Heyo
Eurogamer: No Man's Sky studio unveils procedural fantasy planet adventure Light No Fire
How do you follow-up a game that attempts to simulate an entire universe for your exploratory enjoyment? Hello Games has just answered that very question with the reveal of its next title, Light No Fire, a co-operative adventure set on a procedurally generated fantasy planet.
Specifics are limited at present, but Hello describes Light No Fire as a game about "adventure, building, survival and exploration together" set on an ancient fantasy planet the size of Earth, that "brings the depth of a role playing game to the freedom of a survival sandbox".
The planet itself is procedurally generated, offering a "truly open world, with no boundaries at a scale never attempted before", consisting of "immersive biomes, unique enemies and valuable resources to discover". It's all inspired by classic fantasy - "lore, mystery, and a constant fight for survival" are promised - and it'll see players teaming up to "carve a life together", exploring and surviving, constructing persistent buildings and communities, and more.

Woohoo! So excited for this game!
I saw Rabbit People
Been wanting to play a NMS styled medieval game for a while
This looks amazing
Iโm gonna definitely pre order
The building looked sick with the bricks forming.
Fr
It looks so friggin goooood
Any mention of a release date?

soon
Sean looked utterly giddy lol
Imagine if it were 2026
Did Sean mention how long they've been working on it?
BRUH I AM FREAKING THE F*$*@ OUT
lol right? friggin loved every bit of it

5 years
IT'S NEARLY MIDNIGHT WHERE I'M AT
Just need a release date.
My hype meter is full midnight ๐๐๐๐๐

DRAGON! XD
I'll probably pre-order which is rare for me lol
Maybe i may too, but i'll wait for few more trailers
But you seem to be playing as different kind of animals? I saw antelope, bunnies, and some hidden in hoods
He said "bigger than Earth"

If so, its exactly the game i want
Mountains higher than anything on earth, too
Just let me be a lizard or dragonoid, xD

This was noteworthy imo
MP from the ground up
sean murray, you absolute bastard
I was shooting for a reasonable sleep schedule tonight and you drop this
i love you
XD

Release date when? ๐ญ
Will have to watch that on slower speed to catch all the things
Replace that starfield to LNF xD
Way too flashy
WOOHOOO

Alright I must pause my hype and resume boring homework
I must sleep for I am ancient and require rest
I need brick building to actually look like this in game
Combat?
Sean and Earth size omg lol
Sweettooth? That you?
510.1 million kmยฒ is Earth lol
I just hope they can find way to continue to update the world and not stick to the world gen forever in a sense. I have a feeling he will turn the game into the best MMO ever since they been really decent with NMS updates I can imagine them doing every 3 months content lol
As long as it's not the Twisted Metal one.
alright, i've watched the trailer. hit me with all the shared universe conspiracy theories
Otter? Seal Team?
Sean plays the god in the game.
Could be a different Atlas, or an older sim.
Friend entity @analog dawn
I saw a giant with the universal on button on its' head.
We can fly on dragons... yay!
I've had my running wild fan theory that the thigns in NMS slowly become more biological over time, and some of the things I saw looked very much like they were inspired by some of the same Atlassian architecture in NMS
Shared universe... woooo!
It implies a post-apocalypse world.
Before the sentinels???
It's a single planet sim instead of a universal sim. Could be a prequel.

Every mountain can be climbed, and below them lie endless vistas, oceans and continents perhaps no others have seen. Who will climb the tallest mountains, who will find the deepest sea? Set sail across vast oceans and rivers, ride wild beasts through fantastical landscapes, fly dragons over undiscovered landscapes.```
Maybe after the ||16 minutes have passed|| the earth becomes the ||final simulation||
Thatโs what I was thinking too
or a sequel....?
Possibly that too
Or a different Atlas iteration.
"Set sail across vast oceans and rivers"
Red ball at end very Atlasy
Or some open ended interpretation that the Anomaly eventually disconnects and becomes the planet?
did we see boats haha, I have to watch again the hype keeps me loosing info
so many weird ass theories I could come up with now
Building on top of the mountain.. nice
That's a freaking...
The mountains look incredible
they show that ugly building close up
Dragon
Gotta store yetis somewhere.
silly players meta gaming not using phsyics right ๐
anyone see weapons?
honestly, some of the best mountains i've seen in a game, so it's incredible if theyre proc gen
Staves
I saw a torch on a mountain and thought it was the eye of Sauron LMAO ๐
I saw someone shoot an exploding arrrow i think
lol
hmmm me like
Swords!!!1
Oohhhhj
boats!
plasma launcher bow lol
Yessssss!
.
The bunnies all have shields, too.
The Witcher?
Bow attack on animals..
The Redwall game we've always wanted
Shields imply something to protect against.
Bow and arrow
Dang this gonna be tight
imagine they went all crazy and made a none combat game. I would cry haha
Canโt wait
Maybe that? ๐
guys it's shrek

That's what I'm hoping for!

Just noticed the person on the thumb... For scale and is that maybe in game?
Crap. I bet it'll be PS5, not PS4...
Confirmed floating base construction in LNF!

