If you went to the space station you'll be able to get back by using a portal on another space station or the Anomaly. Otherwise you can trace your steps back by following your warp path.

Do you have money? Repair kits are a great idea, and you're guaranteed some at the entrance of a derelict. You'd have to buy the scanner. Not sure if they're for sale in the early systems.

goto the station, check the trade terminal, see if you can buy an emergency signal scanner - might need to farm some units first, but that's an effort worth taking, because like @quasi copper said, basically the first crate you get to loot at a derelict freighter mission will always drop 3 repair kits, and you can use them to fix any damaged subcomponent of any tech, module or inventory slot

not all worlds with activated metals have storm crystals, if you travel around a bit during a storm and don't see them via scan, move on to somewhere else. I went to the gas giant since we were there anyways and the storm is a permanent feature, no waiting

you land by going to the blue target-light thing of light near the front of the derelict, there's one on each side. after landing you can beam down to the derelict and then go run it as the milestone wants

you need chrom metal for the cadmium drive to get to red star systems, cadmium for the emeril drive to go to green star systems, emeril for the indium drive to go to blue star systems.

Most of my bases are also gone after the expedition. I believe the missing ones were in purple systems. This save hasn't got purple stars unlocked, so I think that's why mine are gone. The same might be true for yours. People say the bases will be there when you have purple stars unlocked.

hazardous flora are usually a good bet. if you see the puffers, run by them and hold the "collect" button to grab from the 3 gassy pods, get lots more that way

Any black hole works for the milestone. but the r4 system black hole is the only one that poots you out in the r5 system, for the rest you will need to use the space station teleporter to go back to r4 and warp a couple times

OR you can select the milestone, use the galaxy map to go to another black hole, go through that one, then go to a space station and tp back to the r4 system to pick up the next expedition task. in theory you can use the navigation system (which shows the planets in first person mode) and look for the small purpleish swirly icon down here and line it up. but I could never get that to work.

Turn off multiplayer. Make sure you select the milestone. You should see checkboxes in the lower right of your screen after opening the first door, if you don't you're not getting credit. You can purchase new scanners at trade terminals as of the last patch I believe.

i am trying to find Tendrils, i am in the system that gave me this quest - timestamp 3 and the quest log does say that my current system has tendtrils but i am not able to find them, i visited all the planets and scanned for hours. can someone please let me know if i am doing something wrong?

above the doors, there are arrows, the blue ones are 'main areas', the red or purple or whatever it is are dead ends, you can skip those

The short version is all you need to do to do a derelict freighter is make sure you have the mission selected, make sure the checkmarks are in the bottom right of the screen, read the pads until you get the credentials item, then interact with the three terminals. You can avoid the doors that have a circle over them, only go in the ones with arrows over them.

If you did all that, you'll have to restart like I said, and possibly do another derelict freighter.

all stellar metals refine to chrom metal, you get given a personal refiner for that purpose. all planets have a stellar metal deposit; the purple star systems have this new stuff "quartzite" which is the equivalent of copper, cadmium etc.

you would have to try to backtrack. so that means if you can find one of the early system names, if you remember which one it is, go to that spacce station

it's not too far. get some nanites ( < 1k) and get the warp hypercore blueprint, then get some storm crystals or use the ones you gahered already plus antimatter, that should do well

third option, get someone to ferry you back to the expd area (join their group), I don't know the mechanics of that

you'll need to get to the local space station, exit ship (so you save your game) before leaving the group, that's the only piece I'm sure about.

Anyone know if All of the derelict freighters in the expedition are infested with Minifiends? Just got my first infested derelict, popped a nest by accident, and retreated to my corvette after struggling to aim through some floating debris. Not sure if they're still waiting for me inside, debating abandoning this one and finding another in a different system.

Just run past everything. Read the pads until you get the credentials, then don't bother with them anymore. After that only go in the doors with the blue lit up arrow above them (avoid the red circles). Interact with the console if a room has one then move on. Don't bother killing or looting anything else.

What I took with me and made my life so much easier

• 5 solar mirror
• 5 quantum computer
• 5 microprocessor
• sentinel ship brain for nanite (1:230): || There is a bit of good fight, use the nanites to copy your weapon to the expedition, naked weapon will give you hard time. ||
• something for units
• 20x radiant shad and 10x of those green crystal you get underwater || = 2 milestone done right there ||
• 30x bionic lure bait, || I got the final boss, Jellyfish pretty fast with it. ||

yup, before finishing for good, you can take whatever left over with you, including the techs and the ship.
Everything else is converted into units or nanites automatically and added to your main save.

Others are way too long and more complicated.
I had to do this mission 6 times, without having the mission Lost in Space enabled under my log, the milestone was not being completed so I tried warping to other system and some derelict are a massive pain in the arse, do it on something zone 3

It is on the left side when entering the station while the trading outpost is on the right side of the station after takign the stairs.

Vertical parts mean some parts can be rotated to snap in vertical axis

Ex the aeron drive can be rotated to snap to all sides of a hab (left, right, top, bottom)

Ive encounter many bugs specially go enter space station and its like its infinite and goes invisible and no landing similar issue happened with the Anomaly
