sucks or why it might not.

#

Afterthought: is there a world where we cut pozzik?

I believe this is the exception to the rule and GDS is generally worse.

fallen forge
#

One thing though: it does feel like it’s making up for the lack of board clear, but it’s too little and too late to really do the job effectively.

#

In the game I posted, a Felerin may have found a Security! Or wolf and possibly closed out the game only a turn later

It felt like a combination of lucky mulligans plus finally learning the field on my part. I'm sure a better pilot could take this much further.

Local stats:

#

On the GDS discussion: I won a game or three with it, and misplayed more often than not. I think it’s role in this deck is to push in mid-game and keep other aggro decks off the board. It is nice to have against Druid, but it isn’t a mulligan keep and is hard to pull off at the right moment. All in all, that is the flex spot to be examined.

fallen forge
#

#

Aggro DH w/ Less Naga

fallen forge
#

Only improvement from the patch would be the meta shifting to be more greedy… Unfortunately, some of the archetypes supported: sludge warlock, naga priest are not great matchups. Control warrior and blood dk are still completely hopeless. Fortunately, if Paladin doesn’t go away then we may get the edge on that matchup and show better than a coin flip WR.

#

Druid is another improvement which could significantly help depending on where the meta lands

I probably shouldn’t have cooked this… but I did. I wanted to try out some different Draw DH strategies. [[Grimtotem Buzzkill]] weapon discard has a bit of synergy with [[Abyssal Bassist]] which has a bit of synergy with [[Shadestone Skulker]]. I also wanted to see if [[Crystaline statue]] could ever be a real card and I thought the combo with [[Gaslight Gatekeeper]] was too cute to not try.

fallen forge
#

Let’s see how this goes clueless

fallen forge
#

Deck is bad and I should feel bad

#

The alternative draw power worked decently well, but there was nothing to draw into. No come back cards or tempo swings. Would need to find a win the game card to make this work…

#

Crystaline status is as awkward as ever but it does activate decently quick. Playing 5/4s turn after turn is nice, but it needs a follow-up as I mentioned. I guess Zillax or even [[raid leader]] might be nice, but it’s missing more than just that