Interesting to me how many elements from NMS are used in what we can see of this game. Surely they can find a unique and creative way to link NMS and LNF into the same Hello Games Verse.
The UI at the bottom left and right... and that staff!
The UI reminds of another game we shan't talk about.
Also top left, a bunch of dots
Yeah!
That entity on the right there has a head that looks like those symbols in NMS when you go to look at how many words you've learned type of thing.
When it raises its head and the light glows blue.
wonder what those mean
Ya.. hp? Shield?
I'm so excited. Love the Wyverns/Dragons the most obviously.
who knows...
Universal on button.
official site is up now https://lightnofire.com/
From the makers of No Manโs Sky, Light No Fire is a game about adventure, building, survival and exploration together. Set on a fantasy planet the size of Earth.
Lol.
like in star wars ships lol
the head kind of looks like one of the robo fauna
We would if they'd just let us play it... like.. now.. ๐
not till 2030 probably :(
Haven't we seen this kind of a symbol in NMS somewhere?
This feels like a love letter to all of the NMS lore and exploration obsessed players who stuck with the game.
I get a feeling I won't be able to play it until it's all been explored and done.
Remember when I first joined the server and I was obsessed with ATLAS lmao.
#1182531870613831740 message me and DisonoredRonin did
Could be why we haven't seen many exploration updates in NMS
Possibly.
Maybe I can take a portal in NMS and go to this planet.. ๐
No, not that
Although NMS did already get a ton of updates already.
๐
๐
official site is pretty bare as expected haha
I want to enable announcements for this game on my discord channel
yeah trailer, a handful of screenshots, link to steam
Yooooooooooo!
Imagine if it's set in the NMS verse cause like, it could be a super anomalous planet isolated from everywhere else with fauna and flora based off of any fantasy archives The ATLAS read while being bored on Earth lol.
Wait...
Would you sacrifice your best NMS save for a head start/boost in LNF?
maybe there'll be a LNF server
Quick join me in #nms-spoilers
Absolutely not.
Next question: Will this server split off a separate server for LNF?
I would think so, unless it went more of a Hello Games unofficial or something
Possibly? And most likely.
Okay I'm still not calming down.
DRAGOONSSSS.
๐ ๐ฒ ๐
I'll just add push notifications on twitter for NMS thanks!
Not fire breathing ones because Light No Fire.
LMAO.
Traditional Wyverns are venomous.
Also, many Dragons/Draconian Entities have other abilities.
But I'm sure they will breathe fire in all honesty lol.
Could be acid though.
Like DnD.
Acid, Cold, Fire, Gas, Lightning...
afk checking steam if they've made it preorder yet ๐
I'm just excited, that's all I know.
Something awesome to look forward to along with GTA VI and a lot of other things.
Unnamed Terminator game which I hope I get news on soon.
The general consensus is that LNF looks pretty cool
Which im glad to see im not alone in
Ooooo new game on my wishlist
If its just Ark Survival Evolved but good they have my money
Be sure to add it to your steam wishlist to drive up its notice
Especially given there's 12 on the team developing it
We're talking on the modding discord, looks like either the same engine or slightly modified
I can see it going either way
I wonder if theyre in a shared universe, LNF and NMS
The steam page says single player sand multiplayer co-op but does not have the MMO tag, so probably same style of multiplayer
Didnt the robot have the stick and ball sigil on its face
Irrelevant to the topic, you profile pic is gorgeous, Gumsk
the graphics are awesome
That's what I've been speculating.
Thanks
One of my friends said it's lile valheim crossed nms
Wonder if thereโll be like world seeds since there proc gen
I hope it won't be massive multi tbf
There was a robot or giant metal something that had the knowledge stone sigil on its face, looked like
Said that already lol.
But yes.
Maybe area seeds?
Was clarifying, other than "sigil"
I think they can very much put them into the same universe.
If anyone needs the steam link

