the star bulbs were the worst for me, i initially had to travel 5 mins in one direction to find some, and then realised i'd for some inexplicable reason left the haz mat gauntlet package in the ship, which i'm not walking all the way back there to get it, let me just reload, and then after reloading the analysis visor wouldn't find me the nearest bulbs anymore so i had to walk around aimlessly for another 15 minutes, collect them, and then spend the 10 minutes walking back to the ship to finally continue.

Currently it doesn’t. No that’s unhelpful, you start a new save from the title screen and pick the option for expedition. Do not delete your main save. You start as a new character with a set of objectives

They’re essentially events that reward items that’ll be available across all your saves.

You will be able to play your “main save” and dip in and out of the expo.

The expos also act as a way for new players to come to grips with the games mechanics, and can actually be converted to a normal save once you complete the expedition usually giving you a leg up. This is not the case with this one where the expedition take a really bloody long time to complete due to timegating.

There are two ways I know of to get Paraffinium for Star Bulb on a non Tropical world, both need a medium refiner: You can cycle a planet's local metal with Ferrite (pure or dust) until it is Paraffinium, then take Oxygen to it for Star Bulb.
That method would take the longest on a Toxic world as Paraffinium cycles into Ammonia with Ferrite

The other method is a bit easier and takes Silver and Oxygen to make Paraffinium

What I don't like at this expedition is the constant repetition of three tasks, including the fact that we have to land on the anomaly every time instead of just continuing to complete these tasks from the cockpit. I would liked a system as in Elite Dangerous Community Tasks, where you could do what you want without any break

Companions and their eggs aren't transferrable as far as I'm aware, the best you might be able to do is note down the planet's glyph sequence an return to it outside the Expedition