Maybe. That or like a multiplayer co-op instanced world. Maybe persistent too
Itd be an interesting idea for them to procgen a world and then do server wipes where they do a new world every time
pin steam link maybe?
Hmm.
I'm just hoping it isn't PS5 only, or PC only. I can't afford one, can't play the other.
Intruiging, yes.
Its gotta be persistent
If it's procedurally generated, wouldn't that also suggest the it's just multiplayer and not massive multi?
Well not really
Maybe
Depends rly
Didn't think about that, could do multiple worlds with just a seed change
If its really a 1:1 scale for earth, procgen only makes sense
They might be wanting to stick to one though
They arent gonna hand craft an entire planet
Has anyone ever done a test for how many people can be shown online at once in a live gathering in NMS? outside of the nexus?
I picture it being a blend of how valheim/Minecraft do worlds
<@&590975379678953522> Pin?
I thought Sean said they want to have all their players on one world, but would have to go back and listen
32
Yeah I think that was the implication
I think that might be the actual hook of the game, is basically a real online world
I might google and find out, I'm not sure
16 on older hardware
I think itll be largely multiplayer, maybe even mp only, on official HG servers
Steam page has single player as a tag
I see
So probably playable offline like NMS
You know they wouldnt need to get 500 people online in one session, If they could get 200 persistent online players online in one space, thats all they would need
THe idea that a global city could be made is interesting
Maybe like NMS you can turn off multiplayer?
I don't think they're going for MMO level interaction
I mean imagine literally building a kingdom
32 for PC and 16 for console
Sean Murray is no con artist, I dont think he'd make the mistake of promising what they cant deliver again
They do say "multiplayer game" but end up peer-to-peer! I don't think HG has managed to create "servers" yet, else NMS would've gotten proper multiplayer. So I'm not very keen on the multiplayer experience but it's still something to look forward to.
You know, They could just basically make the online a toggle, and when you go online- you connect to the entire global world
He made a major mistake with NMS, and I highly doubt he'd make it again, I agree
My guess is that there is probably going to be a main online version of the world and then everyone can just either go create their own private online sessions, or maybe even communities
That's already come up in his tweets tonight
I wonder how long LNF has been incubating, it looked rather good, even for a doctored trailer, for being such a small team
Private sessions would be lit
5 years
Sean said 5 years
oooh, giant octopus!
They said a couple of years ago they had been working on a big new thing for a few years
If they can actually do a sort of "Main online" server that everyone can connect to, that would be a game changer
Okay well, there goes me ever going in the water ๐
I remember seeing that one piece of concept art floating around for the longest time
its nuts we actually get to see this game though
i really wasnt expecting it
Hopefully we'll be able to mod those out for people that need it ๐
Yeah I never expected a full trailer this soon
Just an announcement
Replace it with water spiders
If they are smart they will probably just have a 'ignore player' option
Neither. I got home from work and got it up on YouTube and that was literally the first thing I saw. Was meant to he
Mod LNF parts to NMS and vice-versa! Hehehe!
I'm Australian, no spiders either, kthx
The best part isint even going to be the launch of the game, its gonna be the version of the game we all get to share 10 years after it comes out
The walk cycle looks exactly the same
All they gotta do is build a good pvp system and a good tame system, the rest theyve already got pretty good
im actually kind of excited to pick those ground mounts
i liked how everything looked like it had some kind of weight for the movement of the player characters and the ground animals
The mounts they show are heavily animated, which means not very moddable if in the same engine
I just love hello games' dedication to their games now. And makes me so excited for this, more so
Yeah there isint another team like them
You can see how updates the past few years tie into this
I'd be perfectly content with no pvp, personally. I'm a creative soul and just want a farm of animals
you guys, I think this is going to legit be a fully online world.
A Multiplayer Earth
Carve a life together. Meet players from across the globe, build a life, explore and survive together. Construct persistent buildings and communities, or strike out alone to discover the world for others.
Again hoping they do the NMS model, toggle pvp
Size wise, no. Larian studios is definitely up there for amazing studios
That'd be amazing
Yeah Hello games seams like they really dont want their games to be a purely competitive experience lol
They need to default pvp to off though
The launch might be rocky but i trust them in the long run
Likewise
I'm not watching the trailer again, yer watching the trailer again!
i think the most appealing thing is that, what ever we do in the game, there is a sense we all already know that its going to be apart of long term progression over the years
I think thats gotta be one of the most sort of appealing ideas about the whole game
You could literally play as a character, in a real world, over many many years and do things together that could live on in that world, and not just quests or instanced based things.
There so many factors that are appealing about it, but that's a big one
It's exciting. We're in such an amazing generation of gaming
bro i just hope i dont die before the game comes out
Based on that one trailer alone, they are legitimately compiling everything no man sky has into one planet
that is friggin nuts
Yup!
btw did you guys see the variety of clothing and bags?
Porco rosso fan I see btw
No??
Yeah!
The trailer has stuff for the eagle eyed!
If you watch the trailer in slow mo, there is a lot of different looking clothing and backpacks
I was so distracted staring at the creatures and scenery
also at 0:46 they show off some kind of big creature for a very brief second, it looks almost like a mini boss fight
My partner spotted the dragon first of all things early on
yeah im gonna be mad if there is no pig race
The health pips at the top! The map and day/night cycle at bottom left, the weapon/equipment at bottom right. Different weapons, so far I have seen bow, staff, sword.
I'm excited about the possibility of creature races
Dragons, flying tames
That's fair. Porco Rosso is one of my favs, Princess Mononoke will always hold my heart though
i just like that the story is about a guy trying to get over the shame of his past. Not to many film stories like that.
Debatable my friend ๐
lol
Also i love that you can keep a fat dragon as a pet
Studio Ghibli is amazing for their stories, they're different and so in depth
Fat dragon!!!
๐
exactly
Also that purely green dense forest at the end of the trailer was like
so refreshing to see
Definitely got rizz
Really hope the giant is playable
Definitely reminded me of Valheim

I spotted a fuzzy tail in the trailer, so I'm looking forward to that, whatever that is
I was gonna mention that actually, its like everything got a really nice texture upgrade on their engine
"Set on a planet the size of Earth"; that's massive.
Earth is HUGE!
I cant wait to literally just nomad around the world
the idea that i could run into a player, possibly see a camp in the distance and go chat with them is so cool

Yeah! It will be an epic journey to walk around the planet.
And Sean is going be super careful what he says too these days so just imagine
Yup!
100%, and it's so fricken good
FANTASY NO MANS SKY FANTASY NO MANS SKY
Just imagine though this might be the first MMORPG that is a Sandbox that actually gets decent updates also...

"an ancient earth to uncover. One where you're not the hero. Thick with lore, mystery"
yes plz
No Man's Sky -> Everyone's Planet
bro what he meant to say is that the game is gonna be like sword art online and if you die in the game you die in the real life
I was not quoting anyone
Sounds so juicy
Oh shiiiiiit
Hard to say it will be a MMORPG!
my dad is sean murray and he says that you can also take dumps just like you do in the real world too
earth accurate sized dumps
TAKE MY MONEI
There goes ever working again
I guess it will prob be more if people will define it as a MMO. I'm guessing prob have some sort of simlar p2p restrictions as say NMS maybe a bit more expanded. But yeah be interesting what can be done.
Never leaving my house
SAME
Probably not MMO
i play 40 hour a day
The steam page does not have that tag
Watching Jason Plays reaction to it.. he's so wholesome ๐
Yeah! P2P by the looks of it.
I work too much to play like that these days ๐ฎโ๐จ
i think its just going to be a sort of optional online adventure game you can play with others
Steam says SP!
All the screenshots seem to show small groups like NMS, and the engine seems to be same as NMS
Im not counting the game launching with PVP btw
The walk cycle is exactly the same as NMS!
Walk cycle is engine dependent.
Zuriku, is it okay if I send a friend request?
the tag says sandbox and action rpg
NMS then LNF and then NMS2 will be using LNF's earth size planets x billions ๐
A Multiplayer Earth
Carve a life together. Meet players from across the globe, build a life, explore and survive together. Construct persistent buildings and communities, or strike out alone to discover the world for others.
This implies that you'll be able to just go to actual communities
16^16^16 planets
Yeah it might work the same thing
I need sleep, hopefully I don't dream too much of LNF lol
Its just so strange because its clearly not going to be a MMO, but its almost like they are suggesting that its going to be some kind of actual online world
Basically universally spread across communities will now be on the same planet, and the planet is huge to accommodate a few million players if it's earth sized. Earth accommodates billions of players on a regular basis.
I'm most excited for screenshots.
As someone who visited one of those most populated NMS planets, I think itll probably just be some kind of bubble based online thing
Where they'll just show you the online players in your "Bubble"
Looks like the people who snatched the subreddit our subreddit farms https://www.reddit.com/r/lightnofire/
I'm speculating the same 32 people group size max, at once.
They need to improve performance of the engine if they plan on having player built communities
When you consider how big the earth is, and you cut the population to just a fraction of that, there's a good chance you won't meet a whole lot of people.
Yeah thats why im thinking that they wont need to show 500 players if that'll even be a thing
Probably have hub points you can find like the Nexus
if they can reach 100 players that'll be more than enough to make a city feel alive- if that can be a thing.
I have one request from them....
Yup, even if there's 1m online, how many will actually be in the same area?
Don't make the game for the Switch only Switch 2
Following the news they shared on the upcoming updates for NMS I do think they have already made some drastic changes in the engine, they just have to implement them now.
I don't need the game dumbed down
Yeah that's what I think
You know the idea that a nexus in LNF could be like a actual fantasy city where you could run into as many players as the nexus- is really cool on its own
or even if its just a hub
Huge suprise seeing this at the Game Awards, really excited to see what Sean and the team are cooking up here
great early christmas gift!
Honestly they prob can do bigger then 32 in size I think we could do like 64 tbh
The shaders look very different in the little snippet they showcased at the end of that award trailer video.
No procedure generation i guess?
the only thing NMS needs to do is fix their netcode issues with lots of players
not sure if they fixed that yet
where it use to lag badly when people would join
They haven't fixed a lot of stuff
Perhaps some of the tech will be shared over, but they didn't want to put it in NMS because it would tip their hand?
The online infrastructure might be a lot better in LNF because it probably has been built a lot more earlier than in NMS
Hopefully
Oh it will be procgen if they are on the same engine
this game might also not show up for another 2 years also
I think Online in NMS was built in after, due to how much it really improved the experience
The shaders in the NMS 2024 tease also look much better
Hmm. I'm okay with that if we will have a lot of planets, not like 2-3
Yup!
No Man's Sky was revealed at the VGX Awards in December 2013
No Man's Sky/Initial release date August 9, 2016
Huh? What tease
It's in #nms-spoilers channel
I'm wondering if the station the ship flies out of is player owned

Could be.. NOW! checks steam Dang it
idc if its like 10 years if it good i play
"Games a PS5 Exclusive"
I'm just hope they will make good game without any downgrade for NMS
I'm assuming the same price point, $60
I would just burn down PS if that was the case lol
You can wishlist it on Steam already so it's prooooobably not a console exclusive
I think Sean is not going be buddies with Playstation
I think some bad blood happen mostly on PS side
Definitely not a console exclusive lol
yup
2 years later it vanishes on steam and shows on epic ๐
Intellivision exclusive
lol we had an intellivision when i was a kid
Hell maybe will get the game on Virtual Boy
It's the only console I've ever owned ๐
That thing damaged my eyesight I swear
game comes out on ipad??!?!?!
seem like the game awards were pushing mobile a lot ๐คฎ
is ok i wish mobile games are not games made just to make money
They all are, that's the point
I have found my new spot, all I'm sayijg is I'm going 100% dragon mount, I'ma get the biggest meanest.looking one too
As long as Sean is alive and acting as the head of HG I think they'll be one of my fav developers. ๐

I'ma build my cast high stop one and will claim my dragon in order to reach it

If anything we dan all agree they make some really awesome videos.
Using in-game footage.
Lol or catapult , I wonder if I can make a human character with log golden hair... With cool armor like a true Targaryean
To be fair, didn't Sean say mountains one mile high? The highest on earth are something like 5 to 6.5 miles
I wonder how big the dragon Mounts can get, Hopefully really really big
Depending on how you measure
i heard miles
I think the distance between the lowest known point and highest knwn point on earth is 6 miles.
Greatest distance from base of mountain to peak of same mountain is 10,203m (debatable)
"mountains that are miles high...taller than Everest"
Ahh great, thanks
It's around 12.3 miles
The Marianas trench and mount Everest
? That's 6.3 miles
Oh you mean lowest anywhere to highest anywhere
Just got into this server for this specific announcement lol
You can also measure distance from core, which varies a lot
I hope we get large dragon souls so I can make a true Throne for my castle
I wonder if we'll at least get a local map
I want to try and find a Jet black dragon and cal it Balerion

Wonder if "Light No Fire" is a reference to the evolution of mankind. Making it a prequel to No Man's Sky
Considering the tech elements in some scenes,I would say distant future if so
Or if it's the only planet undiscovered in nms
The giant robot looks like a KNowledge stone for a face. The end symbol an open Atlas...
I'm still standing firmly in my weird ass fan theory head cannon about mechanical planet eventually becoming the perfect simluated world
Captain Steve is gonna lore the crap outta that theory
Just having some ships come from nowhere at certain times during the game XD
I have a feeling the whole planet is Atlas at 15, like it's enclosing itself more to one planet to try and prevent a failure
The game looks beautiful!
Yeah the reused visuals really make me think it will tie in with NMS
I like it being on one planet
Will only get confirmed if they add some tie in elements to NMS
gonna be fun to find out when it comes out eventually!
But man I can't help but be a bit disappointed they didn't try for a new genre
Survivalcraft is so saturated now
There is only a few good ones though
And it just being parallels to NMS, it looks incredibly similar except the terrain being more realised
And then making a thematically similar trailer
It feels like at the worst, it's mostly exploration and lore focused, which I would be totally okay with
exploration is the itch that i need scratched the most
But I do get a lot of Redwall meets Numenera vibes from it for sure
I hope they'll put some creative twist to this genre
Yeah with NMS I feel like once you touched down on a planet you have seen most of it already
Right now it makes me want to just play valheim instead
I also tried lego fortnite, it again kinda bored me as it's the same old progression and systems nothing fancy
I hope we can fight with our companions. That is one of the things I will keep my eye on
Its cool to see HG new IP. The trailer in NMS style make me kinda nostalgic.
The world isn't even lego aside from the enemies, at least I know HG will make it visually cohesive
Played it for an hour, for someone new to the genre I can imagine it being pretty fun and chill
Especially kids
I wonder of there will be voice acting in LNF
They all speak like Frog from Chrono Trigger lol
But the world looks kinda bland as it's just typical fortnite style world, only when you start building do you get to the lego aesthetic
idk why but id find that hilarious
One thing LNF trailer got me excited is the building animations they look awesome
animal crossing phonemes
And visual effects definitely bumped up hard from NMS
Kingfisher mount was cool as hell. I want one in NMS now
So is it just reskinned Fornite? Do I just install Fornite and then Lego Fornite will be there?
Or is it an entire game?
Yeah the former, you just install the experience and then choose it from the bottom
Great thing is you're not forced into a single multiplayer world you make your own and then invite friends in it if you want
Hmm that's interesting. Might check it out then.
I never got into Fornite because the building mechanics seemed too much
Never got into it because of the high incentive to spend everything on vbucks
I dont play fortnite but when I saw the lego thing I got curious and installed
but it didnt get me hooked so I uninstalled
I am anyway deep into modded minecraft and making my industrial zone
and I trust HG to make a nicer feeling survivalcraft anyway
I hope they make it more tight and cohesive compared to NMS, learning from all their mistakes, feedback and successes
May be a bit optimistic as vr has lost a bit of its new concept hype but i still hope it does give support for it.
they're clearly using the same engine, I can easily see them implementing VR
in fact I just noticed the water physics are the same as the current game lol, just better reflections
ahh nice
I second this!

Truly the reason I will be playing.
We have an Impulse Beans emote and no LNF ATLAS logo.

when LNF discord
Will this game have VOIP? It looks like a major win for a new game to RP in as D&D fan.
New knowledge stone ?

Looks like a warframe corpus Lolol
The head at least
Really curious on combat/charater progression. Will there be classes or will combat/skills be locked to weapons. Any news on this?
I was thinking, could LNF be a sequel to NMS? The giant red orb could be the Atlas?
Got any other technical speculations?
Very curious regarding the possible technical details of the upcoming game.
How the procgen works, whether it'll be using Vulkan on PC, etc.
Can't really tell much from just the trailer ๐
We definitely don't know any of that
The only things you can surmise really are that it looks like the same engine or a modified version of the same, for many reasons, and that there are many features that seem to be related to NMS updates in the past
Then make guesses from there
Can't lie, when Sean started talking I was saying:
SEAN NO
PLEASE UNDERSELL
SSSSEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAANNNNNNN
Then the trailer came up and I went:
No wait,
LET HIM COOK
He definitely stayed to script for exactly that reason
The quotes he gave were mostly the same as the announcement text
His Twitter tonight was funny
I personally think it would be wise to assume hello games will largely stick with what they already know
To me it looks like valheim except we will finally have a round earth and not flat with borders or infinite like Minecraft
If LNF sells as well as NMS, every player has 14.89 km^2 or 1/6th the size of manhatten(assuming equal land area to Earth). I doubt there will be much wilderness left.
Part of what Sean said though is that it's going to be the first real open world game.
That must've made things at least a little awkward between him and Todd Howard when they met post-show.

I am a little skeptical about 10 million players sharing 1 planet.
It's likely the same type of multiplayer as NMS, so they won't really be. It's not an MMO
They keep saying earth sized in all their text, so about that
Right, looks like I'm going to start saving up for a PS5...
I hope my Steam Deck will be powerful enough to run it lol
Air glideing!
So excited after the trailer! Gonna grind NMS everyday now!
This is perfect
๐๐๐๐
it'll probably be like minecraft realms
make a world, its constantly online
unless they dont have the money to fund it, then it'll be localised worlds but you can invite your friends
Theres a person standing on the finger under the "atlas"
just making sure to light no fire
it really sounds like a combination of no mans sky and the last campfire
So we also got staffs in NMS. Are these will also be customizable?
Looks like the staff and capes in NMS come from LNF early development.
So my question is, will we see some NMS version of dragons from LNF. Maybe as ship/frigate/freighter type or fauna in the future ๐ค
Is there a discord yet, or is the game still to far away?
Currently we have this thread, other community discords may or may not have created something but there's no official discord as of yet. The game release dates weren't shared, it's on wishlist on steam.
ty ty
Does this imply that the Light No Fire world is also simulated/controlled by the Atlas?
Me excited
Means they like red visuals
Seems to be a lot of different animal characters available.
Bunnies, badgers, owls, deer people and maybe even foxes/wolves.
Lovely! I love when fantasy RPGs have more than just humans, orcs and elves
Sean

I saw people associating it with knowledge stones first but it's true it ressembles both lol
Wonder if they'll have any difference between opposite to nms
Nope. Similar art style doesn't mean it's from NMS. Hello Games literally said the new title is it's own thing and not related to NMS when they first teased it years ago
Hoping for race specific attributes when it comes to movement, skills etc.
Would be truly deep RPG mechanics
Yeah like they did with nms lol
Literally just the style of their artist Beau Lamb
That thing shown in the pic has fur and ears anyways, doubt it's Korvax
Interestingly enough they've been drawing fantasy art for quite some time now.
Maybe it's like an old korvax. Back before they colonized the galaxy
this has been in development for 5 years
Primal korvax confirmed
Yup. And years ago I speculated HG was making a fantasy RPG on the background. Glad to see it's actually happening!
Itโs still not confirmed in any wayโฆ
It could just be a coincidence
We really hate false information here
Hellu Mythos
It's just speculation. We can't say one way or another whether it is or isn't without them explicitly confirming. Theories are fun.
Then donโt say confirmed
It's not to be taken in a literal context bruv.
Then donโt say it
Which? The walking small entity in the middle or the large entity in the background?
Just because something shares a design element doesn't mean it is what we think it is.
This game is being developed by Hello Games, the company/team of devs that made No Man's Sky. They're using some models they've already created into a new title. This is a well known practice used by many gaming and entertainment companies across the globe, be it Ubisoft or Disney. This does not prove jackfruit, let alone a Korvax in LNF.
Jackfruit
Jackfruit confirmed?
This being said, let's be mindful of the server and pinned parent channel rules everyone.
@rose plover and @vapid plinth be nice. ๐
So be nice to me im just speculating.
Yes :3
Exactly this. The trailer includes many similarities with NMS but that's simply the "DNA" of Hello Games. You can recognize the handiwork of specific people over time. Like 3D modelers, artists, programmers etc.
Game making is an art form just like any other and the personal touch and "spirit" of an artist carries over between titles.
It's similar how every game from specific studio like Bethesda, Rockstar etc. have their own similar feel despite being different titles.
Sowwy
I just feel like it just seems super duper coincidental they chose a nms-esque model for that when the rest of the art style for lnf is different
I would refer to this
#1182531870613831740 message
Literally how gamedev works
This is light no fire
It is a comment I said
It leads to this comment
Look it's a theory. We don't know if it's right or not. It's cool to think about
It wouldn't be a far stretch that hello games could tie in games loosely
They chose NMS-esq lot of stuff for NFL, the walk cycle, the engine (speculation), the idea, the multiplayer, even some of the creature design look very similar, but it's not surprising given they're reusing the same models to build upon. Heck, I saw some plant that you can find similar versions of in NMS.
Yeah I looked at the walking animation and just immediately thought of nms.
Theorizing is fine. It just irks me to hear a statement like "This looks like NMS, hence same universe confirmed"
Ah yes the soon to be released Fire No Light
It's jokes mate
It's still a nice speculation that both of these games are from the same universe, ||maybe a pre-existing AI sim, or a post Atlas AI sim (after the 16 minutes)||
No Mans Fire
Light no mans
Five Nights at Larrys
Instead of being a same universe, the most logical answer for all similarities are that it's the same artists, programmers and engine. The handiwork and style of people carry over different titles
Its NFL! Sheesh! Tch! Pfft! Smh my head!
No mans Skyrim
No Fire Manโs Light Sky
This
NFL! No friggin life! (me in a nutshell)
Is HG attacking Bethesda, will their next game be post apocalyptic setting?

I won't be having one once the game comes out for sure xD
Joe danger in a post apocalyptic setting. lol! Stop feeding fuel to fire. Admin abooz!

Todd isn't looking too happy
Maybe Sean had a bit more drinks that night
lol! He didn't like "Joe danger guy". Sean is "No Man's Guy".
Joe danger guy. โIt just worksโ
No Fires Light
lol!
Fire maybe because NMS eats for dinner starfield ๐คญ
No fries left!
It's because Todd is mad that Sean can do a better open world sci-fi game with a smaller staff and budget than his triple a studio
spitting facts
LNF does look promising though, it's actually massive compared to other "single planet" games.
Never Fighting Lasers
If they actually pull off earth sized planet, that is.
They are 2 100% different games, like comparing GTA to Fallout
100 percent. I'm assuming it'll probably be like nms in the fact the planet will be massive
And if the statement about rich thick and deep lore is true, it'll truly be massive
Approx 64000 km radius is ...
Makes no sense once you have played both
And everyone starts in their own little corner
I've usually seen a trend in good start-ups... instead of corner almost all of them started in the garage.

I'm really intrigued of the server structure in LNF. If the instancing is similar to NMS, how big etc.
seems to be from the initial description
Jajajajaja
but who knows
Co-op says on steam.
Seamless open world earth size planet would be amazing
LNF won't make me stop playing nms but I think it will be a breath of fresh air from the open world fantasy genre
Hope they have dungeons
You mean the Autophage?
KNOWLEDGE BROS
Lmao yes
Nobody knows at this point except "Knowledge Bros".
We have a name, confirmed.
How do you know they contain knowledge?
Iโm so hyped
Gleam said so.
What if their heads are empty. No thoughts
Gleam is 99.99% correct.
99.99โฆ%
Obey the Gleam
They have real torches.
I cant make a joke. I want to. But I cant
Oboy the gleam
Yes! I am not going for 16 digit decimals. :3
Obey the Gleam.
99.999999999999999999%
Would it be possible to make a
with the gray/black base that the Atlas looking thing has in the trailer
Warmth system seems a tiny bit more advanced than nms XD
Do we have an estimated release date?
So basicaly we know what to ecpect from LNF from NMS. Only and Bigest mistery is the story.
Only thing i could dig from the ui lol
Aerons are nms lore yeah?
Yep
I want Aerons
Thatโs it
They donโt even have to be the same kind of Aerons as the ones from nms lore I just want something named Aerons
Seems fair to assume it's going to be
That's what I've been saying this entire time
Same universe gang
Honestly wouldn't be surprised if it was a different type of

Light No Fire is a new upcoming open world survival game from Hello Games, the studio that produced No Man's Sky!
This is a first look at what the game is about with stunning graphics and lifelike creatures and elements.
If you like my content and want to show supp...
I feel as if Light No Fire is basically a more sophisticated Minecraft with realistic graphics and I mean this in a positive way because I love Minecraft.
Cant wait to get some more info
Yup minecraft with more easily accessible and less blocky freedom lol
I'm sure sean
Knowledge giants? ๐
It's been fun watching people react to the trailer, in particular ones that stayed with the game from the start ๐
LNF won't be completely open world. It'll most likely be like nms
What
So you know how you have to warp to systems yeah?
I'm assuming you'll have to do something similar with different regions of this fantasy planet
Would you care to bet?
Nah - something lighthearted
Nude Gleam picโฆ?
Alright yeah
If there are loading screens for regions, you can pick my name for a month (server rules apply)
If not, I pick yours
Oh 100%
Cool
So my statement is this
It will be open world in seperate "regions" kind of like how you had little seperate "system" seeds. You'll have a LOT of land to work with per region but it makes sense that they will follow in the success of NMS and use a system that works similarly
Idk what would be the equivalent of warping though.
I cant wait to RP in this game. Very excited.
Ok, and mine is that there will be no loading screens for that - full planet access no loading
Bet.
Potential Dungeons and interiors do not apply
hmm....Dungeons, hope hey are instanced or else the bunny people may get in a fight with the deer people over loot/resoruces haha
See my theory will be that region seeds will have fixed procedural dungeons unique to each region
I think we are going to see a lot more handcrafted areas than what we have been used to in NMS - that's why I think dungeons could need a load
If there are dungeons as we know them from other games ofc
Did we get an estimated year on when it will release?
I've got a reminder to check on our bet a year from now ๐
Heck. Imagine that. Finding a note left by an old traveler or a forum post about a dungeon location with some legendary loot.
Then proceeding to traverse across the world to find said dungeon. Meeting others along the way, encountering dangers, settling for a moment.
Badass
Is this going to be more of a MMO than NMS is? No man's sky isn't a MMO but have elements of MMOs. I hope that PvP (if any) is optional
I can already imagine such a rich and more "close-to-ground" experience.
you mean what mmos where before discord? and wowhead haha
Basically xD
I didn't see more than 4 players at once in that trailer, I'm guessing 4 player coop not mmo
if you never played mmos on dial up, you will never know what true exploration is....when you kept notes on an actual notepad by your computer
I really think they are taking the approach of "if it isn't broke dont fix it" watching the trailer I noticed the flyers are very VERY similar to the ship animations from nms.
RuneScape is a classic example
My realistic expectations would be literal NMS level of online presence.
My wish would be same with just waayy bigger instances for potential player built villages/towns etc.
I tell you what I miss in the video game industry, is demo disks...not betas or alphas, but actual demos of a game. That where made public for the masses to try.
I cant wait for when this game comes out and I get attacked by an army of cute bunnies lol
Current iteration of NMS online systems is extremely cost effective whilst still giving an illusion of relatively persistent online world.
If HG takes a risk, they could increase online budget and make more server side stuff.
Although NMS-style online suits well with those who also want a solo experience
I'm deep in this dungeon.. hope no one picks up the pho...NO CARRIER
Im already planning my character! will definitely be an otter unless foxes are an option
so far only seen otters, deer people, pig and owl
and potentially a wolf
And bunnies
bnuye
I always play a feline race/tiger if possible, Khajit or Vah Shir all day every day. 2 Handed Melee ...tank build if possible to spec that deep
Bunny power
Argonian enjoyer here. Leaning more towards dragon'ish characters. (or foxis)
Really hope for race specific attributes in LNF
Seems like an RPG to me, bet that's a thing
Wonder how they'll translate to vr if they do
wondering how deep the RPG mechanics will be. If HG goes all in, it'll be a true competitor to top line rpgs
I swore one of the characters in the trailer looked like a Hipo to me
I would expect more of a focus on exploration rather than deep rpg mechanics
If this game offers D&D 5E like class depth w/multiclassing....yes all I have to say is yes.
I would say don't get your hopes up for a crazy in depth rpg hand crafted skyrim esque game
Did you happen to see the one scene where they were flying over a mountain and you could spot a big castle way over in the distance. It was pretty tiny from far away.
I'll be blown away if the player structures render that far away
Ill need to buy a new computer
Climbing over a hill and seeing smoke in the distance. Heading there and finding a little village made by a group of players.
heck I'm daydreaming all the possibilities
wait...you mean ot RIAD the little village right?
Diplomacy or war
I sure hope the game won't have Ark/Rust type of raiding system. Rather an opt-in thing where you can participate in pvp activity if both sides enable it
Servitude or Death
I hope it does have extensive pvp
I agree....I hope for opt-in or pve and pvp designated servers
I want this game to be Ark SE but good
I also hope we can host our own servers/sessions
Light No Fire seems like a symbolic wordplay about having a peaceful community thing. You can have light without fire and so on.
Or it could have deeper lore meaning in the game itself
I suspect it to be a whole unified thing like NMS univere. At least what I could understand from Sean's description about an earth that everyone shares.
If it comes to that, I hope there isn't terraforming. Wouldn't wanna spawn in an ugly hole dug by a group of griefers
thats exactly why I want to self host for my friends and others of us who want to RP, immersion loss is REAL when people build giant eyesores or Chinese Rust clans come in and takeover the map
Can we expect trade and economy?
Realstically am expecting mmo-hybrid thing like NMS.
It will probably be very similar to nms but fantasy instead of sci-fi
One good thing about this game is... unlike NMS where the planets are actually relatively small in comparison to real life planets, in LNF they boast the world to be an actual earth sized planet with mountains that feel like mountains etc.
Logistically there won't be big enough player groups to cause that much eyesore in such a large world
The steam page says singleplayer so can it be played offline/online co-op.....so who knows how that will be implemented
NMS-style player visibility toggle where buildings and such still show up? Could be
I swa a bow and sword get used in the trailer. I am curious if all gear will be player created or if dungoens/npcs will drop loot or just rare resources
@silk crane @frail forge
Any plans with servers admins to create an "official" LNF-discord server? Or leaving that to others?
Probably a mix of both. So much potential for a deep crafting system where dungeon finds could unlock stuff for recipes and so on.
Also hang glider!
Iโm assuming lore wise, the game is set in the nms universe a LONG time before space travel, which I think is cool
Maybe set in medieval times?
This. Everything is such a blur now. No official site for the game, no solid community yet.
Optimal situation would be that HG finally hired community managers that would host an official server.
I just envisioned a guild v guild war...imagine 100s of bunny folk slaughtering the masses
I mean, I'm not going to answer that ๐
I am... blown away!
Don't overhyped the game. It definitely looks like they took NMS and turned it into a fantasy game
I think trade will be expanded in comparison with NMS if we assume that a few people will obtain rare drops from monsters and unique resources depending on the biome they spawn. And creating recipes. This obviously adds value, supply and demand etc
Gamers.
Overhype is what we do
I'd say earth-sized makes it quite a bit different... !
I assume and hope it's a whole own lore and world. A chance for HGs story writers and creative people to flourish their skills and utilize what they've learned
What have we learned over the past few years lol
Nothing at all based on my experiences
cough 'the day before' ....lol
Hmm hmm... already got hired for the upcoming official server? >.>

๐๐
this quote has me planning my entire identity around the game:
"Light No Fire presents you with an ancient earth to uncover. One where you're not the hero. Thick with lore, mystery and a constant fight for survival. Inspired by the adventure, charm and imagination that we love from classic fantasy."
can relate
I feel like combat will be much better and focused on compared to nms
Oooh weโre not the hero
Exactly!
Who said that!
On the website
Notice how there was no touch upon heavy rpg. Rather its about adventure
